We all know about the war between UFC and Boxing. UFC has spike tv which everyone has. Boxing has HBO, Showtime and Skysports which none are actualy free channels. I think the sport would really benefit if one of those broadcasting channels became completely free and only charged for PPV's every once and awhile and not for fights including shannon briggs
yeah that channel versus does not show much boxing at all,
espn classic i think is the best for the most recent and classic boxing events,
but we do need a channel just for boxing,
the golf channel, nba tv, nfl network, speed channel, espnU, why not the boxing channel with your host max kellerman and lennox lewis, yeah sure, lol
but suttin like that would be nice all day non-stop with exclusive interviews,
up and coming boxers, from amateurs to pro-boxing it would be great,
And boxing on ESPN2 has become seasonal now :nonono: . What is it, spring or something before they start back friday night fights? And wed. night fights is just a spring thing I think.
vs. doesnt show that much boxing...
atleast when i used to check it (about 6 months ago) it never had boxing on. maybe thats changed now
Every Thurs. has a live fight or fight replay and Legends of the Ring appears periodically. Tonight they showed Foreman vs. Morrison. To be fair, they also show WEC, but I imagine their boxing is shown more than UFC during a week. Now if you include the UFC reality show and take into account the Tap Out show and WEC, then VS. isn't the best boxing example. ESPN Classic has boxing nearly every night at 8 and 12 and sometimes in the early morning and often has weekend blocks of fights...
Money, if boxing was unified I think it would have enough power to garner it's own channel. However, it isn't.

umm no, why?
Oh just noting on the walks on water in your user title.

LOL - yeah, try and get these promoters to split revenues and agree on broadcasting schedules and advertising...
If people weren't always fighting over who owned what rights to what, we might see legitimate DVD releases of classic fights too...
VS. and ESPN2 (free channels) show more hours of boxing each week than Spike shows UFC and if you include ESPN Classic, which many households get as a regular cable channel, you can add the IFL, Bodog, Pride repeats to the UFC total and boxing still has more airtime on free cable...

I was thinking about this as well. I think a International Channel available to all countries featuring quality fights from all over the world. They don't really even have to be live so much, maybe a few days delay or something. It could be a good way for promoters to make some money of the video rights etc. And in the slow months, why not air some Classics.
The big fights would be still on HBO PPV etc.
I know I'm dreaming, but it would be great.

Their was talks, years ago of having a all boxing channel. From what i remember it was going to be like a ESPN classic showing nothing but old fights. Showtime agreed, HBO about did untill Don King tryed to get involved then I never heard about it again.
Don King tends to do that to alot of things and people.
