Lewis vs Bowe IMO is one of the all time matches that needed to happen but didn't. Time for these boys to strap 'em on one last time and go at it before they turn old and grey.
Who's with me on this fight should've happened?
I'm not so sure. I think phsychologically he felt he'd get owned bacause of the amature days but if he was mentally confident I think he could have KO'd Lewis. He sure as hell had the power to. If Rahman could catch Lennox obviously Bowe could with his sick hand speed.
sick hand speed?? bowe had average hand speed but did put his punches together very well and also mixed them up from head to body. lewis had the edge in hand speed and punching power. he likely would have repeated what he did in the olympics. bowe and newman obviously didnt have much confidence in beating him. anyway,,,,it would have been a good interesting fight while it lasted
Lewis would have had Bowe's number, seriously. Lewis does everything better then Bowe.

Bowe was due to fight ray mercer but he lost to jesse ferguson the fight before so ferguson got his shot and ruddock had just lost in two rounds to lewis and didnt fight again for 2 years. so bowe did not dodge them.
No, Bowe vacated his belt so he would not have to get in the ring with Lennox Lewis.
He was flat out terrified.
Probably would have happened anyway back in the day (the 5 round or less stoppage). I actually was never really all that impressed by Riddick Bowe, at least what I have seen of him in the past. Yeah, he was good, but I think Lennox Lewis is just better by a wide margin.
Well Boew beat Holy twice, and Holyfield v Lewis was competitive twice, I severly doubt Lewis would have blown Bowe out of the water or anything close to that.
Bowe had the size, stregnth and chin to give Lewis serious problems, but he never wanted to man up and take the fight.
I do wonder why Bowe was so intent on ducking Lewis. I understand he got dominated in the ams, but the pros is a different story.
becuase he cant beat guys near his size that can punch. he avoided all of the bigger punchers of that era. ruddock,,,lewis and even morrison and mercer although I think he would have beat the latter 2 guys
Do you have any idea how much of non fit for boxing state Riddick Bowe is in? I saw one of his come back bouts against a designated oponenent to lose from Idaho and he was getting backed up against the ropes and pummelled by the guy.
Lewis vs Bowe
Foreman vs Holmes
Jones vs McClellan
these are fights that will forever be wish upon by boxing fans that should have happen back in their days, think about how many threads involving these match ups being debated so many times, I think we could just have a fantasy computer fight (similar to ali-marciano make believe fight) so we could come up with the outcome on who will win.
I honestly don't think anything can draw Lewis out of retirement at this point, so... don't hold your breathe waiting for this fight.
no he's staying smart!
how many boxers have made a comeback only to lose and look terrible
Idk, even in the Holyfield fights, which were Riddick Bowe's best moments, he just didn't look like he had the technique that was necessary to fight at the top level. He relied on his size advantage and power more than he should have. But I don't know much about Lennox back then, so I guess I'm not in much of a position to make a claim like this.
his trained slacked for the holyfield fights...he was having arguements with his trainer...and doing things half assed..or so i read in his autobiography.
I think Lewis would probably have won...BUT...Bowes problem was...underneath all the bravado..he was very insecure, and didnt have a huge amount of confidence,if he had the confidence to go into a ring thinking he could beat Lewis....there is a prettygood chance he could beat hinm..however despite all his victorys, and just his one defeat, and being world champ...he didnt have alot of confidence.
I think if bowe gets back in the game, wins a few fights,i think in a year or so..it would be a fair fight..if lewis got himself fit...lewis has been out for a few years, give Bowe 3/4 fights to get back nito the grove, lewis take one fight before bowe...and then let them go at it. They hate each other from what i understand...i think Lewis would be more inclined to come out of retirement for Bowe, then Klitz.
One thing i do know..wherever it is held...it will draw abig crowd, no matter how people cuss them for being old n past it...they will put asses in seats.
i think if bowe had got in with him straight after winning the title he would have had a good chance, lewis was not as good back then and i could see bowe at least having a very good chance. it would have made a great trilogy with bowe winning the first fight imo and lewis winning the two fights after that. but now its completely pointless.

back in the day yes but now no way bowe is to far gone and lewis would stop him in 5 rounds or less

Lennox would have outclassed him. I think that the Olympics showed Lewis' potential dominance even though you try to not put too much faith in the amateurs. THat said, given that Bowe pretty much avoided him at all costs, you can tell he knew that Lennox had his number. Would have been entertaining though

Way too late, amigo, way too late.
All this event would need is Howard Finkel introducing the contestants "at a combined age of 81 years old and a combined weight of nearly 600 pounds."
