Ya'll got any ideas for movies about boxers that never got made?
I'll start...
I've always wanted to do one of two ideas...
HAWK
Tha Aaron Pryor Story
Dont know who'd I'de want to play the Hawk though. Any ideas?
OR
SUGAR
The Sugar Ray Robinson Story
w/Terrence Howard as Ray. I heard he was doing a Joe Louis movie...but why? He looks just like SRR. SRR story is much better than Joe's.
If they ever make one, I think Robert DeNiro would be a great actor for Jake. ;)
They should do it in black and white too....it'll give it a look of authenticity...:Flush:
Sonny Liston’s story would be interesting to see on the big screen, especially in regards to the Mafia ties.
And obviously, Mike Tyson. That is a movie just waiting to happen.
Kelly Pavlik the movie, since people underestimated him, and he has proven them wrong over and over again. And the battle between him and Miranda was intense and would be a great movie fight.
Why do you keep getting these strange ideas?
Pavliks is a no-story-body. He needs a bigger string of wins than Mckart and Miranda...
As one poster has already mentioned there is already a film dedicated to this story- Joe and Max.
Max Schmelling comes across well in it, he was a very reluctant representative of nazi germany.
I have looked this up now and I may well buy it. Thanks!
SRR
JCC
Salvador Sanchez (cant believe nobody mention him)
Hopkins
A good one about mike tyson
Jack Dempsey
and by the way about louis and max, there is already one about them, its an HBO movie, its good.
lots of love for my israeli and jew brethren, but to do a story about salita was lame and totally premature. it debuted not too far from me a couple weeks ago here in silver spring, MD - heard it was a bore from a buddy of mine who works next door to AFI.
yea I didn't understand it either, but I guess there was money to be made

Max Schmelling comes across well in it, he was a very reluctant representative of nazi germany.
"In 1938, during the Kristallnacht, Schmeling hid two teenage sons of a Jewish friend in his Berlin hotel room, protecting them from the SS and Gestapo at great risk to himself. The two boys, Henry and Werner Lewin, were eventually smuggled out of Germany with Schmeling's help."
-according to wikipedia
I'd like to see the story of Joe Louis against Max Schmeling. That could be simply outstanding.

I think a movie about the Mayweather family would be a good movie. Theyve all boxed Roger and Floyd jnr being champions Jeff and Floyd snr contenders.
All the stuff thats happened out of the ring to them all would make for a great movie.
A Dysfunctional family that are characters in their own right theyd definitley be good movie material.
Joe Calzaghe should get his own movie. He was bullied when he was a kid and look at him now. :)
He's the champ and all you haters need to give him respect, same dipshits who claimed lacy would destroy calzaghe. Then when lacy failed, americans rooting for lacy turned their back on lacy and said lacy is a bitch. :nonono:
Same thing will happen when Calzaghe steps in the ring with Kessler, if he beats him people will down-rate Kessler. Calzaghe deserves respect and a movie made after him.
blah blah blah.....shut it fool, this is not a self serving thread....
The one in bold print has been done: "The Great White Hope" with James Earl Jones as Jack Johnson.
Clarification: James Earl Jones' fictional character was actually "Jack Jefferson", based on the life of Jack Johnson.
I though it was based on Larry Holmes/ Cooney fightNo. The one based on Holmes/Cooney was titled: "The Great White Hype."
