i think its strange people keep comparing the outcome of a tua/wlad fight to the tua/lewis fight, wlad and lewis have alot on common in they're fighting styles, only lewis did it twice as good ...
EDIT: sorry i meant wlad in the title
I guess time will tell. Its actually kind of dissapointing that Wlad fights so effectively now, his ass was nuts back in the day. He was an offensive beast! People talk about a lack of exciting heavyweight fights, but people tend to forget that Wlad's fight with Brewster was an oustanding fight. really, FOTY quality in my opinion.
Id still argue that Lennox had the more complete set of punches though. He could land jabs from the strangest angles sometimes, and his right hand I would still argue is more devastating than Wlad's and he could do way more with it. I would have to say that Wlad has the better left hand overall though. But lets be honest...we havent seen the new him against a multitude of opponents as of YET. so Im still reserving judgement in way, but have high hopes.
oh btw comparing how Wlad would fight Tua with how Lennox did isnt accurate. why? Lewis really hurt Tua, but to the body. Wlad barely ever goes to the body. Tua's defense was always pretty tight too upstairs. I would easily say that Wlad would beat Tua, but not at all in the same way that Lewis did.
How can a one-sided jab fest be a candidate for fight of the year? I'm lost on that one, and this coming from a Juan Diaz fan, his fight with Freitas was leagues ahead of Klitschko/Brewster, entertainment wise. Unless you meant their first fight?
You bring up some of Lewis's advantages, and I acknowledge them: infighting, uppercuts, durability. But he's also more hittable than Wlad is, so he has to be more durable.
But the points I make hold. Wlad has the best jab probably of all time, better handspeed, more two-fisted power, better overall technique in his punches. He's also more dedicated to his craft.
I think Wlad has the better tool set. Of course Lewis had the better career, but Wlad has plenty of time to eclipse that. At the age of thirty Lennox was not as good and had not done as much as Wlad has.

Klitschko needs to as elusive as is humanly possible in a boxing ring. i can never imagine him in a war and emerging the victor, but that's not style, his chin and natural caution won't ever allow him to engage in a 'war'.
Those of you who are saying Wlad is not relaxed, or elusive in the ring... you should see some of Wlad's Pre-Sanders fights. (e.g. Wlad / Byrd I)
Sanders KDs damaged Wlad...
But he is a different fighter now.. he's Boxing skills are so superior that he doesn't even need to engage in exchanges to land his own.
Granted he took some punishment to the body from Brock, as well as some clean punches.. (Lederman's card was even at one point) but when he got cut he took Brook right out..
Other than Sanders, today he will really dominates the ring against any other HW.
Yes, people can make a case that the HW division sucks. They are the same people who've been saying that there is no "dominant HW" today. Then you get Wlad, who dominates and the division sucks now.
If it wasn't for the Eastern Europeans, who did a clean sweep... you'd have the same old gang (Ruiz, Byrd, Briggs ruling the division with some new faces like Brewster) if that was the case.. no one would even complain. Perhaps if Lewis didn't fight Vitali, I'm sure we would have seen a few more of Lennox's fights. (At that time it was either rematch Vitali or retire. Fighting Anyone else would have been pointless)

I'll grant that much. I just need to hammer these points home again and again. I've actually been watching a good bit of Lennox, and in terms of his skill and physical ability he's terrific but nowhere near Wlad. A lot of things troubled him, too. He wasn't someone who never lost a round or never got in trouble. Wlad is, and maybe that has to do in some way with what you correctly point out
Although a big Lewis fan, I agree largely with what you say. The only difference is proving it. Wlad has been really good over the last two years and is rightly regarded as the premier HW, but wins over Brock, Brewster (he should never have lost to him in the first place) and Austin aren't going to convince the doubters.
woah, not a chance man. in terms of speed, I think Wlad outdoes Lennox, his jab and right hands are straight and incredibly quick for his size, and pack a lot of power.
but Lennox was much more versitle than Wlad. Lennox was a far better in-fighter, had a monsterous uppercut(which Wlad has none much to speak of), and Lennox could throw his right hand in tons of different ways, Wlad only has his straight right pretty much. Left hook Wlad is a little bit ahead.
I thought Lewis also had more strategies he could put into effect, a WAY better body puncher, and arguably had better stamina and durability. I wont talk about heart, because honestly, Wlad has really NEVER given up in a fight. He doesnt fight ack when hes hurt, but he sticks in there and doesnt give up, and comes back if he can. so I wont say nothin bad about him there.
Lewis's offensive abilites are underrated. he had excellent offensive abilities.
heres pretty much a highlight of his career. its very good, yall should watch it.

There was something in prime Lewis that I could never see in Wlad. Lewis was very relaxed in the ring, whereas I can always sense some kind of tension in Wlad, even the later version of it. Vitali was just as realxed and hopefully will be on his return. Lewis got more heart as well, IMO.
Definitely! Lewis also took shots better than Wlad does. Could you see Wlad standing up to the shots Vitali hit Lewis with? I certainly can't, he was nowhere near as vulnerable as Wlad.
Lennox's right hand was also a more effective weapon than Wladimir's, both hit damn hard but Lewis was better at landing the big one.

Nah, Wlad has surpassed Lewis is ability, he does everything much better than Lennox did, and is the naturally superior athlete as well as the more technical boxer between them. Lewis had roughly similar power in his right but nowhere near the power in Wlad's left. Wlad's jab is better than anybody's, Lennox couldn't jab anywhere near Wlad's league. Wlad is faster with either hand and has sharper instincts. Wlad punches from a greater varaiety of angles, and can do things Lennox wouldn't even think of (like quadruple hook in a flash). Chins are roughly equal, Wlad probably has more heart. Wlad is bigger also, and Lennox couldn't handle someone his own size.

I think Lewis is better than Wlad. Although it would be pretty tough to call. Lewis is better then Wlad on the inside, he fought smaller guys all his career. Which is why he destroyed guys like Tyson and Tua. While Wlad would probably beat them, if Tyson or Tua got on the inside, it would mean trouble for Wlad. As for Lewis vs. Wlad, I really see it going either way.
