That may be, but despite his imperfections, he comes across as an affable chap and doesn't deserve the scorn leveled at him here. He's no worse than Lewis, Leonard, Jones or any of the other ex-fighters they drag to the broadcast mike. Even Manny Steward has his shortcomings...I couldn't agree more. So what if he's biased? Not only is it human to be biased, but color commentators need not be impartial, only the blow-by-blow guy (Lampley) need be balanced.
thoughts?
He destroys every fight he commentates for. God i hate that guy
:hail:
He is shocking, he really doesnt like mayweather either, you should hear his commentating on the n'dou fight, honestly you would of thought n'dou was winning every round, foreman was calling for shots that were never landing.
Big george, stick to grilling vegetables, leave the boxing talk to someone else.
Yeah, sure, Foreman is wrong sometimes when he is broadcasting. That is going to happen. Lennox Lewis is never wrong because he just stands there like a turnip and is completely unresponsive to everything.
Foreman is the only boxer-broadcaster who really seems to step forward and get involved in the broadcast. Even Roy Jones at times had to be coaxed into commentating by Lampley and Merchant. I think Foreman was really good. Overall he had very good technical insight and was a colourful talker.
Larry Merchant is the guy I would like to see them get rid of on that broadcast. He has obvious bitterness and disdain for the sport. Larry Merchant does not like any boxing match that isn't a slugfest. If a guy does not like boxing, then he should not be the BOXING broadcaster. He completely rips into and trashes fighters, referees, and coaches for no good reason at all.
I would also like to see Lennox Lewis out of there. He is obviously in the broadcast just because of his name. In his place I would like to see Antonio Tarver or Bernard Hopkins. Or Oscar De La Hoya if he would accept the job, just because De La Hoya means ratings even if he is just a broadcaster.
NASTY.
Kball has a good point with this thread and I agree with him about George, being a bit of a downer during fights. That may be, but despite his imperfections, he comes across as an affable chap and doesn't deserve the scorn leveled at him here. Foreman destroys fights with his commentary and you destroy the English language with grammatical errors. Foreman was hired for his insight on boxing as an ex-fighter, not a trained broadcaster. You post opinions as a boxing fan, not a trained sportswriter. You and George are even. Nobody's perfect.
With regard to your grammatical error, there's no such word (verb) as "commentate" and the correct phrasing is "comment on" (not for).
No dice.

Yeah, It was strange, they did that one and that was it.
I'd love to hear Ray Torres call a fight, just like he does his translations.
