Mike Tyson in the 80's beat everyone in the heavyweight divison and was undisputed champion. If Tyson faced holyfield in the 80's he would of beat him but would of made a great match, he would of destroyed Riddick Bowe by a big knockout. Tyson would of also killed Lennox Lewis in the 80's by knockout and nobody would of been speaking about him today. But the reason they didnt want to fight him was because they were scared of Iron Mike. His power was amazing head and feet work were superb and had a great chin. What do u think?
Evander never fought prime Mike Tyson though. The Tyson of 1996 even when he was winning was not nearly as good as 1986 thru 1988 Tyson.
Mike lost a lot of his speed and ability to counterpunch off a miss with that 4 year layoff from going to prison.
Mike used to have the ability to make you miss, then immedietely come back with a countershot. And he could put together combinations
You are correct, Tyson 86/89 was 100% better than the 96/97 version, it was his foot speed & defence which made the difference, he was extremely difficult to hit during the mid to late 80's, he would roll with the punches as well, Holyfield may have always had his number though i suspect the fight would have been a lot more competitive & may well have gone the distance.
Yeah whatever Tyson would have killed Lewis in the 80's ko ko ko! The only good thing about Lewis is getting ko'd by mccall and rahman! If Tyson fought holyfield in 91 he would of killed the guy!
No. He wouldn't beat Evander. He wouldn't beat Lewis. And I'd only have it as even money versus Bowe and Tua. The current crop of Heavyweights? Sure, he'd eat them alive, but that isn't saying much since they aren't much.
Tyson KoolAid drinkers please read this very carefully: Mike Tyson is NOT, I repeat NOT the greatest Heavyweight ever. Not even close.

AMEN! NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Yeah and Tyson never fought a prime holyfield.

You sound like one of those Tyson fans who thought he could walk on water.
I'll play that crazy " connect the dots " game, which doesn't work real well..
Tyson was beaten by Douglas, who most of the heavies today would beat...so NO, is the answer.
Prime Tyson is a force.
I like Holyfield's chances better than those of Lewis.. There is a chance any version of Evander could win. But he was still coming up in weight during those peak Tyson years so Mike still has the edge. Lewis would have been knocked out early like the others at that time.
Trying to bag on the chances of young and focused Mike Tyson is estupido.
If Albert Einstein had a time machine he could have teleported to the year 3000 and took a Tyson of the 80's and fitted him with super robotic boxing skills and Tyson would have beat everyone that has ever lived, and beaten the dinosaurs and blah, blah, blah
LOL This is a joke right? There is never one time in his life that Tyson would have beat Lennox Lewis or Evander Holyfield! NEVER! Holy kicked his ass TWICE! And Holyfield was older than Tyson! He could have fought Lewis 10 times and the results would have been the same every time. With Mike on his back looking for that right hand that about decapitated him.
A 1988 Tyson could have beaten Holyfield. Had they fought before he went to prison. The Mike who didn't know any better and KO'd Holmes & Spinks... that's someone I'd give a shot at any fighter in history

Lewis and Holyfield would have been his hardest fights but I think he would have won them. His actual fights with those two werent an accurate reflection of a prime-for-prime showdown, although many armchair experts like to think it was.
Ok how old was tyson when he fought Holyfield the 1st time? Im sure he was 29, ok tyson was not as good as he was when 19 but either was Holyfield! Holyfield would have beaten Tyson whenever they fought. It was not holyfields fault tyson got banged up for rape.
Now it aint fair to put lewis in a ring in 1988/89 with tyson as he was still just starting out in the pro's. but in saying that if tony tucker and razor ruddock went the distance obviously lewis could handle it aswell. To answer the question fairly you nedd to put a prime lewis in the ring with Tyson, and Lewis would wipe him out just like he done anywayz.
