if Mayweather beats Hatton, Cotto and Mosley (as long as they aren't shot) I would definatly put him in my top 10 ATG, but top 5 is really pushing it imo.

I read an interview yesterday where FMS said that FMJ can beat anybody at 147/154, and perhaps even Jermain Taylor. He mentioned JT half-jokingly, but then reminded us about the Spinks fight. As I think about it, PBF giving Taylor some problems is not an implausible scenario. Taylor couldn't do much with Ouma or Spinks. And Ouma is there to hit all night. Yeah i dont rate Taylor. I think he will lose soon enough. I only mentioned him because he's got the belt. Fighting Hopkins at a catch weight would be good. Then again i dont think Floyd could beat Mosley so its pointless looking that far into the future. Shane is faster than Floyd and has more power. For Floyd to be considered the G.O.A.T he needs to beat Hatton, Cotto and Mosley and then move up and take the middleweight title or beat Hopkins/Winky or Taylor. If he did this i wouldn't argue. Yeah but athletes/boxers nowadays are so much more advanced in terms of getting physically in great shape - i'd like to think that nowadays boxers are of much higher quality than in the older days. With the exception of the current heavyweight division though. Also, there are rules to follow, tv networks setting dates and stuff and it's dangerous to allow fighters have so many fights. yeah no joke. fighting hundreds of times means absolutely nothing other than they needed the money. don't you think Mayweather is more than capable of fighting twice a month since he is the gym 365 days a year? thing is, he doesn't have to nowadays.

It's going to be ahrd for him to rub shoulders in that sort of company. Let's be honest, the guys that are now widely considered the greatest were fighting three times a month, had hundreds of fights, and fought everyone. It was expected in the 40s, 50s and 60s that you had 40-50 fights before you even got a title shot. Now you're expected to retire before you get there.

If eh retires undefeated at the end of the year, he's definitely top 5 all time. If he keeps going with a win over Mosley/Cotto winner and maybe a few more welters, he can only go up. If he wins a middleweight title (especially if he beats the middleweight champion), he's without a doubt top 3 all time behind only Robinson and Ali.
