With all this talk about how floyd isnt great, and how he fights bums, and never has a hard fight i wanna know, since hes never fought a great fighter, a in their prime fighter in alot of peoples eyes on this site, i wanna know who right now is a GREAT fighter
all those names and then a couple more and i'll give him all the respect in the world, but if he loses, and comes back, then humbles himself, that's what makes legends
does that mean rocky isnt a legend cos he didnt lose and come back?
I think if Floyd cleans up against Hatton, Mosley and/or Cotto then beats Vernon Forrest, you have to look towards him hitting legend status pretty much as soon as he packs in.

wow that's retarded, i'm a huge chavez fan, sr and jr, but i don't think anyones that stupid to say he's a legend right now, that's like saying pbf is a legend right now.

The problem lies with what peoples perception of Greatness is.
If Chavez Jnr retired now, someone dickhead would call him great.

I know you aren't one of them, but there are a few people on here who literally think Floyd sucks... somehow.
That's why I argue with you, because I feel that you are worth the time to argue with. You use your brain and logic to argue instead of hateful bias.
I appreciate that dude, and you are the only Floyd fan on the other side who I can argue with without pure insanity ensuing :puppy_dog : ...
Floyd mayweather...way to as usual misinterpret what people have actually been talking about in other threads...I guess you have to be paranoid, given how abnormal and unnatural your floyd fetishes are.

so right now, he is a great fighter? at this present time?

You dont have to beat everyone down in your division to be a great. Jumping weightclasses and being successful at it could make you a great.
I thought you were someone who didn't think Floyd was very good... I can't remember.
Anyways, I guess the second part of your post definately makes Mayweather a great then. I mean, he is 38-0 and has won titles in 5 weight classes, including The Ring belt in 2 weight classes, 135 and 147 (although he should have had it at 130, but The Ring wasn't recognizing that weight class at the time for some reason).
Manny Pacquiao
Winky Wright
Bernard Hopkins
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
and Carlos Baldomir :ugh:
Joking about Baldomir.
I think Hopkins and Wright still are, even though they are old, because they have styles that don't rely on their bodies carrying them. They use their ring knowledge, or stellar defense to win fights for them. No matter how old you are, you can keep your hands up like Winky does, and I still haven't figured out how Bernard Hopkins gets everyone else to play his game in the ring, but I know it's probably not too physically taxing to do so.Agreed, they are all great, although many people might say they are not, but that is only because they are still fighting. Most of the time, when the fighter is retired people start giving him credit and considering him in the ATG's. I am 100% certain that al of these fighters would be considered HOF. There's no reason for them not to. And Hopkins truly amazes me. He's in his 40's and can still hang with the best out there. He is a freak of nature.
I don't know of anyone who cleaned up everything when they were still in their prime, maybe Ali, because he beat the biggest fighters in the division, but by the time he beat Frazier for a third time, he was on the down side of his career.

Ali did? Foreman did? alot of ppl did. You dont have to be in your prime to still win.

Then the answer to the question is no one, because no one can create a legacy with longevity and still be in their prime.

It takes consistency of winning and longevity to even be considered a great.

Pacquiao knocked out Barrera and Morales twice, and did some impressive shit to Marquez before getting some impressive shit done back to him, but I think that resume, along with his insane amount of power for his weight class probably would make him considered a great.

lol i wouldnt call pacman a great, i think he is a pure mans gatti on terms of how exciting he is,just like gatti he is always in good fights and because of this people say he is great, jst IMO obv cos alot of people think different Hopkins deffo, he goes up in weight n fights bigger guy n dom him :) great fighter and yea, someone would call Jr a great, when really hes jst a prospect
Yeah Manny's not great. YET.
so 2 wins and a draw and some power makes him a great? i stick with what i said man, yea it was huge that he beat Morales and Barrera, but we will need to see if he can beat him again and get a fight with Marquez
You set the bar pretty fuckin high for greatness. But I do agree that rematch with Marquez would be ideal to prove his greatness.
