i think calderon is on his way but miles stones need to be met before he can be on lopez's level or surpass him.......
i'm big on the little big man calderon, it's a shame that he is in such a lighter weight class, the world would be all over him if he was a Welterweight or something to that nature but as far as skill he's got a lot and he's a smart fighter. but it's a time thing and a achievement or mile stone thing before he reaches the upper crust of being a great like lopez.
calderon could get there but he needs to do more amazing thing beating cazares and dominating the 105 is a start but he still need to proved to get there.
Pound 4 Pound And Prime4 Prime who was better Ricardo Lopez or Ivan Calderon?
I honestly believe that at this point history will favor Finito. I am Puerto Rican and I think Calderon has represented himself as a good boxer and now arguments can be made as one of the best in the lower divisions. But what Finito did in his time was just amazing. The power and abilities he possessed where unquestionable. Also, Finito did retire unblemished which is something unheard of these days. So I vote Finito as of Right Now but who knows only time will tell.
no way calderon at 32 can ever make a 50-0-1 record
they only way he could have a better resume than Lopez is if he goes up in weight after this fight and maybe even fight guys like DeLeon or Marquez :D
No question, still Ricardo Lopez. Ivan Calderon may some day be up there with him, but it will be hard to dethrone Finito. Calderon sadly doesnt carry much pop in his punches (hard to, when you barely weigh over 100 lbs!), and Finito could box or brawl you. Calderon may some day be on par with him, but I doubt that he'll go past him. But hell...ranking number 2 all time to Finito Lopez is nothing to be ashamed of!
I somewhat agree.
First let me say that Finito is my all-time favorite fighter. So, I may be a bit more biased than the average person on this issue.
Secondly, it's hard to compare because Finito had the total package. He could box, he could brawl, and he had power (something that Calderon severely lacks). What he did to Alex "El Nene" Sanchez should be illegal and his two fights with Alvarez were pure excitement (with the second one being one of the best fights you'll ever see below 147 pounds).
It's just too bad that Lopez-Carbajal was never made (at 108, of course) because I think that would've been fight of the century.
so he shot the division on the foot by not fighting Carbajal because then it would get more recongation about his success too
thi question is asked to early
