Does anyone think the upcoming fight bewteen Hatton and Mayweather could be similar to the 1st Chavez Taylor fight. If Mayweather elects to try and fight it out with Hatton, and Hatton has prepared himself better to fight at welterweight this time, I can see it possibly being similar, going into the later rounds with Mayweather ahead and Hatton slowly getting to him and grinding him down. Wouldn't it be great if Hatton stopped him late. I'm not getting carried away with myself, as this would depend on a lot of if's, but it is one possibility, however personally I can't see Mayweather trying to outfight Hatton, I think he will completely outbox him and maybe try and stop him late on. To be honest I can't really see Hatton prevailing, he is up against the best boxer in the world, and fighting at the wrong weight, also I think cuts might come into play, but while he's in there, he always has a fighting chance. I'm just hoping and praying for a Hatton win in spectacular style. This is a very intruiging fight as there are so many possibilites, and none of us will have an idea of how it's going to go until the fight is well on its way. For boxings sake lets hope its a classic that we can all watch time and time again.
woah wtf have you even seen Chavez Taylor? theres no way that Mayweather is a volume puncher, and Hatton aint a surgeon in close quarters, hes more of a mauler.

Did u see Taylor-Chavez? Hard puncher or not if Floyd lands the shots Taylor landed on Chavez Hatton won't know what state he was in. Taylor was throwing bombs and was winning until late.
The styles aren't the same.
Hatton is not Roberto Duran lol. Floyd and Meldrick Taylor's styles are much different, and Meldrick(at 147) is faster than Floyd. And if Floyd lands the punches Meldrick landed on Chavez on Hatton, Hatton would need plastic surgery or some kind of facelift.

I never said he was the same class as chavez/duran. I said this fight has the possibility of being similar to chavez - taylor. Hatton has beat some quality fighters, Kostya being one of them. If he does go on to beat Mayweather then I think he will go down as an all-time great, however even if he loses that will not make him a bad fighter, DLH lost to mayweather and he is still considered a great. Hatton is not there yet, but he is a very good fighter that has won 2 world titles in 2 divisions, and never ducked anyone.
Ricky is a an undefeated champion at his peak. This is his time to do great things. But let's wait until he actually beats a top guy.
Come on mate, Tszyu and Castillo are just as big names as many of the other highly credible guys with undefeated records out there. Yes defeated fighters have fought better opponents, but they've generally lost to them.
i've never seen floyd tire
not a diss or anything just a question
does ricky hold or clinch alot to conserve energy for the later rounds?
Floyd is a peak of physical perfection. He's a gym-rat who is in fighting shape at all times. Hatton is just much fitter and with much better stamina than most other boxers. Most guys Floyd fights tire towards and he coasts a bit without having to work too hard to win those vital final few rounds. Its unlikely he'll be able to do so with Hatton.
I wouldnt say that Hatton necessarily clinches or holds a lot to conserve energy, its normally a stiffling tactic to neutralise the threat from his opponent and to wear them down. He often uses it to stay out of trouble and not take risks after he has the fight won. Floyd does a similar thing with 'running' around a lot, he has the reactions and the footspeed to do this, Hatton doesnt.
You guys seem to forget that Taylor was easily beating Chavez all night long and it was the Ref who saved it for Chavez in the last 2 seconds of the fight. Had Richard Steele not been such an idiot, Chavez would've lost that fight.
2 times in 40+ fights (one of them because he took a few too many punches and had bad preparation. The other because he was told to do so and had a cold) does not a pattern make.

dont know if ricky will be grinding floyd down in the later rounds becuz ricky himself fades in the later rounds..

I see it kind of like Duran vs Leonard
hatton and mayweather do not have the styles to even be compared to as leonard and duran
they're different fighters so lets get that out the window
but as far as it leaving a huge mark on boxing i caa agree with u that it may have huge impact and be remembered as a classic fight as such was duran vs leonard

i agree with you as far as it being similiar to the mayweather - chavez fight. im glad someone else besides myself has seen that great fight on this board.. i dont know if ricky will be grinding floyd down in the later rounds becuz ricky himself fades in the later rounds.. but i do expect ricky to put up a good fight and i believe this fight is going to be a exciting, classic fight.. hopefully it is.. in boxing anything can happen.. but i expect floyd to win by late stoppage
