What is it with fans always wanting to see prospects lose?

especially on these message boards. Is it that there are just too many people here that could not make it so they pull against the good ones? is it just like everything else in life where those on top are always criticized and the losers have all the excuses why the other guy got lucky? Andre Berto dominated that fight. He got hit with one HUGE shot and was hurt. So the hell what!!! The kid showed great heart and this might have been the best thing that could have happened to him. There are way too many haters on this board that want to jump all over anyone who has ever even been wabled or say that the greats were never really that good.

I think that a number of the teenage posters on boxingscene are more interested in "owning" people than in following boxing. That means that when a prospect builds up a following a considerable and vocal minority want to see them fail so that anyone who has thrown their lot in with this new guy can be "owned" by said minority. I, and others like me, come on here to discuss boxing, not to score internet points in a game that most of us aren't even playing.

well lacy had jetlag on that night only reason he lost and he was drugged. and kessler is gonna destroy calzaghes osteoporosis inflicted ass. lacy was here for 2 weeks and how the fuck can he be jet lagged when the fight was in american hours you fucking retard and he wasnt drugged just exposed and put your epoints where your mouth is lol calzaghe is gonna humiliate kessler that bad hel get ridiculed for fighting him

i still count calzaghe as a prospect since he hasn't stepped up his level of competition since 1983. so kessler and lacy are prospects also

that was not a lucky punch. i even predicted a couple rounds earlier that rivera was going to catch him with a shot like that. it was a good wakeup call for Berto. He's ready natual talent wise, but he needs a couple more tv fights before he faces a big time guy. his mindgame isnt there yet. Berto will still be champion one day and i hope he does, but i feel he got babied a little bit. he was clearly dazed and his corner cheated to give him an extra min of recovery.
