I make these threads so that in 5 months, when one of you guys is yammering like you knew Pavlik was gonna win all along, i can look back here and see that your FINAL prediction was actually for Taylor and call u out on it!!!!
This is so everyone keeps their word.
MINE
Rounds 1-3: All Taylor, maybe even scores a flash KD
Rounds 4-7: Taylor and Pavlik switch off rounds in a brutal punchfest, as Pavlik assumes control by the 7th
Rounds 8,9: Brutal punchfest with Pavlik clearly getting the better of every round and exchange
Round 10: Either Pavlik forces the stoppage, or Taylor makes it back to his corner on unsteady legs and Steward does the right thing and calls it off. Maybe even Taylor does it himself, but i think he's got to much pride at this point.
Ur first post is almost a spot on prediction except u didnt think he would finish it that quick...very impressive
helllllllllll yea
i really analized that fight a lot. i should do it more often, make myself a ton of money :D :D :D
either Pavlik or Taylor wins.....Taylor by TKO 8
woooooooooop check what u guys predicted!!! This guy got it wrong, but he was right that either guy would win the fight at least! LOL (idiot)
Well Emanuel stated that there will be no more Taylor with his hands dropped. I disagree I think he does well technically for the earlier rounds. But as soon as he starts getting hit he'll try and fight Pavlik's fight. At that point I expect Pavlik to KO him somewhere around the 8th or 9th round. Becuase Taylor has issues with the weight. And he badly needs to move up. Taylor gets noticeably fatigued in the last half of the fight. I think if he's not consistently fighting the right way (as in jabbing, keeping his hands up, staying out of the corner, etc.) Then we will see Pavlik's power start to bother him.
With that said I think Pavlik has to knock him out. With the way Jermaine's fights have been scored you are gonna have to emphatically take the belt away. I will be surprised if Pavlik gets the decision. Not because he can't but if Jermaine stays close and competitive, then I think the judges will favor the champ.
So my final prediction is that Pavlik wins by KO. One thing I will say is definite is Taylor has no chance of KOing Pavlik. You can call me out later on that if you want. And if I am wrong I will admit it.
I couldn't have been anymore spot on with that. Taylor came on strong and stayed out of the corner. Also I was right that Pavlik had to win by KO becuase of the scoring. He was down by as much as 4 point (fucking rediculous).
At the last part I was wrong Taylor could have gotten the KO. I was wrong with that one. But Pavlik just showed you how tough he was.
After going back and forth for a week now and leaning towards Taylor, I've got to go with my 'gut' instinct here...
I'm picking Pavlik to win via mid to late round TKO. After rewatching Pavlik-Miranda, I realized that Kelly's remarkable composure, his granite chin, combined with his high workrate and his punching power will prove too much for the smaller and lighter hitting Taylor. I think Kelly has a sound game plan and will adjust to any of Taylor's tactics to get the KO.
And that's another point here; you guys all know that Pavliks going to gunning for the knockout rather than the decision and this will be a big factor in the fight...
Yeah, I got this one right; it's a first...:fing02:
HBO by KO.
regardless of who wins, as long as it's by KO, HBO has what it's wanted since Hopkins-Taylor I (actually, since long before that since Hopkins was so boring in his effectiveness) which is a MW champ they can sell on PPV.
I think Taylor by UD. Pavlik is tough and hard, but really inexperienced. I don't think he will be owned, but he will most likely lose.
ooooooooooops...
Though I do have to say that Smoger was really quick to jump in and stop it without giving Taylor the same chance to recover he gave Pavlik. Good fight, though.
Edit: Looking at it again, Smoger let Taylor get hit repeatedly when he was sitting on the ropes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but once the ropes are holding him up, shouldn't Smoger have ruled it a knockdown, given an 8 count and then decided whether Taylor could have continued? I don't know that he could have, but we'll never know. There were at least 5 flush punches landed when the corner was holding him up.

Jermain Taylor UD (115 - 113, 114 - 114, 116 - 112)
hate to burst your bubble or anything but the scores you have listed represent a majority decision, not a ud...
Taylor by UD. But I would not be suprised if Pavlik won. I doubt he knocks Taylor out. Unless he lands one perfect punch. Taylor is slick and will make Pavlik miss.
Why do you have Amadinejad in your avi?...:wtf:
