According to a popular website (which I can't name here, you should know what site) states that Oscar and Golden Boy promotions has shown a strong interest in fighting Ricky Hatton for his next bout!
Wow I was shocked by this one. Hatton is at 140 and DLH couldn't make 147 even if he stopped eating for the rest of the year.
Do you all think he really wants Hatton?
OR is he is trying to player hate or piss on Mayweather's potential bout with Ricky Hatton? Just to mess with Mayweather lol
Who would win DLH or Hatton?
And 650k against Mosley...
True but that fight wasn't hyped anywhere near the level of the Mayorga fight or the PBF fight of course. The Mayorga fight was hyped because it was Oscar's ring return after a year and a half off.
Keep in mind he did over a million buys with Hopkins, who had a following but nothing like Hatton or Cotto. That's my reasoning as to why DLH-Winky would do a million, because it's a big fight and DLH would carry the promotion to that number of buys.
Cotto and Hatton bring their own fans to the table.
Dude no hating goggles here. Just explaining what I see man. Hatton held throughout the fight, watch it on youtube. Even the fans booed at certain points when it was obvious Hatton wanted to hold (and I am not refering to when the fans booed while the ref was contuining to warn both fighters)
Inside fighting has nothing to do with holding. Did you watch the Kostya Tsuzu fight. If there was a compubox stat for holding and grappling. Hatton would score more than punches.
I just see that certain fans are blind to reality. I dont mind you being a hatton fan. But excusing his excessive grappling is insane.
I've watched all but a few of his fights, and they were the ones much earlier in his career. I've watched the fight about 5 times. In round 1, holding, some boos amongst the cheers. Round 2, it's cleaned up a little. Second half of round 2 onwards it's all inside fighting with a hell of a little cheering, i didn't hear no boos after that.
I'm not excusing his holding, it was the totally wrong approach in the Collazo fight, and if i was a non-Hatton fan i think i would have turned off the TV in the second half of the Urango fight. He fought Castillo and went a long way to getting back to his normal fighting style. The KT and JLC fights had some holding but also an awful lot of throwing.
His fights pre-Tszyu had very few holding and alot of bullying and boxing. Give him a chance and the benefit of the doubt regarding the Collazo and Urango fights.
Cotto and Hatton are nowhere near the popularity of even Trinidad. Those fights do a million buys or so at best.
Cotto-DLH would be an interesting fight, at least. Hatton loses a lopsided fight and Winky wins a lopsided fight...
de la hoya made 900000+ against mayorga..................
Obviously DLH-Winky doesn't compare to DLH-PBF, but Cotto and Hatton would be somewhat close. DLH-Hatton would be on PPV in both countries (DLH-PBF was free in the UK, wasn't it?), so there's something to be said for that. It would be a mega-event. Same with Cotto, although on a lower level.
DLH vs. Hatton or Cotto would do around 1.5 million buys in the US, whilst Winky would probably do about 1 million.
DLH always has options...and he can still fight a bit, which is great for boxing.
actually I disagree I think that DLH would not top 750k buys with any fighter other than a Trinidad rematch (possibly) and a mayweather rematch. I think Oscar's popularity isn't as great as perceived. Granted his last fight with Mayweather broke records but remember he lost that fight. Now i could be wrong but I just think DLH doesn't have very many viable opponents that ppl want to see him fight.
Cotto vs DLh doesnt make sense to me neither does Hatton and DLH
DLH may just retire I don't see the general public buying into these fights with smaller fighters who are building their own legacy
Why don't we just have DLH fight manny pacquaio if thats the case. j/k
None of those fights do the numbers that DLH-Mayweather did even if you include the UK money...

You're posting well in this thread SiN, but don't act like you're DLH's accountant. You have no reason to care about the numbers.
There are three fights I'd love to see DLH take for May 2008 (or whenever):
1. Cotto
2. Hatton
3. Winky (if he beats Hopkins)
If DLH could make 147 for this, it would be a huge international event. It would not break the DLH-PBF records for US PPV, but the overall stature of the event would exceed it--the combined US/UK money would be incredible.
Id rather see:
Mayweather/Mosley
De La Hoya/Winky at a catchweight (157 maybe)
Hatton/Malignaggi
Of course none of this will probably happen.
The only one that will probably happen is Malinaggi and hatton
how many hatton fights have u seen?
6 i think................................................ and as i said, when he boxes he does it good but as he knows he is not going to be succesful with that style in the upper level of the sport, or maybe because he tires doing that, he resorts to his crap hold style................
plus all the times he talks about floyd, when hatton has clearly been ducking him for 2 years, and im no mayweather fan, you can ask, but i find it extremely cheap to talk about someone but not wanting to fight him...especially when Hatton suposedly is a nice person.....(and his style also proves hes not...his style is dirty and ilegal or should be illegal...)
Right. Watch the Castillo fight WITHOUT your hating goggles on. First round, yes, a fair amount of holding. After some warnings from the referee he was warned and in the following 3 rounds it was all out inside fighting. Yes, Hatton holds his opponents arms sometimes to gain an advantage on the inside. That is inside fighting, go and learn about it. Inside fighting doesn't solely consist of two fighters putting their heads on each others shoulders and banging away at the body without trying to defend or gain advantage.
Urango fight he boxed well for the first half of the fight, before the bodyshots took their toll, and combined with the fact that he had a bad chest infection before the fight, i think he's entitled to do what was necessary to win the fight. Collazo he ate punches all night and fought completely the wrong fight.

Hatton is too small to use the holding and rough house tactics on De La Hoya, I too think Oscar beats him up worse than Mayweather due to Oscar's greater power.
First to answer your question I never said Hatton couldn't fight. He just holds entirely to much. His strategy (watch his fight) is to hold until he is ready to punch. His opponent has no defense to this b/c his arms are being held.
Ricky Hatton punches get through b/c how can you dodge or block a punch when you are at the same time trying to pry your arms from this clown? Hatton has mastered the timing in holding his opponent until he is ready to throw his punches.
John Ruiz won world championships. Who cares? The general consensus is Hatton is a holdoholic.
Fight and stop holding thats all I ask

He's saying this to make Hatton look bad. Because he's friends with Mayweather, I hope both of them and this whole old guard quickly vanishes if Hatton beats Floyd and I'm predicting him to so that will work toward that end.
Make Hatton look bad as in.
Hatton beats Mayweather.
People can say then well he never beat De La Hoya but Mayweather did.
RICKY HATTON shouldnt get the money De la Hoya brings.....Hatton may very well be the only fighter ive ever hated......
hatton might not be everyones idea of a great boxer. but most ppl in england love to see boxers with heart and agression witch is what hattons all about.
as for hating him thats quite pathetic. and i think you should grow up.
Why are you asking him such a stupid question?? He explained why he's not a Ricky Hatton fan, so live with it, not everyone can be a Ricky Hatton fan, also they've shown enough fights from Hatton here in the US.
He may have xplained quite adequately why he isn't a fan, but he doesn't come close to explaining why he hates Hatton. I'm no fan of Mayweather but I don't hate him. Where would I find the time?

i'd disagree, the consensus in america with people who have seen him fight maybe 3 times is that he holds. The feeling in britain is that hes an exciting fighter who although doesnt get it right every time, he gives 100%. hence 10 000 fans crossing the pond to watch him. 10 000 people can't be wrong
