Jones, Hanshaw postfight presser!
July 15, 2007

Murad Muhammad started off the post fight press conference with a call of "He's back, and The Gulf is back!" Muhammad was pleased with the announced attendance of over 9,000 fans.
Anthony Hanshaw was short and sweet when he arrived at the podium. He praised Jones but had disagreed with the judging. "I thought I won the fight, I applied more pressure. Roy might have won 2 or 3 rounds. I eat, sleep and dream boxing. I will be back on top."
On the other hand, Roy Jones, Jr was not at a loss for words calling out Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, Felix "Tito" Trinidad and even Wladimir Klitschko.
Forget this mumbo-jumbo Klitschko talk by Roy, it's all being put in place to stir interest. Roy NEEDS to fight Glen Johnson again and beat him for his legacy. He already has a win over Tarver so he's got that covered....he really needs to go after Glen and obtain vindication.
He did lose the last two fights to Tarver (and the first win was a robbery). He needs to beat both Tarver and Johnson.
Right after the fight he only said he would fight Tito,Johnson or Hopkins.
Funny thing is, a lot of Wlad recent opponents didn't have better chances at beating Wlad. Byrd who already got his ass kicked by Wlad, Ray Austin without a chance and Brewster didn't looked good either. Wlad is just a hell of a fighter.
THey guy is just exicted because he is back on the flow. nothing unusal all fights all out names after they win a fight nothing new on that.
I agree. It doesn’t do any harm to call out any boxer. In fact, it is actually a smart move. Throw out all the darts you can and see what sticks. Roy obviously must know deep down Wlad would make short work of him.
Good for Roy making a comeback though.

some even called out Godzilla and Gorrillas if i recall does it mean they will fight them?
Even The Roy Jones who Fought John Ruiz wouldn't last 3 rounds with Wlad..
Wlad is No slugger.. he is a mobile fast handed and smart Boxer..
Why do you Think RJJ went after Ruiz in the 1st place?? because he was the weakest Link..
Wlad would SERIOUSLY hurt RJJ
agreed although i think the RJJ that fought ruiz mite have a better chance than you think. He could be faster and avoid wlad and win by UD but i'd still pick wlad to win

I think the Jones that fought Ruiz maybe but this is scary. Roy is just playin but i do favor him over some top fighters which is crazy considering he hasnt even been in the ring.
why are people mocking jones chances against wlad?? sure wlad is much much bigger and is talented with his jab, but jones showed he still has the hand speed and can fight on the ropes. jones has to evade wlads jab with his speed and blocking and counter with the sinister right jones has, that will tire wlad over 12 rounds and jones will win on points.
There is only one fighter would will take Klitschko out: David Haye :) But seriously i really think he has a chance. So tired of seeing Klitschko fighting guys who have no chance vs him and the discution is something like "in which round will Klitschko get the tko?" Makes me sick specially knowing there are tall, young and hungry fighters out there but the one who gets a mandatory is a 35 year old. Kinda makes you think about on who's deciding this.

Absolutely...
i love roy but this is ridiculus, mayb if roy said this if wlad was around when roy was at his prime we'd take him SLIGHTLY more seriously but even then it'll still end up in a massacre.
Wlad is no John "The Mute Man" Ruiz.
If Roy would've not gotten KTFO, against Tarver and that other guy, and won, or even lost by a slight margin to those guys, he would sound more credible right now.
But, Roy is a gambler of sorts. Big risk taker.
Now, giving him the benefit of the doubt, if he looks spectacular in winning say three more fights against better opposition, I say go for it.
But even then, he'll have to re-hire Mackie Shilstone to get him in top form.
So, at this moment, go home, Roy.
Count your money and play with your kids.
They'll need a dad that can put a sentence together at 50 yrs of age:boxing:
