would he have a claim to be classed as one of the greatest boxers of all time?
in my opinion if wlad had vitalis chin he'd be able to fight the current crop two at a time and would be up there with ali, marciano and louis in the hall of famers and would have been favourite against any boxer i can think of
such a pity that such a big, strong, mobile and smart fighter has got the chin of a small girl
Vitali/Kirk Johnson was one of the most one-sided beatdowns I've ever seen. Klitchko was like a wolf trying to corner a plump, juicy rabbit. Didn't take him long, either. I agree, Vitali has that killer instinct that Wlad doesn't have (yet?). He may develop it later on, probably will, in fact, if genetics hold true at all.
Wlad used to have it, but it seems that him and steward have taken it out of his gameplan in order to deal with the stamina issues that he used to have.
It's not just his chin that holds him back. Wlad doesn't have the mean streak that vitali has, when vitali got hit he would get pissed off and fire straight back rather than falling to pieces. Also, if VK hurts his opponent then he doesn't hold back, he looked like an evil bastard when he was kicking the shit out of danny williams. Wlad was a beast going forward until his lost to brewster.

Vitali was beating Bryd by a mile before he injured himself, Sanders wasn't out of shape he was always out of shape.
uh,,,no. he was a lean 225 lbs against wlad and 235 with a gut against vitali. watch both fights with your eyes open next time. yes,,,vit was winning the byrd fight handily,,,but not as easily as wald
Good Joke, what do you base this on? Wlad getting KO'd by a tubby Sanders? or the fact that Vitali destroyed Sanders. Vitali has been in way better opposition and his only defeats are from injury and a cut vs Lewis, he was beating Lewis who is a all time great heavy.
wald would have knocked out the version of lewis that vit fought. he wouldnt have taken the right hands that he took from vit

lol,,,I love how everyone just points to the sanders fight. vitali beat him becuz he has the better chin and sanders was also out of shape in that fight and vit didnt underestimate him like wlad did. obviously vit saw his fight with wlad. wlad has beaten more top 10 guys than vitali. he beat byrd while vit didnt for one
he fights nothing like holmes.. but as far as the power that might be becuase wlad is a giant.. if holmes was in shape he would of been 210 lbs
lol,,,,,yea part of it is his size. mass x speed=power size alone doesnt do it. is mccline a big puncher? wlad turns into his punches and throws them with great leverage and speed. most heavies that big dont have his technique. holmes back then in shape was around 210 and wasnt a big puncher,,,nor was he when he was in the 240's later in his comeback
I agree that he panics, but I don't think he'll always be mentally vulnerable. Inside a year, maybe two, he'll be completely over it. It's a simple matter of maturity, nothing more. I also agree that his chin isn't bad. Peter caught him flush a couple of times, had him down once, but he didn't seem to be very unsteady afterwards. I think he's just convinced himself that he's going to go down if he gets hit hard, and his body does what his mind thinks it's going to. When he grows into himself (and you can see the difference between now, and just a couple of years ago, already), he has the potential to be legendary.
yea,,I love how people say he has a glass chin when brew connected with not 1 but 2 huge flush left hooks right on the chin near the end of that last round of the first fight when wlad was gassed and he still didnt fall,,,,yet just one of those hooks toppled golota and krasniqui. whats that make there chins?
no he wouldnt. wlad has one punch power in either hand,,,,,holmes didnt

I like how people criticize boxers for using a jab effectively; then turn around and say some new boxer needs to jab more.
There is a reason that on this forum and on TV, people say that "so-and-so needs to work off of his jab and jab more"
On topic,
Wlad would be known as the white Larry Holmes if he had a chin.

never heard someone critiscise a fighter before for having an effective jab
Yep, it's kind of funny. I've always heard that "a perfect jab, used with great frequency, is the key to becoming an unbeatable fighter", but when someone puts that into practice and proves it's truthfulness, you see idiots criticizing for it? Unbelievable.

Klitschko panics when hes hit flush, there is a cautious side to Klitschko that means he will always be mentally vulnerable, his chin is not that bad.

hey,,,,,if your jab is good enough to beat guys with one hand then so be it. he has 44 ko's in 49 wins so he obviously has a lot more than just a jab. hate on :bottle:
