for actually paying attention to the undercard fights this time. NOrmally when the crowd isnt into it, neither are they.
Usually they talk about other fighters, the main event, and even sometimes the Final Four tournament or College football!
maybe they could've shown the right undercard fights. D-Hop gets a 1 round KO and they can't squeeze that in? Rock Allen? Nah, we have to suffer through a Librado Andrade fight, as if he's going to do anything significant ever, besides maybe get knocked out by Allan Green or someone else in need of a tune up. Miranda's supposed to be moving to 168. There's his perfect tune-up.
The Katsidis fight I was fine with, though not that interested in Katsidis .
I just couldn't get into the Linares-Larios fight. Oscar Larios totally doesn't need to fight outside of Telefutura or TV Azteca. Granted, he did better than he should have against Pacquiao, but that doesn't make him chief PPV undercard material, imo. Golden Boy has done more to push Larios than the much more deserving Fernando Montiel, what the hell? Don't blame Montiel for leaving.
wtf are talking about.
D-hop is so boring. And Rock allan is no where near the stage of his career where he should be on an HBO PPV. Not even a ESPN2 main event, and that says something.
The katsidis fight was awsome, Andrade may not be a big force in the division, but thats not why people watch boxing. Hes a very exciting fighter and i love seeing every time i can.
And the Linares fight was alright, i agree, but it was cool seeing Linares for the first time, he might be something special in a year or so.
And Katsidis isnt to raw, and hes amazingly exciting. But he gets hit to much, and he'll never ever be a top level fighter. He's basically destined to be the next arturo Gatti. Cause he'll eventually be so popular, the fans are gonna want him to take a step up in competition... and then he'll get destroyed.

Does HBO approve the undercards - or choose them?
I'm guessing they couldn't back out of the Andrade fight - it's clear they plan to show him again on After Dark. Once they've agreed pre-fights to payouts, they can't use the D. Hopkins footage without laying out more cash, can they?
Not sure exactly how the booking goes. Do you know?

They were a bit too hard on the replacement fighter who took the fight on 4 days notice - but the next two fights were so good - it wouldn't have made sense to be talking about anything but the FOY candidates going on in front of them.
This has happened before - remember Arce vs. Hussein I on the undercard of Pacquiao-Morales I?
They did a good job, other than Stewart at the end calling for the main event fighters to retire, based on a decent fight against eachother (When he even admitted they were fighters that made other fighters look bad) Kelerman even kept his "overstating things" tendancy, in check for the most part. Bravo.
