Is juan lazcano the fight that Vivian Harris almost lost? There was a close fight which Harris almost lost against a pressure fighter, and Harris try to brawl with the guy too many times and almost got ko'd because of Harris's stupidity. Harris is one of those dumb boxers who could be great but chooses to be stupid in the ring. I remember that fight, and Harris could have kicked the guys ass if Harris had used his distance, but instead harris wanted to fight this guy close up and almost got ko'd because of it.
Don't people on here usually complain about smart fighters? I thought this is what brainless boxing fans liked (brainless, come-forward robot boxers)?
After Ray Oliveira beat Harris, Vivian was exposed. That was last shine for Ray, who was on his way to Shot City. I was in the gym and sparred w/him before that fight. Libby had his right arm tied so Sucra could work his jab in sparring. Did 2 rounds w/everyone in the gym.
I followed Ray since the Am's and all his pro stuff. It looked like a glimpse of the old Sucra, but not quite. Ray was a very good fighter but had personal issues that kept him from truly showing his full potential.
Point of all this is: if a old Sucra could beat Harris, then thats bad for Vivian. I think his chin didnt pan out to the rest of his skills. The dude is super super talented. Just a few bad errors in his game.
Vivian Harris would make an excellent Welterweight, but instead he kills himself to make 140 and can only fight in intervals. The problem is, he can't really defend himself in those spots when he's exhausted and takes punches as a result. Vivian is a world class fighter, but he's not really open to suggestion at times and suffers a bit of Antonio Tarver Syndrome. You know what that is...
why are you comparing Tarver with Harris. Tarver is the man who cameback from many loses with a win.
And when did Junior Witter gain the power to make ANYONE leave on anything close to a stretcher?
Junior has without doubt a big punch, his opponents tend to feel his power and then not fancy leaving thamselves open again. I seriously feel Junior is one of the most under rated fighters ever.
I admit he is not exiting, but is very smart and very difficult to hit.

no there are to many good/great WW for Harris to have a chance of climbing to the top period

i lost respect for him when carlos maussa KO'd him with an awkward chest punch
witter by UD, then if hatton does lose to floyd they should fight each other.
the answer to your question is no... mayweather hand picked him as an oppnent and he refused.... not only was he considered easy pickings... he was to scared to step up..... he also lost to the sloppiest fighter i've seen on hbo/showtime Mussa... E. Steward stated that he was afraid to lose his ranking so he refuses to move up in weight (lack of confidence), due to lack of skillz importance to the big picture... writter could cause all types of problems for Hatton though
If people seen the Maussa fight they would know what really happen instead of judging to conclusion about Harris. but Harris shoot himself in the foot in that fight.
It was basicly Harris was pissed that other 140 pounders getting the big money and he doesnt so he came in the ring wanted to make a statment. His money punch is the straight right and that wasnt effective E.Steward told him to go inside and hit Maussa with a short left hook because he was like a rubber man. and he never listened. He got gases out but and Maussa knock him down. when he was down Maussa went for the rabbit punch.
So Maussa weakness was short left hook which is why fighters like Hatton and Cotto looked impressive against him.
Vivian Harris is an underated fighter but has his faults. His stamina is suspect at times too & I think that has more to do with him outgrowing the Jr. Welter division. I've heard reports of it being really taxing for him to make weight that takes away from his legs like it did to Cotto. He sometimes doesn't listen to his corner & that cost him in the Maussa fight. But Harris has fast hands, a very good jab, & a big right hand. He also has very good footwork & can counter punch well. He could win most fights on his jab alone but he likes to fight which makes him exciting. His fight with Witter is too close for me to call because both have the power to hurt the other & matchup pretty evenly.
And when did Junior Witter gain the power to make ANYONE leave on anything close to a stretcher?
Maussa wasn't exactly a monster puncher either mate. The wind would have blown Vivian over that night.
Watch Harris fight Maussa and then tell me Viv will make the 10th round.
He was all punched out in 3 rounds. One of the worst prepared fighters I'd ever seen fighting for a world title. That's why he got knocked out, he nearly collapsed from exhaustion. He will need to make sure he is in much better shape this time or he'll leave the ring on a stretcher.

Im picked HARRIS via 10th round KO

If Witter takes on Harris, and beats him.. That could be folllowed by a fight (and win, for his sake) against Malignaggi, gives Witter a valid argument for deserving a fight with Hatton. And in his home country. If Hatton loses to Mayweather, he has a way of getting even more popular if he came back to a fight like that (It's a fight he can win, too) If he wins, it gives Witter more time to build himself up, and set up an even BIGGER event over there. Either way, this is a fight that can be made, but if the time is taken, can be made, BIGGER.
He is a good fighter with the potential to be great. He has great power and if his power hand connects its good night for most fighters. Good size for a welterweight too. He lacks the consistency and focus that is looked for in top tier fighters. His defense has holes, but his reach affords him the opportunity to gamble.
If he can learn to focus for 12 rounds night in and night out, he could really be an excellent fighter.

Highlights I know, and not any of his tougher moments on here, but he looks like a guy that can hit pretty hatrd and can fight going backwards as well as forwards. It will be a dull fight v Witter, of that I'm sure.

i just find it funny that hatton allways called out floyd and said he was ducking him but you could say exactly the same thing about hatton on witter, i hope though that if hatton does get beat by floyd that he will fight witter.
but be fair to ricky he brings the kinda name that a fighter looking for abig legacy needs on hes resume and he brings money to the table.
witter fights in front of 2000 people when fighting for hes world title say no more
