I think he's the best in the sport, but Mayweather-DLH wasn't fight of the year.

I'm probably the biggest Floyd Mayweather fan around this forums. I admire the way he fights and he is very exciting! Not a KO artist but ver exciting! vs Hoya fight of the year in thecnical terms to me... Alot of people do hate on Floyd because they are not used to a black guy making it on his own and taking control over his career, some are just jealous they don't see anyone else that skilled (black, white or otherwise) but i'd like to think alot of his haters hate him for being such a cocky ass. The reality must be a mix of the above...... I just threw up a little in my mouth.

The reality must be a mix of the above. About Gatti, as said, he was too weary. Those fights really take alot of a fighter. I felt sorry for Gatti but most sorry for his fans. His real fans should have not wanted that fight to happen and should have demoved him from that. The rest are just happy Gatti got punished again. Even the way he talks is of someone who has had far too many fights and direct hits to the head. About EliteSoldier, they have to stop letting 14 year olds here. Man if you aren't 14 i'm really sorry for you.

I don't think it had to do of being old. Gatti doesn't have the power to hurt a natural welterweight. If it was at 140 Gatti would win. I don't see why you gotta bring Floyd up in this thread. Floyd didn't give Gomez tips on beating Gatti.

Yeah, Gatti of Old would have beat Gomez, just like the Chavez of Old would have beaten most of the fighters who beat him when he was past it. Most of Ray Robinson losses came when he was over forty. Gatti just didn't know when to quit. He can make a lot of money of his name in New Jersey, like open up a restaurant or something.

Agreed. Too much punishment for too many years in too many fights. Also, I doubt Gomez would have lasted 5 rounds with Cintron that night. Man, he looked good. I'm hope him and Williams gets made.

Yeah no doubt the old Gatti would have KO'd Gomez. But Gatti doesn't have it in him anymore. Gatti didn't want to be in anymore punishing brawls so he tried to box something he's never been good at and got stopped. I felt even when fighting Gomez if Gatti just started to go forward and brawl he would have won but that's not who Gatti is anymore.
