that can do everything punch box use legs and defend all a the same time..
only one is
mosely really..
maybe toney when he was young and could fight on his toes..
wheres the next duran or ray robinson thay could beat any style you threw at them
holyfield bad shoulder
jones is a unorthodox fighter lacks defense
forrest is hurt becuase of bad technique with his left
duran is gone
ray robinson is long gone..
fighter dont seem as well trained .. everbody is trying to be like cotto tyson roy jones or mayweather.. there all great fighter but there not the greaetest
A balanced fighter can be beaten though. Someone who is quick, with good power, good defense, good etc. etc. will be beaten by someone who is lightning quick with excellent defense, even if they can't knock somone out to save their life.
most definitely.
mayweather has no power, he is not a complete figther. Besides that though, he is. If he was willing to give up some speed he could be the ultimate boxer.

Anyone who can call Kessler a complete fighter really needs to lay off the sauce.
Rafael Marquez is pretty damn close,
Mr Mayweather is an obvious candidate
No dice.
Marquez - Defense?
Mayweather - Power?
Maybe Juan Manuel Marquez.

No hate on Floyd, but even his decent power in the 130's doesn't warrant his being called 'complete'. Other lightweights like Duran, MOsley, and Oscar have carried power to 154, 160, and 168, Duran clearly more so than those three. Plus even at lightweight Floyd didn't have outstanding power, he just had good power. He's outstanding in certain aspects and therefore extremely tough to beat, but a 'complete' fighter is a different thing, not better just different.
Kball, you can't call a two-punch fighter (Kessler) complete.
Jermain Taylor actually has a better chance at becoming a 'complete' fighter, though maybe he doesn't have the chin or the tenacity for that, I don't know.
Marquez excels at guys who fight on the outside or inside...agaisnt face first brawlers he rips them up and doesn't run like FLoyd..
u act like this man runs for the whole damn fight which isnt the case
it would be stupid to brawl with fighters that are naturally 20-30 pounds plus bigger than u
thats why he outboxes them
when he was at 130 and the lighter weight classes he could take the chance and brawl with guys if he chose to
i bet marquez wouldnt have the same offensive stategy if he was fighting at higher weight classes
not even top 20.
you cant be serious! you sound like an old school boxer hating on the present guys. how can u say he's not in the top 20? he's the best in this era.

You mean there isn't a perfect fighter out there?!?
Stop the fucking presses!
Thank you for your insight.

true, but forrest is nowhere near a complete fighter - I've only seen 3 or 4 of his fights but complete isn't a word I'd ever apply to him.
And Tszyu was a better fighter than Forrest, more skilled, more accurate, more power.
Yeah, Keyword Amateurs.
If there's any question mark it's his ability to take sustained flush punishment........yet he does have a decent chin. Fight wise he's the epitome of a complete fighter:
1. He has every punch.
2. He can brawl and fight coming forward.
3. He can box from the outside using lateral movement.
4. He has way more punching power than people give him credit for.
5. He's normally (outside of the shoulder injury era which played a huge factor in him struggling) in great shape to fight. He has little trouble whatsoever going the 12 rounds throwing a decent amount of punches.
Forrest would be a big threat to Mayweather IMO.
Forrest??
he can't compete with a Tszyu in the amateurs...something he can't or couldn't do

That is probably 100% true. Floyd is a very good technician, but I think he fights more like Roy Jones, relying on his speed first. The difference is that Floyd has enough technical skill that when that starts to diminish, he won't be done like Jones was.
Floyd is excellent at defense, speed and movement.
He is decent at ring generalship and techinical skills.
He really doesn't have that much power.
Quite a few holes for a "complete" fighter.
Obviously a fighter doesn't need to be complete to win though. Why change when it has been working for you?
Does anyone think Winky Wright would be better served if he had more power? I doubt it.
i might agree with that.. floyd is kind of an akward fighter..with very little power when hes not leaning foward... id love to see him fight pacqiou or mosley
Dont get me wrong, he is a great offensive fighter but he does not stay in the pocket and trade. He is great because he has great movement to slip in and out of range. I felt he fought like Roy Jones a little bit against Baldomir to try and fake to the fans that he was pleasing them. He would not throw any power shots so he would put his hands down and showboat a little bit.
He didn't fool the fans...
And as for Winky. He is a volume puncher who uses absolutely no leverage and legs into his punches. Him with power is unreasonable because he is an arm puncher. He wouldn't be nearly as active if he really SAT down on his punches if ya know what i mean.
Right, I'm just saying, if it's not broke, don't fix it!
Complete fighters are good when you find them, but it's not like that is the only way a fighter can be good (to the creator of the thread, not you Emp, I know that's not what you are saying).
