Look who I voted for buddy. OOPS!! On your part.:tapedshut Post #12
well then whats your point all i said was tyson is not one of the best HW punchers of all time
by best puncher i assumed 'most powerful' so i voted shavers but if you actually mean best puncher i would say tyson. every punch he threw was perfect; fast powerful and compact.
Look Tyson is not the most powerful HW puncher fact. I don’t hate Tyson but I think the issue is more that your letting your obvious love for Tyson cloud your judgement

Ok,How many great fighters did Joe Louis Ko? How bout Frazier? Shavers? Cooney,Dempsey? Dont let your obvious hate for Tyson cloud what his punching power was.
Also to clear it up he did ko Holmes.;)

to me the topic asks who the greatest puncher was, which includes power, accuracy and speed. in that case I'll take Louis. Shavers is possibly the heaviest puncher, but that doesn't mean he's the best puncher.
I assume that this poll is about the quality of punch rather than the power of it?
If so it has to be Joe Louis.
Pure power then Shavers (Foreman and Frank Bruno would be in around a similar level power wise)You guys are reading way too much into a simple question and making it more complicated than I intended. So I hereby rephrase the question: Whose punch had the most jolting impact or effect upon his opponent? Period.
Distinctions such as accuracy, speed, quality, aesthetics, etc. are irrelevant and inmaterial to the only issue at hand, which is POWER!
Foreman's punches may have taken a year to reach their final destination, but when they landed, you knew that you were hit, if you were still conscious...

I say Foreman for the simple fact that he didnt have the speed nor did he get leverage or bend his legs.Nor did he turn his torso. All he did was arm punches and he knocked ppl out.Now imagine if he did all of those,DAMN.
Yup I voted Foreman too.

...but you've got to make polls like this visible so we can see the names of the experts who've voted for Tyson!I beg to differ... I find that voter turn-out is vastly increased when the privicy of the voting booth is maintained. ;)
Incidentally, I'm one of those "experts" who voted for Tyson... Feel free to take issue with me.
Ali and Holmes are not among the elite in the HW power punching ranks. They both had respectable KO records, but they were primerily "boxers" rather than sluggers.
i think he meant he believed ali and holmes's opinion....that shavers was more puncher than foreman and tyson....

I don't know if you can do it after the fact... but you've got to make polls like this visible so we can see the names of the experts who've voted for Tyson! :duh:
(full disclosure: I voted for Shavers)
