Some of the vitirol spat out on here about Hatton is pathetic but people are entitled to their opinion.
As for the outcome of the fight, I genuinely believe it's too close to call. But what does hatton have to do to prove all the haters wrong? A lot of people have called Hatton a bum or a c class fighter, theres no doubt in my mind he'll prove these people wrong even if he gets beat but whats he got to do to earn respect?
Hatton is slow, if you think he's fast you're hilarious, I don't care how many posts you have. Put Hatton up vs any fighter with speed and he won't look fast, even Collazo made him look slow.
Hatton is not slow, and he has more boxing skill than Gatti and Baldy combined. I think Floyd will beat him with relative ease, but don't get carried away, the boy has done an outstanding job with his career.
Interesting take on reality you have there. Hatton isn't fast? Collazo is known for being a fairly fast and fairly slick boxer with a long reach. Hatton isn't the fastest but he's still fairly fast, especially on his feet.
Williams got away with an inordinate amount of holding. Hopkins got away with an inordinate amount of holding. John Ruiz got away with an inrodinate amount of holding. Why is this? Because holding is only considered a crime when Ricky Hatton does it it seems. Additionally the Tszyu fght had one US judge, one spaniard and one Frenchman with an English referee. He's done alright in his US fights as well with American judges and American referees. The only people who seem to think that Hatton's tactics are unacceptable in the US are his detractors.
And boxing history is relevant. You're claiming that in America there's never any rough-housing, never any holding, never any bum decisions, but this is not reflected by reality.
It's also worthy of note that though many people consider that Hatton will be an "easy" opponent for Mayweather, nobody who is anybody in the fight game seems to see it that way, especially not Mayweather himself.
I'm asking you two direct questions, Squeal.
1) would mayweather have beaten Zoo?
2) Would hatton have beaten ODLH?
Mayweather may or may not have beaten Chester Zoo. He wouldn't have stopped Chester Zoo though. He would possibly have been slight favourite, not massive underdog.
Hatton may or may not have beaten De La Hoya. He could beat him through outworkinghim in the latter half of the fight, but he wouldn't be the favourite like Mayweather was.
lol why is this fight even being debated?? Would Mayweather of struggled vs Collazo?? Mayweather is going to blow through Hatton with ease. Hatton is buying into the hype that pressure and dirty dactics will beat PBF. Guess what?? Hatton is slow, unpolished, and no where near the skilled technician that PBF is. I don't even like PBF, but he will mop the floor with Hatton without even breaking a sweat. Quit talking about Kostya, he was old and over the hill. If the fight was in the U.S. Hatton would've been dq'd because that fight was a wwe wrestling match, not boxing. Hatton=overrated Floyd=#1 P4P
There's a fair bit of nonsense in your post here. Let's tackle them:
Mayweather would not have struggled against Collazo, no. Mayweather wouldn't have taken such a risky fight at such short notice, so it would never have happened. Hatton struggled but still won against a guy who held all the aces. Hatton's worst ever performance was a unanimous decision victory, so he's doing alright.
Hatton isn't slow and unpolished. Sure, compare him to a fighter as fast and as polished as Mayweather and of course he'll look tarnished. Fact is that Hatton is a world class boxer and an elite fighter.
Finally I'm tired of hearing that Hatton would have been disqualified for rough-housing Tszyu had the fight been in the US. There really is nothing in the history of boxing that would suggest that roughness and holding happens or is permitted more in Britain than in the US. Ken Buchanan was in New York when he got his nuts busted by Roberto Duran. Joe Louis destroyed Max Schmeling with a kidney punch, an illegal blow in Europe but not in the US. Perhaps the dirtiest fighter in the history of the sport, Harry Greb, was American and fought almost every single one of his fights in the US, and there have been two recent high profile bouts in the US and featuring US boxers which have involved an inordinate amount of holding, Williams - Margarito and Hopkins - Wright.
The reason the fight is being debated is that it is debatable. Floyd is not superhuman. He's very very good but he's not unbeatable. Noone is.
The difference for me between Hatton's Tszyu win and Mayweather's Delahoya win is the size differential. Delahoya is a 154 guy. The other three are 140 guys.
So, the question I ask myself is: could Mayweather have beaten Tszyu? and could Hatton have beaten Delahoya?
Mayweather couldn't have beaten Tszyu the way Hatton did. You're moving the goalposts to bring size into it. Mayweather was favourite to beat De La Hoya. Hatton was favoured to get his block knocked off by Tszyu.
It could well be said that Hatton's win over Tszyu was the best win by anyone in 2005, as Tszyu was pretty well recognised at the time as one of the best fighters in the world. Personally I respect Mayweather for his close victory over De La Hoya, it was a brave fight to take. But I also think it important to show the same respect for Hatton's signature win over Kostya.
No disagreement.
Sorry Welter, but Oscar De La Hoya is still one of the best fighters in the world. Floyd's win over Oscar is the best win by anyone this year.

He has to make it competitive. He doesn't have to win 4 rounds or anything, but he has to make Mayweather work for it. He has to do better than Chavez and Carlos Hernandez to get my respect; otherwise, he's just another European fighter with an inflated record.
fighters like Mayweather like to take rests and admire their own work Hatton needs to stop him doing that if he does then he has a real chance of stopping him, hope so anyway Mayweather is one of those upity people who had nothing as child and now has a huge chip on his shoulder.

even if Hatton KOs Floyd the septic tanks will not take to him because he's English, you know the country that owed America and deap down they really want to return to that as they have no identity of their own, so no matter how many fighters Ricky blows away he will still be hated becasue his haters really want to be like him English the yanks have a real little mans complex, they are mostly English anyway if the trace back or or at least they were sold there.
nobody agree

Hatton already has my respect (I'm American).. But in order to earn my respect on fight night. Just try to execute his game plan as smart as he can. Which should be something like smother Mayweather, without holding, and keep his punches short and hard. Not looping like hey sometyimes tend to do. Attack the body, and keep him against the ropes. use his ljab way more when he's going in, too. Then attack the body, and sneak a shot or two upstairs. Something like that.
I know quite a few people who like Joe Calzaghe but don't like Ricky Hatton, myself for one. I might like Ricky more if he would stop the one punch and hold thing he does. He's a professional now, and should have stopped that in the amateurs. He also should stop saying he is exciting, because what he does is not. I also wish he would move up to 147, so I actually do like him a lot more for moving up to fight Floyd, and hopefully he stays put now that he has moved up a second time. So in short, if Ricky changes just a couple of things, he'll be okay in my book.
