I think he shouldnt rush things!!! I hope he is making the right choice!!! He is a good boxer but he may need to be better for the likes of Kessler and Calzaghe!!! Cause he will be the smaller fighter and maybe even the smaller puncher!!! Kessler will steam roll him and Calzaghe will out box him!!! I saw someone else said it already His defence needs work!!! Thats a smart comment!!!
Taylor will beat pavlik and if he wants to move up so be it!!!
Why 168? He should just go to 175. The 168 division is bogus anyway. I'll be glad to see him lose.
no, taylor should stay away from 175, 168 is the place to go. bad chad dawson is like pavlik with handspeed, he would knock taylor the fuck out and probably end his career. the real 175ers are way too strong for taylor, he'd just get fucked up. junior middleweight ouma hurt taylor with his punches, chad dawson would drive jermain's nose through his brain
This would make sense. Taylor is probably having a difficult time making 160 for each fight now and after Pavlik all the big money and important fights are probably at SMW and above.
if he cant make 160 why risk killing yourself cause that will only get you a L on your record, after pavlik he should fight where he can make weight and fight at 100%, that being said there still probally 3-4 guys he can fight at 160 but im sure all those guys can fight at 168 anywayz, not to mention IF winky beats B-hop taylor can go to 175 and fight him or have winky come back down
His problem is that he can't make 160 without killing himself in camp. That was never a secret - and even more disgraceful that his pre-title run came against faded (and/or shot) blown-up welterweights and junior middles.
I'm fine with this decision. The only notable middleweight left to fight after Pavlik would be Abraham, and neither side seems terribly interested in travelling to the other's country to make the fight happen.
All that said, I'm not sure he gets past Pavlik. But if he does, I'd much rather see Taylor against top super middleweights than to see more junior middles move up to fight him, or even a fight against John DUDdy.
I'm one of the biggest Taylor supporters here, and there are very few of us. But I want to know: is he going to feast on middleweights when he goes to super middleweight? I lose more respect for Taylor every fight. He needs to fight and beat Pavlik at 160lbs. If he doesn't, I will finally write him off like many of you did this time last year.
He probably needs to get rid of Steward too because it isn't working at all.
I'm not sure this is a wise move by Taylor. I just hope he is not pushed along too quickly. He really needs to work on his defense and learn how to throw combos if he wants to fight the bigger guys.
Taylor plans to give up title!

WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor's proposed September 29 clash with Kelly Pavlik at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ, will apparently be his last as middleweight champion. Taylor's hometown newspaper, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, reported on Sunday that a decision has been made by Team Taylor to move to super middleweight after that fight.

Win, lose, or draw I think it'll be a good decision for Taylor.
There's no one left at 160lbs.
