Surprised? I was pretty surprised, even though im picking him to win the fight.
Looks like even the odds makers got caught up in Pavliks dominating win over Miranda.
But, unlike with most undefeated fighters and VERY COMMON with Jermain Taylor, there isnt a single disputed decision on Pavliks record, with only 3 fights going to the cards.
This fight should be a classic, i can't wait.
+120 for Taylor
-150 for Pavlik
SPINKS WINKY AND HOPKINS?
Anyone notice ANYTHING about those three fighters?
Anything?
Say...like...for instance they are all top tier guys?
Or....none of them like to actually fight?
or....they ALL THREE GOT BEAT BY TAYLOR?
Pavlik is twice as fun to watch as Taylor.
But is half the fighter.
Miranda did nothing to get Pavlik ready for Taylor. Nothing.
It should be a great fight. But these two arent on the same level by any serious stretch.
Obviously the KO is there for Pavs....but if he doesnt get it early...he's catching a whoopin.
I hate how people think that Pavlik is overrated just cause he's a brawler. Its really startin to hit a nerve.
Some of the best fighters of all time were brawlers. Pavlik is as skilled a brawler as anybody 147 and above IMO. The lower weight classes have some amazing brawlers, like Barrera and Marquez and Vazquez, all of which can brawl and do it with great skill.
Anyway, Pavlik probably is the better fighter, because hes bigger and stronger, and holds nearly every advantage over taylor other then speed.
And why does everyone think that (A) Pavlik can score the early KO, and (B) If he doesnt score that early KO hes done for?
Pavlik throws over 90 punches a round sometimes, and he was just as strong in the first round of his fight with Miranda, as he was in the 7th. Pavlik doesnt fade.
If he's beating down on Taylor early but doesnt score the KO, it will ONLY get worse from Taylor. But i dont think anybody woopes anybody early. It should be an even give and take for the first 4 rounds or so.
oh, and SPINKS, WRIGHT, and HOPKINS all beat TAYLOR in my opinion. And its LAUGHABLE that he was able to get every one of those decisions in his favor!
Oh, and another think all those names have in common, THEY ALL ROCKED TAYLOR pretty badly for the feather fisted punches SPINKS and WRIGHT are. Pavlik hits harder and throws a million more punches a round!
On paper, to me at least, it looks like Pavlik wins this fight easily. But i think itll be a very close fight until Taylor ultimately gets knocked out late in the fight

I'm gonna throw down a lot of cash if Taylor is the underdog at fight time, as much as I dislike Taylor, Pavlik is not that good and I think I see a Miranda II coming.
What has Taylor done in the ring lately to lead you to beileve he will dominate Pavlik? Because I sure haven't seen it. This is the same guy who was afraid to mix it up with Cory Spinks. No in doubt that Taylor can win becuase if it goes 12 rounds he'll get the decision.
I like Kelly Pavlik, and anyone with eyes shouldve forseen him beating down Miranda, who is just a 160 version of Mayorga, but I'm pretty sure Taylor is not only going to beat him down, but do it pretty easily.
It's sad when a fighter who has fought to a draw with Winky, put on 2 EXCELLENT performances against Bernard Hopkins (whether or not you agree with the decision(s), you can't argue that no one has looked that good against B-hop since his last loss, to Jones. That in itself is impressive.), and beat down Kassim Ouma, all fighters who are proven champions, gets put as the underdog to a good but really untested fighter. I'll give him Bronco McKart, and he looked good on Zertuche and Miranda, but still, thats pretty disrespectful.
No comment on the Spinks fight though :tapedshut :tapedshut
Where are you getting this shit about Taylor being rocked by Spinks and Winky? Rocked, stunned, and buzzed are all different things, and none of them are the same as hurt. He may have gotten stunned by Winky or buzzed by Cory, but hurt? Please.
I'm throwing money down on Taylor for sure now
taylor will simply outbox and outslug pavlik. miranda is a strong puncher but thats all just about. he doesnt have half the chin of taylor and taylor's power is becoming very underrated. You also cant see that straight right of his very good. All you pavlik lovers will be extremely surprised after the fight.
A) Edison miranda has TWICE the chin Taylor has. Taylors been Rocked by the feather fisted likes of Winky Wright and Corey Spinks.
B) Taylors power is becoming OVERRATED. He can punch pretty good, im not saying that, but what ive heard some poeple say is rediculous.
Pavlik's best chance is to push him back into the corners with his jab, like Winky did, and then go to school on him with combinations. However, Winky's defense allowed him to not be counter punched by Jermain. Pavlik is gonna take a lot of hard counters in this fight. I could see him being hurt badly in the late rounds. If Jermain's chin holds up through the early rounds, he should win this IMO.
Jermain Taylor by UD. Hopefully I will have enough points to throw a bet down by September 29.
I agree he went easy on spinks because of the respect they had for each other Kelly from what i saw in the Miranda fight was all offense and barely no defense he got tagged as well by Miranda and Jermain was not the undisputed champ for no reason regardless of all his controversial decisions.Jermain could and will come out slugging hes gonna fight Pavliks fight.Should be an entertaining fight and best of all its free
that just doesnt happen. If you sign to fight, then you sign to fight.
Mosley and De La Hoya were friends before they fought, and they knew eachother for almost 20 years!
yet when the stepped into the ring together, it was a war.
And Taylor isnt good enough to pick apart anybody. He may win a decision BUT THAT IS IT!!!!!!
Spinks, Wright, Hopkins, ALL HURT TAYLOR pretty badly. Pavlik hits a million times harder.
TAYLOR WILL BE HURT BADLY IN THIS FIGHT! I think he has the grit and heart to weather it. So many people think he lacks heart, but thats not true. He just hasnt had the chance to prove it yet.
I think these two guys were MADE for eachother, and they'll bring out the best in eachother.
This is a product of 4 suspect fights in a row. You know if the odds are in the champs favor...being a dog...then that can only mean every moe, larry, and curly know the jurys out on Taylor.
I take Pavlik but alot of friends think JT. Retired pros'.
He robbed Cory but, I'm positive he's gonna beat this bar brawler. He'll take him apart real easy.

Taylor has something coming to him eventually, there's no doubt about that. But he's not as bad as we've all insisted (though also not half as good as his record). I've been rewatching his fights with pavlik in mind, and I might lean slightly in his (Taylor's) favor. We all expected too much of Taylor, but he's come out without losing before and he might again this time. Either an early-ish Pavlik KO or a Taylor decision. Taylor is a much trickier customer than is Miranda, Pavlik is going to have to prepare for different things than last time.

.....I'm going to be in Dallas with Drewcyfer to see the Cowboys play on that Sunday and now we have that fight on the Saturday night before. Good shit!!!
From day one I've said that Pavlik will simply outwork Taylor to an Md.
As for the topic, I'm not actually that suprised. Pavlik has all the momentum coming in, and people love to bet on the powerpunching warrior.
