Why is mma discussed so much in this boxing forum.???

Simply because MMA is gaining popularity and Boxing fans feel threatened. With big money and its rich history, Boxing isn't going anywhere. Don't worry.

I haven't seen that so much. Most boxing fans don't seem to have more than peripheral awareness of mma. And to most casual fans UFC is MMA. White's name dropped both boxers, boxing and issued challenges. I don't recall a single boxer ever issuing a challenge to any MMA fighter to compete against them under Queensbury rules ever. That said, I like MMA as a whole and like boxing some UFC fights are better than others.

Now is the UFC and MMA in general in competition with boxing? I think so. Competition is good and should ideally result in competitors fighting to put out a better product. Fight fans dollars decide who wins in the end. boxing fans seem to care a lot more ... only way you dont care is if you are a fan of both (like myself)

Cyril Abidi isn't much of a conquest though. Same with Botha who had his title yanked days withing winning it for pissing hot. The endless comparisons the commentators make ie, Goldberg 'You know Roy Jones respects the hands of Randy Couture'. I like both sports, there is a big enough market for both sports to flourish and coexist with one another while still making a ton of money. Oh wait that IS what is going on right now.

People imagine the UFC is some kind of enemy. Also, they overlook how boxing has improved, how the media explosion has brought us more access, and in general how this is the best time ever to be a boxing fan, and they instead long for some mythical past when everyone followed the fights. And somehow the popularity of UFC seems a problem to them, though it has little to do with boxing as we get to see it

Mayweather-Dlh was a bad fight, but the announcers werent calling it great. the UFC announcers last night were callin that a great fight, and that 40+ year old guy guest commentating (couture?) also said it was a great fight tey said that at the end . when right after they traded. thesame happened with dlh-maywheater . the last round , the last minutes always leaves a great impression and you kinda forget the whole fight. that fight was a technical top skilled fight . 2 fighters that with a lot of experience kinda neutralize each other.if you understand the fight game , and watched it a lot , you would be impressed too with rampage controlling a 2 time olympic wrestler

that main event wasn't great , it wasn't bad . silva - henderson , silva-jackson , those fights are great . fight last night was not the biggest fight ever. they are both former pride fighters , that fight could have happened so many times in pride . they just knocked out the 2 big dogs in silva and liddell , now silva and liddell would have been the biggest fight in MMA ever. oh and delahoya - maywheather wasnt that the biggest fight in years??? and according to many that fight wasnt that entertaining too.... even pro boxers hated it . judah , hatton .... Boxing is having a REALLY slow month, MMA just had there biggest fight of the year last night... why in the world would they be talkin boxing? see, right now we CAN insult UFC cause last night sucked badly and apparently that main event was great... lol, thats sooooo not true and you know it. MMA fans are CONSTANTLY bashing boxing, even the UFC announcers do it on the air for the fights!!!!!! And theres at LEAST 50 videos on youtube where a guy is just hating on boxing for 5-10 minutes. theres like none from boxing fans, and if there is its only as a response to those MMA videos. MMA fans are the ones that started all this, i hope ur aware of that sherdog has so many more members , so many more threads ... and im pretty sure that in this place mma gets more thread , then boxing gets in sherdog .

wrong again , what you say happens in every sport , theres a rivalry between Real madrid and barcelona in soccer, rivalry between barrera and morales , rivarly between wanderlei silva and rampage jackson etc etc etc.... but i really don't know of any rivalrys between sports like .. soccer, basketball , football ,.... its just with boxing , boxing fans have the urge to constantly bash it because the media portrays mma as the next big great thing and it will surpass boxing and this and that....
