I'd like a crew of Jim Lampley (HBO CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING), Al Bernstein (SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING), and Steve Farhood (SHOBOX) if I could choose my announcers. With Larry Merchant (HBO CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING) doing postfight interviews and checking in periodically during the fight like James Toney does on FSN...
I think the HBO crew kind of adds to the excitement, but as far as not being bias, and telling you whats going on in the fight Showtime is better.
Lamps is made for calling fights like the one we saw last night.
I agree with DiegoFuego on this one, Lampley would have been riding one of the fighter's nuts all night long, probably Marquez's and would have been crying about the stoppage worse than Gary Shaw. I've actually seen so many good fights on showtime (Corrales-Castillo 1&2, Vazquez-Marquez 1&2, Brewster-Lyakh, Corrales-Freitas, Mormeck-Bell etc.) that I do associate them with very good, quality fights and they have very good production. I'd take showtime in most cases.

the Showtime guys are way more knowledgeable and that includes Manny Steward, who always says, "I knew the fight would go this way" although he never says so beforehand lol. Al Bernstein is the smartest man in the sport by far.
HBO team is good. So is the Showtime crew, but I'd go with the HBO crew. Aside from the fact that HBO has the better fights, the HBO team has a great chemistry. (Speaking of Lampley/Stewart/Merchant) Lampley gives you the clean calls, play-by-play and starts the conversations. Though sometimes, biased. Stewart gives you the fighters perpective (was an AM fighter) and the trainers idea. (As he's a great trainer).. Merchant is the old-timer, looking for a good fight. And calls the fight like he sees it. Good team, overall.
HBO crew, especially Merchant. Steward, as a trainer, knows what he sees in the ring.
Is Lampley still with HBO. Not really a fan, but i rather see him than Kellerman.
The majority of the time Hbo gets the better fights. Though showtime does have it's gems at time like Vasquez vs Marquez. And I love the hbo broadcasters, lampley is a good broadcaster. Biased at times, but that usually means he really likes the job he has. He is a boxing fan and a great broadcaster.
showtime those guys moe levelheaded and calm, kind of just lets the fight happen and says a few.
