Good article . . . here
"Miguel Cotto, 30-0, knocked out Zab Judah in the 11th round. Since Mayweather often plays the I-knocked-this-guy-out-faster-than-you game with upcoming opponents, it is worth noting that Judah lasted the distance against him.
Ricky Hatton, 43-0, knocked out Jose Luis Castillo with a fourth-round body shot. Mayweather won two rugged decisions over Castillo.
Finally, Paul Williams, 33-0, scored a dominant unanimous decision Saturday over fearsome Antonio Margarito. Mayweather never fought Margarito, though he turned down $8 million to do so. But a different common opponent, Sharmba Mitchell, was knocked out in six rounds by Mayweather, and by Williams in four.
Add to that group Shane Mosley and, reportedly, Oscar De La Hoya -- Larry Merchant said on Saturday's HBO telecast that De La Hoya intends to finish his career at welterweight -- and the division's star power rivals that of the early 1980s, when Leonard and Thomas Hearns ruled.
But that assumes Mayweather, who has ample excuses to ignore it all, participates. "
What do you guys think?
Ditto...
mayweather would of stopped judah in 10 if it wasnt for the ring melee.
Re-interpreted as: low-blow-eetis in the peenus causing riot in the squared circle.:boxing:
IMO Mayweather is one of the best of this generation for sure and all-time I think he needs a few more huge wins to be in that category. Right now is a great opportunity for him to make that claim with the WW division being so loaded. If he were to wipe out the division right now, he would demand respect and there would be no doubt he's one of the best of all time.
That article is B.S. and so are all of your responses. I know that guy who wrote that and guess what? He's the same guy who was ripping Floyd over the Margarito thing and saying that Margarito was the man. All these guys favorite hyped up fighters lose and it makes them even more madder at Floyd. Its a joke.
All that stuff he said about KO's was so dumb. Floyd doesnt talk like that. No one even thinks like that for the fact that Floyd is super small, started at 130, and is not a KO type fighter anyway. Wow, Cotto dropped Zab? Like Cotto isnt going to be more capable of knocking out someone then Floyd? That dont prove shit. Cotto started at 140 and was a fucking house at that weight. Hatton stopped Castillo? Hatton also started at 140, Castillo is past his prime, he sucked in his last fight, and it was only his 2nd fight at 140 while Hatton walks around at nearly a 190 pounds.
Floyd knocks out Mitchell in 6 and Williams does it in 4 but he thinks that makes Floyd look bad when Floyd did it 1st and Williams is like a fucking MW? Then because Williams schools a guy that Floyd said was garbage anyway, he's supposed to give Williams all these props? That article was so stupid and biased
if mayweather wants to prove his legacy like he says he wants to, he needs to fight all the top welterweights and try to unify the division... he's not fooling anyone, he needs to step up and challenge all of them, that's how he'll get his respect
if mayweather beat cotto and shane mosley, i think its pretty much safe to say that he is indeed THe best pound for pound. nobody should doubt his legacy anymore when he succeed doing that
IF HE JUST BEAT MOSLEY I WOULD GIVE HIM THE #1 SPOT....
THE DOWN FALL OF BEING AT WELTERWEIGHT IS FLOYD CANT BULL SHIT THE PUBLIC ...THERES TOO MUCH TALENT HE HAS TO FIGHT.. HE CANT RETIRE.. UNLESS HE MOVES UP TO MIDDLE WINS THE TITLE THEN RETIRES WITCH MIGHT BE EVEN HARDER DEPENDS WHO THE CHAMPION IS NOW THAT JERMAIN IS MOVING UP
if mayweather beat cotto and shane mosley, i think its pretty much safe to say that he is indeed THe best pound for pound. nobody should doubt his legacy anymore when he succeed doing that
