jesse brinkley, joey gilbert, kelvin davis, derek hinkey, all northern nevada local boys who will spar with anyone as long as your down, kelvin by far is or was (because of if unfortunate injury) the best and whats funny is he started boxing later then all these guys......
I've sparred with 3 pros. One is named Ryan something...went 2-0 at around 160 lbs then never fought again. Just ate a lot and settled down. He is friends with Anthony Hanshaw. We went at it VERY lightly.
2nd pro I sparred was Junier Ramos. He was a beastly Cuban amateur with some serious pop but he turned pro vs Jonathan Oquendo (the Rican prospect who signed wth Golden Boy) and got beat down badly. I worked the corner with my trainer for that fight on telemundo.
The most recent pro I sparred was Smoke Gainer. He is fast as shit, and has some serious power. Dude definitely walked around at 160. Don't know how in cold hell he ever made 126 and below.
Nice.
I heard Ray is a dick in real life for real. Real arrogant and an overall dick. Any truth to that?
Coming from me, and the other ...say about 15 kids I trained with in New Bedford, Ray Oliveira is an as$hole. He treated us all like sh!t and always talked down on us, and he wasnt even are trainer. We met all the other pros from the area and liked them all, but we all disliked Ray. He has moodswings, once in a while hes nice but he can be a real prick. Hes a weird guy.
Pemberton snitched on some drug dealers, hes wanted dead, hes hiding out
Jason Pires is making a come back. Hes training in Fall River.
Ricky Gonzalez is running the gum by himself now in New Bedford, Ray was helping but he left.
Jose Colon is still in a cell.
Paul Delgado is in Atlanta, started Clear Eye Promotions and is still fighting on. Hes a good guy.
I have sparred...
Paul Delgado
Jason Pires
Ray Oliveira
Ricky Gonzalez (dont know if he ever turned pro, good amateur but hes punch drunk)
Scott Pemberton
Eddie Bishop
Jose Colon (very good prospect, career ruined, hes in jail. We sparred like every day)
I could have went pro and Sucra was actually training me after I left the PAL, but I thought I didnt have big enough talent and Pemberton and Ray werent making the kind of dough I'de make w/a degree soo.
.
Smartest shit I heard anyone say on boxingscene.
I have sparred quite a bit with both Scottie and Ray and one of the best times in my career was the day Ray and I did ten rounds straight...and I threw a lot of punches (as he did), thinking the whole time of his fights with Padilla, Phillips, etc. I had the weight over him, obviously (he was about 155 when we sparred) so I didn't throw big shots but I threw a lot of combinations. It was back and forth action (by design), just like those 1000 punch fights he had
Yep in the 90's.
Derek Angol
Glenn McCrory
Terry Dunstan
Adrian Dodson
I did OK, McCrory (Birtley Boys Club) was probably the best of the bunch with very fast hands and good movement.
I thought that you had sparred with Robin Reid as well Micky?
I've sparred with Kelly Pavlik. He was like 15 and I was 16. He beat me pretty bad. He hit me so hard in the stomach that a piece of corn i ate hours before came flying up and landed in the ring. Jack Lowe his trainer said whooaaa stop stop!! He thought it was a tooth, HA HA HA!!! Every time I tried to land a punch I would get popped. It was very frustrating so I became a fan.
i did , with this guy , took on all big stars (offcourse he went easy on me)(he got robbed many times) all thse so called big punchers couldnt put a dent in him.

I've sparred with people who became pro's afterwards.
One which was ranked as top 5 in the world at the time in the AM's, welterweight class. He beat Oleg Saitov pretty clearly in the european championship, but got robbed. He even knocked him down in the 2 round. (Saitov is two-times olympic champion)
Needless to say, I got severely spanked as I pissed him off with a picture perfect left hook. Don't think my feet actually touched the ground in those two rounds...:D
Well, that was a long time ago, while I was still green.
The other one I have fought 3 times in the AM's, losing all three mainly because I had bad stamina.
Knocked him down in one though, were the ref counted to 9... If only there had been 10 more seconds left of that fight......
The first one, Anders Styve, turned pro and got on with it well for awhile. Spanking Philip Holiday over 6 rounds in his 5th fight.
He got problems with his eyes though which requiered surgery, but they never healed sufficiently. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=20021&cat=boxer
The other guy, Nikita Dubunin, has just got started with his career, winning his first 7 fights, and one draw.
Yep in the 90's.
