Let's face it Mosley was never one to run away from a challenge. His ring accomplishments are nothing short of spectacular. He demonstrated his craft while blasting his way through the lightweight division and venturing to the 154lb limit. He knew what he was up against in his highly competitive matches with the likes of Vernon Forest and Winky Wright. He understood that these fighters were physically Bigger than he, but nontheless he stepped to the plate. I would have loved to see De La Hoya mix it up with these two opponents (True Boxing fans understand that these were HIGH RISK fighters). Oscar's camp and he himself saw those as potential (I say guaranteed) losses. Fighters with excellent right hands are Oscar's worst nightmares. For this reason most of the top fighters in the respective divisions followed suit with rediculous excuses (they don't generate enough interest, the type of style SUGGESTS a boring fight; whatever). Shane has demonstrated his ring supremacy over his illustrious career, compiling wins and Knockout after Knockout, only to have his accomplishments dwarfed by the "STAR POWER", not talent, of De La Hoya. With DLH seemingly out of the Limelight (courtesy of Mayweather) it is Mosley who will don the gloves for his epic showdown with fast rising "Star" Miguel Cotto. What better way to catapult his Second Coming. Mosley has risen to the occasion on several outings and this fight is not off the radar. To the Lay boxing fan, this fight is out of reach, Mosley is too old. Well I, and others alike will say that Mosley has aged like fine wine. Sure...for the average "aged" fighter (battle tested, severe knockout losses, reckless wars) this would seem like Russian Roulette. Mosley is NOT your average fighter. And post De La Hoya,.... Mosley's star will no longer be overshadowed. Be weary fellow welterweights, he's back where he belongs.
What the hell? How could anyone say Mosley fought better opposition than Oscar? lol.
At lightweight he fought guys like Shannon Taylor, Adrian Stone, He did beat Leija and Yori boy however as well as Wilfredo Ruiz.
But I don't see how that compares to Oscar beating Camacho, JCC, Yori Boy, Quartey, Whitaker, Ruelas, Hernandez, Maromero, Santa Tokyo,
Fuck you name it. Oscar whipped everyone's ass between lightweight and Welterwieght in his prime.
Either past their prime or questionable win........you pick

That is going to be the Mega matchup for 2008
Mosley-Mayweather.
Yeah it could very welll be. Hopefully we just get a great fight from SHane and Cotto where regardless both guys win in some sort of moral way. Two good guys.
no problem there should be some more coming. But yeah if Shane wins, it would be huge. Even though I expect him to win. Cotto is a young lion with a lot to prove. If Mosleys wins impressiviely Floyd has no choice but to fight him.

I agree one thing about Mosley is that he has never backed down from a fight. He is willing and capable of beating anyone he steps in with. Sure thinghaven't gone his way in a few instances. But it shouldn't define him.
I agree.
People have put an unbelievable amount of emphasis on Shane's downfall.
What's good about steptwome's initial post is that it reminds us that Shane is still in the midst of making his own personal history.
It's just getting started. I believe and understand that.
This is MUCH bigger than Miguel Cotto.
