Champion: Michael Grant
Contenders:

Jameel Mccline
shutup with the contradicitng myself shit your stupid reptetetive fuck. You'd of made of a good pidgeon. If anything I'm very consistant.
I am repetative? You just said "I believe Barrera isn't hyped because he is the best featherweight I have seen in a while" about 8 times.
What does he do that warrantes negativity?
I'm not being negative or overly critical with him.
But I know what Arturo Gatti is and what he isn't as far as boxing is concerned.
And I find it somewhat appaling that, to you Roy Jones Jr is more of a "hype-job" than Arturo Gatti.
Both are world-class fighters. But one was #1 pound for pound for nearly a decade.
MCkay is of the royjones subject cause he rearly cant win with his opinion i rearly dont agree with u sayin he was over hyped but anyway i think ricky hatton is over hyped.
Sorry but I have to say it. Oscar De La Hoya. Jim Lamply has been dick riding him ever since i can remember... even when De La is missing with his 8 hyper rapid pussy shots, Lamplys always like "Ferociuous barracade of punches to the body" ....Superhype...After those pictures maybe they really have something more in common. ha
I'd agree with that statement. I think he warrants more tv time than some other HBO fighters.
But you get the sense that when HBO talks about him that he's an all-time great or something. Which he obviously isn't.

Gatti doesn't need anybody to hype him. He fights. He fights hard. People respect him , want to watch him fight.

look mckay must not watch alot of boxin so lets let him have his opinion since every1 is entitled to it.
Also jones got all his losses wen he went back to light heavy from heavywieght his farther told him not to go heavy but he did anyway and he lost his speed so it cost him but he was stil great.
Gotta be Gatti.
All-action? YES
All-heart? Yes
All-exictment? Yes
All-Elite? Noooooo.....

you dont have facts to back up your claim that barrera isnt hbo's hype job...lmfao....you havent responded to any of the facts ive given, of course a fight is always up to interpretation....so i didnt say this is the truth, but whatever you got nothing to say...
what facts? Like Winky over Taylor 8-3-1?
You are starting to sound like a blind fanboy. AGAIN you are contradicting yourself Jones was THE BEST fighter in his day and at his weight. By your standards he is NOT overhyped, otherwise Barrera is also overhyped even if you consider him the best at feather.

Pavlik isnt a hype job though. People forget they were hyping Miranda until Pavlik fucked his shit up.
HBO is pushing hard for Taylor to be a star. This is obvious with the numerous countdown shows, and all of his big fights being on HBO. They think he could be a big star, but I dont see it.
fuck this contracting myself shit. Barrera is the best featherweight in my memory he is. I'm talking here about all fighters sub 130. Jones never beat any great fighter at 175. He never beat the best in the division at 160 or 168.

yeah..
And Taylor Wright was 8-3-1 for Wright. Come back and post in this thread when you've gained the capacity of no less than a chimpanzee ability to score a fight.

Come now... it's not like Barrera beat the living fuck out of Morales in the rounds that you thought he won. I agree with you that Barrera won, but I have a hard time believing that it should be inconceivable to think Morales won.
yeah right if it hadnt been for the bullshit knockdown, it wouldnt be such a controversial decision, not to mention morales outworked and outlanded barrera.... barrera lost to 2 guys morales beat, lost to marquez, and the 2nd fight vs morales was a gift...there shouldnt even have been a trilogy, but whatever...do you remember jim lampley cheering for barrera in the 3rd morales fight just because morales said barrera was hbo's hype....even though barrera said the same shit when erik beat him.....
yeah..

Barrera beat the fuck out of Morales in the first fight. Huge fucking robbery. He also beat Hamed among others and like a true champion always fought the best lost some but came back and won others.

Anybody can pick out a couple of losses from any great fighter's resume and immediately come to the conclusion that they weren't ever any good. You have to be objective and look at the fighter's entire career from start to finish and James Toney had a solid first ballot HOF career as any without a doubt.
And that was the dark age of his career. He did lose to Jones, Montell Griffin x2 some others as welll. He did fade into relative obscurity fighting on Fox Sports cards until re-emergin really in the Jirov fight gaining the cruiserweight title from an undefeated champion in a war.
The same version of James Toney who went on to lose twice to Montell Griffin and sort of faded into obscuririty until resurficing at cruiserweight.
