Why Can't the UFC and Boxing Just Get Along?

why does there have to be competition? why cant the UFC just go its own way and boxing go its own way? the UFC isnt really intrested in boxing. boxing and boxers are the ones talking all the trash. personally, im a fan of both. i love boxing. i love the UFC. both have their strengths and weaknesses. neither are perfect and honestly, neither are going away. boxing can get worse, but it cant die. sports dont die. the UFC isnt a fad. its at its highest in popularity right now, but its going to be popular for years to come. whats the point of all these "boxing vs UFC" threads? you dont like the UFC? dont watch it! you dont like boxing? dont watch it! watch what you like, no need to hate and try to kill one or the other. this feud is stupid and unneccessary. boxing's not going to improve itself by comparing to the UFC, it needs to fix its problems by looking at them and fixing them, not by looking at something else. the UFC is at its peak, so let its fans enjoy it, it was never this popular before. dont spoil it for the fans by sparking a rivalry. this isnt fucking L.A. let them both go their own way. this feud will never be ultimatly solved. so just leave it alone, cuz it wont go away by itself. it'll go away by just ignoring the differences. watch what you like, and let the respective sports go their own ways.

floyd doesnt do that shit out of frustration! whered you come up with that? you think he got in oscars face and talked trash to everyone cuz he was miffed that the media was following him around? floyds a spoiled brat who has to attack anyone who questions him. but he doesnt verbally abuse everyone he talks to simply because hes frustrated with the attention hes getting. if anything, he probly thinks hes not getting enough attention. thats not what im saying... if the camera is always around you its gonna catch all sides....the good, the bad, the ugly....i dont see anything wrong with trash talking in sports....Michael Jordan did it discreetly...Ray Lewis...Warren Sapp...and all these guys can back it up.... what makes him spoiled? he earned those millions...his dad didn't give it to him you're right he might want more attention and acts a fool when he gets it...soo maybe it's a phase...he wasn't doing it as an amature or early as a pro...people go through immature shit...some in the public's eye im not wasting another brain cell on this subject

I think the comparison- and battle between the two sports- is envitable. Boxing is the old kid on the block. It has the history, the past - and feels as if it is the lasting sport. UFC is a new kid that has come into town with more brutality and is, by the nature of the sport, grabbing more casual fans. Most of those that I know that watch UFC don't know shit about the different weight classes, etc. they just know who the current champions are and know they like how bloody it can be. Who made the first aggresive move and started the war? Who can say. It's not just boxing fans that attack UFC- it goes both ways. I have heard so many times that boxers are one dimensonal because they only use 'striking' while UFC fighters strike, grapple, etc. Boxing fans are a passionate, die-hard lot that will not take disrespect lightly. If you spit on our sport we want blood. Why can't we get along? Because a battle has been set in motion and neither side will ever just drop it - so we rage on. I'm not going to let some punk kid who backs a relativley new sport like UFC disrespect the historic, tradtional sport of boxing which I love- and some do. I'm fine staying on my side of the fence if they stay on theirs...but that isn't going to happen for quite awhile.

No one in the UFC gets as much interviews as PBF. Reporters and camera crews can get annoying and eventually people say whatever. Shooting the shit or just rambling... I agree, Mayweather is the king of verbal nonsense. The UFC draws my ire because it aims to weaken, and ultimately destroy the sport of Boxing. Dana White is muckraking controversy to put dollars in his pocket. My beef is more so with Dana White and the other mouth-pieces - than the athletes involved in the UFC organization. I like several of them as people. I'm not a very big fan of the sport.. It's not my thing. But I would have nothing to say if Dana White could keep to himself on the subject of UFC vs. Boxing. I'm merely responding to it, and responding to your question of why we cannot get along. The UFC side started the beef. They want funk. I don't know if the UFC is going to grow it's business by attacking Boxing.. It will turn off many people in the Boxing community and fanbase though. I feel markedly different about UFC since I started hearing all this nonsense. Dana White has revealed his character by getting into a childish feud with Tito Ortiz.. He's called him "ugly" and a "gorilla." They were going to fight - and then didn't. :wank: I could never find myself attracted to such filth. That's WWE.. Here's the deal...both boxing and UFC will be around for a long time. But... Boxing will always be the big brother. UFC makes the most noise because they want to prove they are better. Dana White never misses an oppurtunity to bash boxing. Why? It's a complex. Yes boxers do talk trash about about UFC and vice versa. Right now UFC has nothing to worry about until their fighters begin complaining about you know what-money? Then scandals and politics will be involved just like in all other sports. The reason Boxing will never have to worry about the "boxing product" is this: The best UFC fights will never compare to the best Boxing matches-----Castillo vs Corrales Barerra vs Morales, Gatti vs Ward, Ali vs Foreman No science will ever be sweeter than two warriors with the same weapons: Their Fists!

I've tried watching UFC and I just can't get interested. Their KOs are much weaker than boxing. All I ever read about UFC (and see) is "so and so was stopped by blows to the face". I see two blows get in and a referee telling them it's over. Wow. Not to mention, my first experience with UFC last summer was seeing a guy clearly win two out of three rounds by BOXING and lose the decision because the announcers said "he didn't push the action". WHO GIVES A FUCK? What a stupid, pointless sport. It's one thing to have bad decisions, but when the announcers defend them that's pathetic. They gave it to the name fighter by the way because he was on the other guy's back the entire third round. lol he sure got him good!

they ought to have a show with boxing and mma and let the crowd decide who put on the better more entertaining fights. not to be the decider of which is better but to see which one puts on a better show that night. i'm sure between the two in one show, that both boxers and mma guys would fight their asses off to make a statement, which would benefit all of us with some intense fights. i like fighting period, doesn't really matter what it is, but if i have to pick between the two, there is no comparison, boxing takes it hands down. but if i had to pick what era of boxing is better i would pick early 1900's late 1800's boxing over boxing today. or even before that when it was bareknuckle boxing. which in the reality of things bareknuckle boxing was more brutal and they had a broader range of strikes, similar to the mma. they were able to use elbows, back fists, open hand strikes, hit the throat, knee, grapple, etc, but no ground fighting. but back to the topic at hand, i think that mma and boxing should put together a show with both to see who's fights are more exciting, that way the two could thrive off the rivalry and both make money and good fights.............but that's just me.............
