I'm not speaking about the American public as i think the majority are knowledgable enough to have their own opinions but why do the american media, such as the boxing mags and papers, not give british or european fighters the credit they deserve, or at least the publicity.

For the same reason the general public don't: When you've seen the quality of a fighter up close and the quality of their opponents then you can accurately gauge the quality and write about it. If you are unfamiliar with the fighter and their opponents then you don't have any reason to be excited about it.
