Bob Arum says that if Pavlik beats Taylor, He'll try and get Pavlik on Cable Tv!!! Which would be amazing fight Boxing, words couldnt describe how good tha could be.
Even if your the diest of diehard Taylor fans, IF your man loses know that a lot of good could come out of it, so its not all bad.
PS: I know im favoring Pavlik a lot in my posts, but if Taylor wins ill be the first one on here giving him his props
EDIT: who agrees with this idea? All fights between UP AND COMERS, should be put on Basic Cable for the world to see. That way, regardless of who wins, its a win-win situation for the sport of boxing. thoughts?
The problem with deciding how good a fighter is based on his resume is the fact that you are completely neglecting to analyze the fighter himself.
Trying to make a prediction based on numbers is missing the point of boxing.
On paper, Taylor looks like a really solid fighter. Undefeated, good opponents, decent knock-out percentage.
You have to look past the statistics. Taylor is a fighter that has been VERY carefully managed. His management team has kept him away from power puncher for as long as they realistically could.
They matched him up with GOOD, and I emphasize GOOD, fighters that he could dismantle with his Jab, which is why it was such a prevalent weapon earlier in his career.
His last 3 fights have been against southpaws. This wasn't by accident. Taylors team chose light hitting southpaws because they would have a much harder time capitalizing on his increasingly low left hand.
His management team isn't stupid. They fully realize that if Taylor loses, their paychecks get much smaller. Consequently, they have done a very good job of putting him in with GOOD fighters that suit his style.
Unfortunately for Taylor management team, they didn't get to pick Pavlik. Pavlik is not a hand picked opponent, and Taylor will be in for a very hard night.
After being visibly stunned several times against the feather-fisted Cory Spinks, I personally have a very hard time seeing Taylor come out of the fight on his feet.
Yes, I agree that Pavlik has a very good chance against Taylor. Taylor comes across as a fighter that's been overprotected. On the other hand, Pavlik came up from the trenches. I'll take Pavlik in a surprisingly easy win.
wow you call fighting against bernard hopkins twice and winky wright being overprotective??
ok its official
you know what nevermind
no comment
Fans of Pavlik are more annoying than the fans of Mayweather? I know there are some cool Floyd fans, but those people have become more difficult to find. Anywhere.
Thank you.
Dude, you just don't get it. Damn, I don't even know if I can spell it out for you. In my opinion, Taylor has become very difficult to like in the last few years. If you really can't understand that there is a multitude of reasons for that, I just don't have the desire to type it all out.
I like Pavlik alot. I will still find him to be worthy of my interest both as a boxer, and most certainly as a person, even if he should lose to Taylor on the 29th.
Thank you.......
Naw its cool that you're a fan and all,but geez. You make the nuthugging Mayweather and Tyson fans look unbiased. The dude got some kos ok.He beat an weight drained Miranda,ok. Who else that is a top Contender has he beaten?

Whao had taylor beaten beofre he fought B-Hop? It's the same situation, except that Taylor was pedigreed along.
Thank you.
Well besides Joppy,I guess no one huge, but he never got threated as if he's the Mike Tyson/Ali of the division. You guys are taking this Pavlik talk alittle too far.As if he's the Undisputed Champion and not Taylor. I havnt ever seen an little known guy take so punch spotlight from an elite fighter thats undisputed, undefeated and has fought elites,EVER!

eesh, you lost all the credibility you gained from that first statement, with that second statement... :nonono:
Pavlik actually has a pretty good D, and as good a chin as Ouma has, i would definetly pick Pavlik to destroy Ouma, where as taylor decisioned him and landed some awsome shots.
I dont think these two guys are on seperate levels at all. This is almost an even fight IMO. I think that the disadvatages Pavlik has in Speed and footwork, are equalled by Pavliks ability to cut off the ring, his decent defense, and his nonstop pressure.
whatever criticism can be layed on Miranda you cant take away from the fact that the guy has a first class chin. I dont see any guys at 160 standin up to an assault like the one pavlik put on Edison.Brutal plus pavlik's body work was very impressive and you could see miranda's legs go after he was hit in the body.
i want pavlik to win and hope he can step up his learning curve because taylor
is on a higher level.don't think a lot of you are considering that point enough.
and ouma is on a higher level than pavlik.
remember how good everyone thought miranda was.including me.
pavlik gets hit alot.

Pavliks big advantage in this fight is simple. Power, and accuracy. JT is not a slick guy who gets in and out all night. He is a guy who opens up to be hit when he throws himself. He also doesnt seem to like to get hit. I noticed this in the Spinks fight, I think it was the 2nd round when Spinks zipped him with a straight left. He visibly flinched after the punch like damn that really hurt! It probably did but it seemed like he was unwilling, except in spots to really open up on Spinks and overly cautious. How do you think he will react when Pavlik lands a hard right on him? If he starts backing up it will not go well for him. I will be watching for this. Jermain also seems to have a little problem with swelling of the eyes. Maybe this is from cutting weight so hard but Wright had his eye pretty much closed.

That would be so huge for the sport. Let's go Pavlik. The man's a monster. I want him to win like crazy but it'll be damn hard to get through Taylor. Possible but hard. I also agree that up-and-comers should fight on cable.
First of all Ouma is a volume puncher he has never been know for having power. I'm not saying that it'snot solid competiton, but you said it yourself skilled fighters at 154. Ouma was taylor made for Taylor in that he was smaller, had no pop and was gonna come right at him, and eventhough he hit him wityh some good shots Ouma walked through them and kept coming and backing him up. This fight was served up on a platter for him to look good and he couldn't even put Ouma down, much less stop him. Spinks also is a feather fisted, jr middleweight that was smaller and yes has skill but is not an elite fighter, and your whole mayweather theory I completely agree with. Don't even get me started on him. All I am saying is that if he fights the way he did in his last three fights, he could be in trouble. the thing is that Ouma didn't have the power to apply with the preasure, and if he lets vlik back him up and put him on the ropes, he has the power to hurt taylor.
I agree with that assessment but I also believe that since Pavlik is a righty it will be easier for Taylor to fight his fight and not worry about a straight left or right hook. Pavlik is strong beyond a doubt and I will give him that but then you also have to give Taylor the edge with fighting the caliber of fighters he has. Hence in this fight I have to go with experience in big fights. To beat someone like Hopkins twice, even if it is disputed, is an accomplishment in itself. Pavlik is no where near as crafty as Hopkins or a defensive master as Winky. I have to go with Taylor with this in mind.
what does it matter to YOU that I think pavlik is overrated?
thats my opinion
i didnt discredit pavlik and say he was garbage or anything
i think he is a decent fighter and can be a challenge to taylor
im just upset with the lack of respect taylor is receiving for this fight
he's pretty much being regarded as the underdog and he's the fuckin champion
he's been in the ring and held is own with hopkins twice, winky, ouma, and spinks
the fights may not have been the most exciting but its really difficult to look good fighting those opponents, the last 3 being southpaw, and hopkins and wright being defensive masterminds
im just saying there's no way pavlik should be regarded as the favorite to win
he has only beaten miranda
who's a big puncher but lacks any kind of boxing skills
thats all im saying mr mckay
co-sign.........
What does it matter if you think he's overrated, he's a legimate challenger deserving of a title shot, he gets the regard a fighter in that position does.
Legitimate Challenger:A challenger that has a real chance to win, to win in impressive fashion, to score a KO.

Miranda did rock Pavlik a couple of times in the fight and that is a weak a$$ Miranda that didn't eat for three days just to make weight. Taylor's not starving himself and becoming Bulimic for this fight; so it will be a competative and difficult fight for Pavlik. I think people here don't give Taylor his props because his last three fights. Let me just say that 3 south paws in a row who were two pure boxers in Wright and Spinks and a puncher in Ouma is nothing to be shameful about. The fact that Mayweather gets credit for accepting to fight a 140 pounder who in my opinion got beat by Collazo at 147 doesn't make sense if you guys put down taylor for fighting Ouma and Spinks both who are skilled fighters at 154 and gave Taylor a hell of a fight at 160. Kind of hypocritical if you ask me. Hell I'm going for Taylor in this fight.

I'm more than a casual fan. I dont like watching fights where there's virtually no chance of a knockout. And they're overly concerned with the business asecpt of the sport, I'd fight these guys and go 6 rounds getting my ass kicked for a couple grand, these guys are greedy bastards and have brought the sport down. Kelly Pavlik is fresh air to that.
I can agree with that to a certain extent. I'm a fan of Mayweather and Hopkins' ability to bring opponets down to their pace, but other technical fighters like Wright just bore me to death. I hope Pavlik is able to capitalize on his opportunity on the 29th and make the most of it, he's a guy with the same attitude as Taylor in regards to wanting to fight anybody. But unlike Taylor he's an exciting pressure fighter rather than a slick boxer.
Not the most talented fighter in the division but he's scrappy as hell and fun to watch.
Pavlik Is a legitmate challenger. And how legimate challengers are regarded.
The last legitimate contender I remember that wasnt a Underdog by this big of a margin was Mike Tyson vs. Berbick.
Really I think any boxers on Network TV could only help the sport. Unless you're talking technical fighters like Mayweather and Hopkins and Wright, because those guys seem to only appeal to those of us who understand what they're doing. To the casual fan they just "run" and pop shots, but what we see is a defensive shell that is impossible to crack.
I can't think of many fighters who've been on Network TV recently, aside from Mayweather and Oscar doing the rounds for their fight. But over the years, especially in the 80's, you had guys like Hagler, Leonard, Ali, Frazier, etc.. And in the 90's you had Tyson, Foreman, etc.....

If he beats Pavlik convincingly, and not another bullshit contreversial decision. i don't see that happening though. If he happens to win I don't see it being anything but that. There is no way he is hurting Pavlik, if Miranda hit him with flush shots and couldn't hurt or put him down. I think Pavliik is gonna preasure him and be right in his face the whole fight, and that could be trouble for Taylor.

ABC IS NOT CABLE! IT'S NETWORK TV!
And Pavlik WAS on cable TV prior to the Miranda fight when OLN/Versus started their Bob Arum show. Bob can put Kelly on that channel whenever he wants; it's just money he's playing with...
jeez relax.
OLN has no viewers and almost nobody gets that channel. Many many many many many many more people watch HBO.
If he puts him on "Network Tv" he could get plenty more people seeing him and loving him.
VERSUS pulls down no money, its a waste of a good fight to put pavlik on there.
i mean basic cable. like ESPN or ABC or something
ABC isn't cable it is national, and if the Middleweight champion on the world is shown fighting on national tv I will be so freaking stoked, would be great for boxing.
he was asked if he would, and theres a big push for an exciting fight to be put on Cable...
Pavlik, whether you love him or hate him, will always deliver an action packed fight. So he's a sure thing to put on ABC or something and get GREAT results every time.
