If Benard beats Winky tonight, do u have him ahead of RJJ?I already have him ahead of Roy Jones Jr based on longetivity.I wish they would have fought again when Hopkins was even better and nor riped when he faced Roy Jones Jr.
Big difference my friend, there was a rematch that fight and Taylor is the younger fighter.U can make a case that Jones Jr is 3rd to 4th best of this generation. His lack of big names in the second half of his career killed him.He kept ducking the big name fighters.
ok so name the fighter he ducked

You can added ducked Calzaghe for the last 5-10 years to that resume as well :P
Yeah, he ducked a guy that nobody in the States ever heard of prior to beating Lacy. No offense, I love Calzaghe but Hopkins beating him then would've done nothing for his career except piss an entire nation of Calzaghe fans off.
Roy beat an over-weight Toney and a riped Benard, its a shame they couldnt fight when Benard was at his best!!!Jones Jr is all hype, i cant think of a guy that ducked more fighters then this guy.
Your another one thats nuts who did Roy duck u cant say he was duckin bernard if he beat him already. Now everybody wants to fight Roy cause they saw him exposed but n his prime these guys wanted no part of him Calzage wasnt even thinkin bout roy n his prime cause he knew his ass would have got knocked out
Hopkins has been a smart businessman. He's great at fighting big names who have some sort of disadvantage. Whether it be a blown up Welterweight, or an overrated Tarver. There's a reason he didnt fight Winky at Middleweight.
i totally agree if he fought trinidad or oscar at their normal weight which is welterweight he would have got owned. Now he making winky move up 10 pounds this guy Hopkins is a joke and i have never looked at him as ever being one of the best he got owned by taylor twice and lost his first fight, Jones kicked his ass.

Yeah, and Hopkins got beat by a green Jermain Taylor.

All this boosting of Hopkins resume kind of bites you in the ass when you realize Roy beat this guy. And don't say it was because he wasn't in his prime yet because Roy was also only somethin like 24 years old.

If Hopkins beats Winky, another top name or two. Why wouldn't he be better than Jones? He's better than him to me, personally, anyway. Longer reign, longevity, better overall skills, didn't duck anyone (if you wanna count Jones or Calzaghe, realize it was a money thing more than anything else..).. and I just like his style much better. Never been seriously killed in a fight like Jones either. Especially not back to back.. (Though I never saw Hopkins first fight/loss)
To me, personally..
..Jones < Hopkins...
Is this guy serious did u say Hopkins is better skilled u need to b shot n your ass n Roy's prime he never ever got hit and he barely lost round........ n the olympics he went through them without losing a round and then he gets that bum ass decision which everyone knows he won. Come on how can u say Hop is betta than Roy when Hop has the label of being borin. Roy put on a show everytime he stepped n the ring just go to youtube and see who has better highlights
If I were Jones I wouldn't fight Bernard again either! The dude is a fucking animal.
Seriously though, let's say Hopkins beats Wright, then beats Calzaghe. Where would that put him in your book?
Ahh..
If he beats Calzaghe, at age 42 (or 43 if they decide to fight next year), he'd be Thimply the betht thince Thimply the betht.
P.S. Don't get me wrong, I like Hopkins. Anyone on this board can tell you that. I just call 'em like they are.
I think a serious case could be made on Bernard's half if he defeats Wright tonight. If he does he will have the following credentials on his record....
He went 95-4 in the Amateurs
Defended his middleweight title 20 consecutive times
Has notable wins over tough opponets like John David Jackson, Glen Johnson, Howard Eastman, Antwun Echols, and William Joppy.
Was the first fighter to unify his division since Marvin Hagler did in 1987
Has standout victories over both Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad
Is the only Middleweight in history to ever become Light Heavyweight champion, beating the man who beat Jones twice.
And if he wins tonight you can add that at 42 years of age, he came out of retirement and beat the #2 p4p guy in the sport today, second only to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Jones said that he'll never fight Bernard Hopkins again.
Hopkins needs to fight Joe Calzaghe.

I'm tired of all the bickering really, I hope Hopkins beats Wright tonight and then either rematches Jones or fights Calzaghe. I'd love to see Bernard settle this in the ring but sadly that will probably never happen.

Thats alot of bull.Trinidad looked like a natural middleweight. To me Hopkins's career sheet shits on Jones Jr's career sheet.I am rooting for Benard so he can go out in style against Joe Calza
You gotta be kidding me.
Winky Wright, a guy who's a natural 154lb fighter, looked bigger than Tito in their fight. Now how in the hell could Tito look like a natural 160lb. fighter?
Nothing on Hopkins' middleweight resume could eclipse Jones' domination of James Toney.

When everyone moved to SMW, he stayed at middleweight. He fought a bunch of guys who will never go down as being great and called out smaller guys for years.
Larry Merchant even once called him out on that.
Why didn't Hopkins, the guy who's a natural Light-Heavyweight chase the better fighters when they moved up to 168lbs and 175lbs?
Correctamundo.
