RJJ was great.
I doubt his current workrate would be enough to deal with the absolute best though. After 3/11 everybody knows if Kessler belongs to the elite - I as a fan don't have any doubts.
If Kessler defeats JC, RJJ would be an ok choice as a future opponent, if he really wants to make it in the US.
If Kessler beats calzaghe, i will take reasonable criticism, he has skills, but the footwork is just too horrible, but hey im no calzaghe fan either so lets see what happens,
If Kessler wins, he should be in the official (ring mag) p4p top 10, he would have 3 belts and be the real SM champion+ Undefeated.
And then he needs to go to america and fight over there.

Roy never spent the time learning his craft properly when he was younger, but rather just depended on his innate talent and speed. Because of that, once he slowed the tiniest bit and became slightly easier for other fighters to find, he started getting KO'd. Nothing to be ashamed of, just the facts of life. Anyway, I don't know how much Roy has been working on his actual boxing skills, in his recent training, but my guess is that if anyone would be able to find Roy with a flush right hand, it'd be Kessler. He's quick anyway, a highly skilled technician, and would probably have the timing within just a couple of rounds. However, I think Roy is somewhat bigger than him, and might just be able to take Kessler's right hand the few times he's land it, and pull off the decision win anyway, or possibly even a KO.
Kessler is fundamentally sound, but fights a bit robotic for a guy like Roy so I think Roy would have a good chance to beat Kessler, especially if Kessler doesn't pressure Roy and tries to fight Roy from a distance like he usually fights. He'd get picked apart pretty good.
roys legs are gone, he aint sidestepping, he just moves back.. all the athletic gifts roy was blessed with, father time has taken back..
what kessler usually fights... do you think a talented fighter like kessler, doesnt have the adaptability to see roys weaknesses-- johnson stalking roy behind a high guard, and just beating him, whilr roy is in the ropes.. come on, johnson just walked him down and kessler is better then johnson..
the way to beat roy, was laid out by tarver, perfectly executed, and followed up by johnson.. this plan kessler could easely adapt..

Roy is a hyped false legend, he is no legend he is a fraud. In a rematch even with a prime-roy jones jr, he'd get his ass beat by Hopkins.
Do you think Kessler could beat a prime RJJ?
youve gotta be kidding me..
what makes you think that what johnson did, kessler couldnt..?
roy wouldnt stand a chance, kessler would easely back jones up, am punish him.. roy beats ham-who, and all of a sudden his dick is being sucked dry, by a bunch of retards living in the past..
one called kess amateurish.. nah mann, hamshaw is amateurish, and yet jones was pressured backwards and onto the ropes..
prime vs prime, nobody would stand a chance against roy at 168.. he would beat the living shit out of everyone at that weight..
Just watched Kessler-Beyer. Kessler looked a bit basic to handle Roy if Roy is on. Kessler looks very strong and he has a solid jab. Against a south paw he didn't really land much or dominate until the KO.
I think a fast Roy would toy Kessler and get through by avoiding most of Kesslers shots. If he goes to the ropes too much he'll get chinned though so it depends on which Roy turns up.
what exactly is amateurish about the way kessler fights?
He has a textbook style, good defense and throws straight punches. Americans always see these characteristic as amateurish.
Roy easily beats the amateurish Kesslar. In his prime, an easy destruction ko. Now, an easy decision. Cmon boys, we are talking about one of the best boxers of all time. Yall musta forgot!
Ill try and watch the Hanshaw fight soon before i make a judgement, but lets not forget, Kessler aint in the same universe as jones skills wise, wether jones still has it, is another issue.

If they fight in Europe, Kessler wins. He'd be the busier fighter, taking the fight to Roy and holding him to the ropes for a good part of the fight. Just enough to take it.
In Vegas or Atlantic City, or even worse somewhere in Florida, Jones gets the decision just by showing up! Just jokin'.
There's a very good chance that Roy gets tagged by Kessler, who's got decent power in both hands, and doesn't get up.
i havent seen enough of kessler's fights to give a good analysis of his skills
but from the few fights ive seen him in he doesnt look bad
he has decent power and would give the current roy a fight
but i think roy can beat him on points
the prime roy jones would massacre kessler
