I read it in BOXING DIGEST.
I think its easy to agree that DURAN would destroy MAYWEATHER when he was at lightweight.
THe Magazine claimed that Mayweather was in his prime then? not a chance
Mayweather has developed defensively a ton since then. Thats teh main thing.
Castillo got to Mayweather and was connecting a lot of punches in the mid-late rounds.
Duran hits much harder then Castillo, a lot faster, much more relentless and fearless, and i think this would be a quick fight for Duran.
Higher up in weight its a different story. And maybe if Mayweather fought at Leightweight NOW, maybe it would be a different story. But Duran is one of the great Lightweights of all time, Mayweather is just a great lightweight
Duran cant beat Mayweather.
I believe Sugar Ray Leonard had much chance on beating floyd.
Leonard had too much for Floyd IMO.
Duran wouldnt give him the time and space to pot shot. Floyd can be backed up, and he covers up, Duran hurts him that way. It would be like Castillo x 10.
Leonard beat Duran in their rematch by throwing blistering flurries as Duran rushed him, Floyd doesnt throw those kinds of combos. He is too careful, waiting for his moments to pot shot.
Duran at lightweight was too fast, feet and hands, and his constant pressure would be too much for Floyd to deal with.
Duran and Mayweather don't belong in the same sentence, let alone the same ring... :nonono:
No chance at all? Not even a glimmer of hope that Mayweather could hang with him? Wow, you would be a great oddsmaker for boxing.
At 509348509348509348503948530948530495830495830498 to 1 Mayweather UD12 Duran
I'd probably take those odds.
Does anyone know how many HOF fighter Duran fought at Lightweight? just curious. Im sure Esteban De Jesus is one, but other than that, Duran's wins at Lightweight were not over HUGE name guys
Buchanan, he won that fight on a low blow.

Roberto Duran at light weight would have blasted Floyd out of the arena. Only a deluded, half drunk, Mayweather sycophant could see it any other way. Some here on the site have actually agreed that Mayweather could have knocked out George Foreman in his prime. I thought they were joking of course. Now I'm not so sure.
Castillo landed his hooks all night long on Mayweather in their first fight(considered a robbrery by many)what makes you think Chavez or Duran can't?DLH might of not been able to land as many punches because his style is a little bit distinctive from Chavezs or Castillos.DLH tends to jab first and Chavez and Castillo faint and use their outstanding timing to beat speed.
The 2nd Mayweather-Castillo fight makes your credibility go down a little bit. Please remember that Castillo I was Mayweather's first fight at lightweight, and he continued to look better and better in every fight he had lightweight, remember the N'dou fight? If not, download it from my signature and tell me that he is open for any kind of punch.

by on his bike I mean ring movement. Chavez was never that fazed by that.
Camacho had unbelievable hand speed, are you kidding me?
hell I remember Floyd getting tagged skirting the ropes against fucking Manfredy...Chavez bombs to the body, and usually could throw short straight rights just to mark up and catch elusive fighters, which I think would work very effectively against Floyd. Chavez I dont expect Floyd to get KOed but he gets outpointed down the stretch.
Ive seen plenty of Mayweathers fights. hell, his are some of the easiest to get out of any active fighter. theres not many I havent seen.
He doesn't have to be fazed all it has to do is be effective. Then you also remember PBF beating the shit out of Manfredy and every fighter gets hit. Its about how much they get hit and PBF doesn't get hit a lot. I never said Camacho didn't have great handspeed all I said was at lightweight you can't say he was that much faster if he was even faster than PBF at lightweight. Thats not saying Camacho didn't have great speed. One of Chavez's best punches was his left hook and it frustrated him that he couldn't land that punch on Whitaker and it frustrated De la Hoya that he couldn't land his left hook on PBF. Basically I am saying even though that clearly wasn't Chavez's only punch it was very important to his game plan. I think it would frustrate him by not being able to land that punch on PBF. Which would mak him change is game plan some.
Not that I was just expecting you to post in THIS particular thread, considering the different array of opinions, I was hoping for a more detailed response in your first post but it is good to see what you believed to be the outcome in this one.
I'd get into more detail but im at the college campus lab and bout to leave.. talk to y'all later. peace.
:bryce: all mayweather hater.mayweather is too fast and strong @ 135.mayweater will paralyzed duran in early round .:haha: :nana:
hey, its my number one fan! I'd sign an autograph but I'm kind of busy.
And why is that? You don't see me in every Duran thread like the floyd boys are in every one of his.
Floyds style is perfect for Duran and Durans style is all wrong for Floyd.
Many people underestimate Durans defense and focus mainly on his offense but Duran had a great defense as well. Floyd would not be able to hurt Duran or take his punches... Floyd doesn't throw enough to keep Duran away and at bay.

Speed isn't the only part of the equation and at lightweight Camacho was not much faster if he was even faster than PBF. PBF overall fight game and skills puts him a whole different league than Camacho. PBF has always countered so that wouldn't even be a issue. Making opponents miss also makes them tired. PBF has never gotten on his bike so what are you talking about. Do you know the type of fighter PBF was at lightweight compared to how he fights now? There is a very big difference.
