So is OPEN-SCORING done or what?

Meldrick Taylor could have used Open Scoring in his fight with Chavez. As a concept though, it's TERRIBLE. yea. Im still glad they tried it though. Lots of people were complaining about how there was NO openscoring prior to it, and now you don't hear them anymore cause they found out first hand what a disaster it can be

It doesn't work. If one fighter is way ahead, it is usually because he is a better fighter. He will naturally coast to preserve his victory, and the other guy can do nothing about it, since he knows he's beaten anyway, not by the scoring, but by the action in the ring.....

Yeah but my point is Mormeck wouldn't have been sure he was ahead. You never can tell in wars. Can you imagine if Corrales or Castillo had backed off in the last few rounds? They wouldn't. But if one of them heard they were ahead 3 or 4 rounds, shit yeah they would.

Bell-Mormeck II was on the way to being the best fight of the year by far until Mormeck heard he was ahead and played it safe in the championship rounds. well i think it still is but yea i agree. You cant blame mormeck either, cause its the sensible thing to do when a guy like Bell is in the ring with you AND has already hurt you badly. There was only a few rare situations where Open Scoring would have really worked, and worked well, and those situations occurred in none of the times i saw it being used

that open scoring was incredibly stupid. i am glad that they dont do that anymore. i hated watching the fight when they had that stupid shit.

I agree completely. It's just plain stupid.

I hope so. Ive always been the biggest guy against it. I dont think there should be anything to change a way a guy fights. It just causes too much trouble all the way around.
