Here's a bit from an article . . .
"Fight Most Want to See Second Half of 2007
Christopher Roche: Hatton vs. Malignaggi. I am already on the record here. Please check out my interview with Malignaggi from July 5, 2007. Hatton and Malignaggi match up better than Hatton and Mayweather do, and I believe Hatton vs. Malignaggi will be the most entertaining light-welterweight fight that can be made right now.
Ron Samul: I think it's time for Ricky Hatton to take on (retired) Mayweather. Mayweather thinks he can roll over Hatton with an easy win. It shows that Mayweather's retirement is based on making his return a historical turning point in boxing. If he comes for Hatton this early in his so called retirement, then it would be merely a boxing footnote. According to an article on ESPN.com this could happen in the fall. The Hatton camp is ready and Mayweather is already running his mouth over it. Those are good signs, and I can’t wait.
Danny Serratelli: There are a lot of them. I can’t wait to see two that are supposed to be set: Jermain Taylor vs. Kelly Pavlik and Ricky Hatton vs. Floyd Mayweather. I’d like to see Hatton beat Floyd, but if he does not fight Floyd, the fight I’d like to see would be Miguel Cotto against Floyd Mayweather in a small, slow ring."
Personally, I wouldn't mind Cotto-Mayweather in a smaller ring. In fact I tink that as a rule, boxing should use a small ring relative to each weight class. But, what do I know? I'd also like to see Zab Judah again before the year is up . . . which might happen?
So, what fight does everyone want to see get made?
y do ppl wanna see mayweather dela hoya 2?
unless floyd has offense its gunna be boring..
i want to see
mosley floyd..2 speed fighterss
hatton vs cotto
shannon brigs vs klitsko
Mosely doesn't have a counter style to Floyd like Hatton or Cotto, it would be a much easier fight for Floyd as well as more boring.
I think Vargas v Mayorga is a good start!!! Also i would like to see Tito v Cotto!!! This fight could be as big as dlh v pbf!!! Everyone always compares cotto to tito but even though i like cotto he is nothing compared to tito!!! Tito may need a tune up fight but he will win!!!
mosley vs mayweather
hatton vs malignaggi
calzaghe vs Dawson
sturm vs abaraham
Cotto vs mosley, clottey, cintron, or winner between margarito/williams.
juan diaz vs nate campbell
Holyfield against any current heavyweight champ except wlad.
Williams vs. Cotto
If Paul loses then I don't care who fights Cotto next because Margarito just doesn't do it for me. Mayweather/Hatton is the sexy matchup of conversation right now, we'll see...
I would like to see mosley-mayweather, hatton is a dumb fight for mayweather in my opinion outside of money. If he wants legacy he needs to fight mosley while mosley can still fight and not in a year or two. Or the winner of margarito-williams would be nice to
That would be a better fight but boxing is about money and nothing says $ like two proven (at least one of them is) undefeated fighters. If Floyd fights again, may it be vs Hatton in whatever ring glove size they think Floyd is more prone to lose, because that's what its all about, pbf losing, isn't it? Analogy with the posts about Wladimir Klitschko is unavoidable, check them out and feel the tone differences.
Here's a good matchup, about the same size, both young up and comers:
Alexander Povetkin vs. Eddie Chambers.
and of course, Hatton vs. Mayweather which hasn't been made official yet.
Heres my take. Many here obviously think Mosley/Mayweather is an interesting matchup. I don't think so. lets face it, Mosley hasn't been a serious combination puncher in how long? That added to the fact that Mosley hasn,t faced a strong opponent in a very long while spells boring posturing all night versus Mayweather.( His last win of note was in 2003 vs DLH-since then he has lost twice to Wright and beaten Vargas,Cruz,Collazo)
How the hell does that spell a Matchup with Mayweather? Hatton on the other hand is undefeated and generally considered the best light welter in the world. From a serious perspective anyone other than Margarito,Williams,Hatton,or Cotto is just another Payday for Mayweather. Mosley is talented to be sure, but based on the last four years can anyone really argue that Mosley is not what he once was?
Kessler/Calzaghe is another great fight to be made-Hope they do it!
Pac/Jmm- needs to be made aswell. Based on their last encounter it's a pickem fight IMHO.
Lastly the Heaveyweights need to Unify. The only thing worse than a mediocre division is a Mediocre division with no clear champ!
I would also like to see Mosely/Mayweather as well, but that fight seems to be far from happening.
One that seemed to be almost certain to be made towards the second half of this year is the Calzaghe/Kessler fight, but money issues have gotten in the way. It's the fight I would most like to see.
I want to see Salita fight Malignaggi or maybe even Hatton, but he says he wants to wait four more fights and then challenge somebody big like Ricky.
I would also like to see Mayweather vs Mosley
Salita could do well against Malignaggi, not so sure about him going after Hatton.
