EMANUEL AGUSTUS! Who's one of my all time favorites.
Sorokin-Augustus on August 31!
By Alexey Sukachev
World-rated junior welterweight Sergey Sorokin will face the toughest test in his career on August 31 in the Siberian city of Yugorsk, Russia, as he takes on American fighter/entertainer Emmanuel Augustus. The fight for Sorokin’s WBO Asia Pacific belt is scheduled to be the headliner of the fourth stage of the International Kostya Tszyu Cup. "I’m going to gather all the belts, Kostya once possessed," says WBO #6 Sorokin (25-1-1, 18 KOs), who is coming off the 10-bout undefeated streak to defend his title for the third time. He hasn’t lost since summer 2004 when he was handed his only loss as a pro against Juan Urango. Augustus (35-28-6 with 18 KOs) is still the die-hard opponent for any fighter around 140 lbs. despite his far-less-than-stellar record. Always fun to watch, he is an excellent choice for Russian fans, who will get a chance to see one of the most legendary journeymen alive. The show is promoted by Alexey Plotnikov with the help of Kostya Tszyu team.
I saw the Burton fight- he looked great. But that makes it even more confusing as to why he looked so bad against Kid Diamond.
I mean, you pretty much hit the nail on the head- He was getting NAILED with jabs, all night. Now, we both know that even when he loses, Augustus is the slickest mofo around. That night, he couldn't get defense OR offense going.
But, hey. I hope you're right. Maybe he didn't prepare properly for that fight.
What i think happened was his trainer or something told him that he (augustus) is starting to get old and if he wants to be champ again he has to start being more serious in the ring u know?
Cause he COMPLETELY stopped doing his moves and everything and wasnt even trying to be elusive it seemed.
And when he started to dance, he was already exhausted. so idk, we'll see on August 31st. Hopefully its on TV or something
Mayweather didn't jab. That was just an all out slug fest.
I havent seen the fight in a while, but i was just watchin highlights on youtube and in the early rounds whenever Mayweather threw his jab, Augustus was able to slip it. Thats probably why Mayweather may have abandoned it later on.
I dont think he was shot. He just kept getting nailed by that jab and he couldnt get past it.
He used to avoid a good jab, like he was able to get past Mayweathers in there fight. He's clearly past his best, but if u saw his fight with Stoner and his second fight with Burton, he clearly has fight left in him.

I'm also a huge fan of Augustus. But I was pretty damn heartbroken when I saw him on Versus last time, against Raiymkulov. Sure, he loses alot- but I'd never seen him look so shot before...

have read about a documentary about augustus. anyone no anything?
Yea its about his quest to become a champion again. And i think this is for some belt or something, so maybe they'll start putting it together soon.
but documentaries take a long ass time to make. Years of Footage have to taken.
I saw a bit of it on youtube a while ago, and i cant find it anymore. It was just a bit of his fight with Stoner on the undercard of Ouma-Taylor, and then augustus just talked about the fight and his career. And it showed Augustus talking to Stoner after the fight and giving him props and showing off his class and everything
It was pretty cool. I cant wait to see that if it comes off.
