Kessler had a back problem for this fight, but still went in against the much-improved and slippery mundine for a shut out.
See how Mundine gets on his bike at the first hint of kess's power.
I think there will be an upset on the cards with the Welsh Dragon being extinguished.............. ! :boxing:

The link doesn't work for me... It takes forever to load. I've seen almost all of kesslers fights. But I wanted to see this link because my computer crashed I don't have all his fights anymore. .
You can download the fight here

I scored it 117-111 for kessler, although the commentary was quite good overall, they were quite generous with some of the rounds they scored even and for mundine.
Me the idiot? Look at the combinations Kessler let go during that fight, and tell me if he was limited. Because he threw some good combinations, and there was no sign of a back injury. Sure he had surgery, but they he would have fully recovered. Don't believe the 8 day thing, more like 21 days. Stop trying to discredit Mundine for fighting a good fight.
Im sure the basis for Calzaghes study on Kessler, largely revolves around the Mundine fight.
I've always given Mundine credit on this forum. I do believe he is the only other proven fighter in the top 5, besides the two at the top spots.
But I know Kessler well enough to say the work rate sucks in that fight, compared to his standards.. He doesn’t throw half as much as he's used to.
He looks a bit tired in the corner as well.
Kessler was forced to make the fight happen. He wasn't mandatory when he got it, and WBA would have striped him if the Mundine fight wasn't made in a hurry..
110% - sure..
He grossed 3.5 million from the Green fight alone. Green made a lot less than Mundine.
I think 30 million is exaggerated. I would have it around 10 million.
No 30 sounds about right. All his fights have been on PPV in Australia. Plus live gate.
i need to see Kessler's tattooist, that tattoo is pretty sweet
Here are some

It was the turn around fight for Mundine. We all know he has the speed, power and ability, but he needed to show his fans some heart. He was great throughout this fight.
For any one to say that Kessler smashed him is kidding themselves. Mundine proved Kesslers greatest test to this day. And for any one to say Kessler went into this fight with an injury, is seriously a Kessler nut hugger. No fighter in this generation goes into a fight injured, especially the top fighters, theres to much to lose. And Kesslers manager is to smart to bring him into the ring, at anything less than 110% health.
Im a pretty good scorer. And Kessler won this fight by 2 rounds. 2 of my friends agreed with me, the other friend said it was 3 rounds to Kessler. I will say it now and say it again, Mundine has all the potential to be a star in this sport.
He only had 4 amateur fights. And im sure in his next few fights we will see a boxer at his peak.
Mundine has improved since that last outing. Im confident he could beat Kessler in a rematch.
Kessler did have a back injury, and the fight date had to be pushed a month.. Don't you remember?
He did have back surgery once already in his career.
Fact is, he didn't resume sparring until 8 days before the fight, and was far from his best. A five week break in preparations does matter; you must be an idiot to think otherwise.
Good choice, got the same idol, just lacking the talent :)
Mundine has an excellent jab, Roy wasn't using it as much. They also don't have the same defense, Roy relied on his left hook. I good go on and on, but sometimes Mundine chooses to fight like Roy.
Like Mosley, hmm I think he is more of a mix of a few boxers.
He is one of the best suppermiddleweights out there. His fighting style looks cool and he is entertaining. I have to say I first have seen him in the green fight with full intro and stuff. Very good show, great atmosphere and nobody handled Green like that. After that I searched and watched some clips of him.
Really liked what I've seen and waited for his fight against Soliman, which was also great.
He still improves a lot, thats what I also like about him. With Calzaghe getting old and that tough fight with Kessler he is a force at smw. He looks like he probably could make middleweight. He would rule there.
Why does he have so many links to Roy Jones Junior? I know that he is trained by Roy Sr. But he has the same stuff from Jones shoes at his trunks, raps, own clothes, raps, style etc ???
Mundine would be a better middleweight in my opinion.
I can never forget about how he mundine took the p*ss out of Ottke, saying he 'Hit like a girl' - only to be starched by him !
One of only something 4 KO's out of 30+ fights !
Oh in Australia he is. He has made $30 million from fighting. Yes i can see how you think that of him. Just that hes a nice guy, im sure if you met him you would understand.fair enough. and $30 million sure as hell isn't anything to scoff at. NO wonder Chauncy Welliver fights in that region and Shane Cameron won't come out of hiding. Hell I would fight in Europe if they would license me. The money is always better in countries that care about the sport.
Its funny how the dumb fall for petty tricks. Mundine was taken out of context on the 9/11 thing, read the transcript. Secondly Mundine does these publicity things before his fights and everyone hates him for it, then buy his PPV to see him get knocked out, and he makes heaps of money. Mundines not like that in real life.
I Have met him on numerous occassions. I could safely say we are distant friends. He shakes my hand every time i see him, and is a humble nice man, very caring etc etc.
He sells himself like this to the media, everyone buys it, he makes money. Hes a family man and a nice bloke. If your dumb enough to fall for his antics and believe he is really like this, than i really don't want to have to argue with you.
oh im not arguing, way to focus on that one part though. Mundine isn't a known enough of an entity o really cash in on being a villain. I don't know him, never talked to him, basically all I have is how he portrays himself with commetns and flag burnings. So in that respect I'm not fond of him. As a fighter he WAS a very good fighter.
@Ultimateboxa: Good to hear this.
Ah please tell me how did Mundine lost against Siaca? He now is thrice the fighter Siaca is, I just can't imagine how he lost and I haven't seen the fight.
Edit: Mundine should have countered Kessler much more often. Kessler throws every punch with power and is often wide open, Kessler comes away with this, because of his speed and his opponents respect of his power, but if Mundine would have thrown some punches while being in defensive mode, this fight would have been closer.
It was the turn around fight for Mundine. We all know he has the speed, power and ability, but he needed to show his fans some heart. He was great throughout this fight.

Don't you think that you could possibly sound like a Mundine nuthugger? And your a bit nieve to think that no fighters even top fighters don't go into fights with injuries. I know of several big fights in which fighters go in with injuries and several times in which they don't. Everybody loses out on money when a fighter pulls out of a fight and the pressure can be a lot especially for those guys who don't have a large bank account. Now I'm not saying that Kessler was or was not hurt, I don't know of the situation, but the fight wasn't as close as you feel. The truth, I can't stand Mundine as a person; another truth, he is a very skilled fighter and is underrated due to his political views. The man has learned a lot about fighting over the years, but apparently no common sense, who the hell licks a contact and puts it back into their eye? The eye thing will for the most part end his career, at least on an elite level. Thats a shame, but sometimes it happens. Mundine equates to a very good contender and probably the number 3 SMW of the past 5 years.
Down under means australian? I don't know what it means, just guessing. I'm from germany. Kessler takes over from round 3 on.
Edit: I think in a rematch Kessler wins still, but a lot closer than 120 -108 117 - 113 116 - 112
Maybe more like 116 - 112 115 - 113 115 - 113
But only if Mundine recovers from his injury and take some other fights before. Mundine improved since that fight, and handled Greens pressure very well, but Green isn't on Kesslers level and Mikkel looks like a fuckin light heavy ( green is now, but didn't looked like one)
Thanks man, i always wanted to see this fight. I like the liveforum more and more
Mundine's eye is hurt right now, maybe this helps him going down to middleweight like he said he maybe wanted to do. He would be a killer there.
Edit: I'm watching it right now, had the first round 10- 9 Mundine
Second was closer but Mundine edged it,maybe I'm too fucking biased towards Mundine.
