On Ricky Hatton being a “more exciting” fighter…
FMJ: If you think punching and holding is exciting, then good for you guys. But where I’m from, the sport is called boxing. This is an art. This is a chess game. You guys loved Lennox Lewis right? He was a boxer; he played chess. That’s what I do. I take the least punishment to make the most money. I’m a smart fighter.
On going to war with Ricky Hatton…
FMJ: You’ve seen me in a war. I was in a war with Ndou. I was in a war with Jesus Chavez. You’ve seen me box on my toes. I fought toe-to-toe with DeMarcus Corley. I’ve stood toe-to-toe with guys.
On Hatton’s “dirty” tactics…
FMJ: Over in the U.S., all that dirty fighting isn’t going to fly. Over here, he gets away with a lot of bullshit. He’s an extremely dirty fighter. Over in the U.S., he’s on my turf, and we call the shots. Over here, he fights in small rings and all of that. But when you come over to Vegas, there’s only one
Mayweather.
Its called hit w/out getting hit. PBF is 1000% spot on here. How can anyone other than bloodthirsty UFC F A Ggot type fans want anything else.
Its called boxing...not knockouts. Grow up...
Spot on, lower class hooligans who get a wet patch every time they see a grown man seriously hurt, should stick to UFC.
The skill level in boxing is what separates it from UFC and other contact sports, without that its two animals hitting each other in head repeatedly until one cant continue, and i highly doubt wether that can be a sport, no matter what the MMA guys will say.
Roy was never really loved. Ever.
Ray Leonard and Oscar were loved because they consistently took on the best. They could fight the chumps for years, but sooner or later they knew that they would have to step up. The return investment is actually HIGHER when you are taking on names.
Heeeeeeeeell No :pat:
He has a following because he's exciting. Oscar up until the last couple of years has always been real, exciting. Of course their are a few blimps on the radar (Trinidad) but he has always been real exciting.
I think nationalism has more to do with it than you are saying.
Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya were loved because they won gold medals for the US.
Roy Jones Jr. was loved, but he wasn't always super exciting (did you see his fight with Hopkins?).
Some fighters are loved because they are exciting (like Tyson), but Hatton has a much larger following (proportionally) in England than he does globally.
Hatton IS exciting. That's why thousands upon thousands of fan are venturing oversea's even WITHOUT tickets to watch him fight.
Mayweather probably only has a handful of people from Michigan that are willing to see him fight.
No, that means he has a following.
Your logic would make Oscar De La Hoya the most exciting fighter of all time.
He's not, sorry.
I mean, it might have something to do with it, but I think it more because Hatton is far and away the best fighter from a country in Europe. Europeans have a lot of nationalistic pride (probably because of soccer), and they want to see the best fighter from their country (not the UK, that is Calzaghe) succeed.
No you didn't. You just do not want to acknowledge it because you think that if you do, by some strange form of osmosis, it will affect the fight! It won't. I promise. You can be reasonable, Dios. Try it for once.
Edit: If you will admit that "it's probable" that Mayweather avoided Tszyu at 140, then I promise that I will try and agree with you about some of the bullshit that you constantly spew about Hatton.
Would u get off that, nobody avoided no one. Zoo lost so the figth didn't happen. end of story.

Ayo first of all b, Marlo punked your ass, showed up to YOUR court date and watched the beast take yo ass to jail. second of all, you're gonna tell me that you would much rather see PBF dance around the ring throwing pot shots and not taking any risk than watch shane mosley or miguel cotto or israel vasquez try to fight a smart fight but at the same time let their thirst for GLORY and PRIDE dictate the fight rather than statistics and money?
But...he did stand toe to toe with guys.
Have you actully not seen Floyds fights???
After Castillo, his first fight was N'dou. Floyd tried to go toe to toe with N'dou and was severely pressed. I don't think his fights after N'dou are particularly noted for Floyd going toe to toe. I mean I've seen them. He has moments especially when his opponent is ready to go, but generally speaking Floyd does not go "toe to toe" at all. IMO
Any boxer that has to say to the media: "I've stood toe to toe with guys," is a boxer that knows that he really does not stand toe to toe with guys.

I dont think there is one PBF fight that was more exciting than a DLH fight.
You haven't watched all or even a majority of his fights. Don't get me wrong he has had some very exciting fights, but he has had some stinkers as well.
not everyone can be like oscar.
tranny can have a boring superfight and still sell large ppvs and keep his fan base.
