Thanks. Honest, I'm a fan of both. I train mma, so I box and do BJJ. I'm on record as saying boxers are tougher, the human body is just not designed for that type of punishment. I admit my ground game is better than my standup. And I'm one of those guys who says the boxer wins at boxing, and the mma guy wins in mma. Just want you to see where I'm coming from. Theres the occasional BOXER like James Toney and Tommy Morrison who HATE MMA and UFC. And theres the occasion MMAer (?) like Dana White who HATES Boxing. But for the most part, these fighters would LOVE to co-exist. Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather (who recently said he respected the sport), Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins (who invited Cotour to his training camp), and Kermit Cintron love both sports but compete in BOXING. Rany Coutore (?), Kimbo Slice, Tito Ortiz, and even Joe Rogan!!! Rogan says hes a boxing fan. I dont think we can blame anybody but ourselves for starting this whole UFC vs BOXING debate. Us boxing fans were making fun of the UFC when it was less popular then boxing, calling it a fad when it was still precieved as a fad. We started this "war" thingy a long time ago. Anyway, i thought it was funny how everyone but the fighters are agruing about which sport is better, as most fighters have tons of respect for each sport and would much rather co-exist Overall good post Kball! I dont know if we started it or they started but I do know that boxing fans shoulld not feel threatened by MMA, and vice versa. When it comes down to both sports they have combatants who enter a god damn ring and try and take each others heads off, got all the respect in the world for both sports. Sure MMA will NEVER excite me like a major prize fight will but thats just me, Im still gonna watch some of the bigger events like Liddel v. Jackson and same goes for a MMA fan they should watch some of the sweet sciences biggest events as well.. Boxing is not in danger, its got its fans that will NEVER EVER leave, kinda like the Bush administrations base(Boxing could be awful for years putting on a lot of bad fights and the great majority of us fdiehards are far to invested to EVER leave our beloved passion, same with the Bush Administrations base, hell Georgie could get caught banging a 4 year old girl on the white house lawn and the base would find away to explain it...wereso similar arent we, fuck). Both sports can coexist no doubt in my mind, boxing just needs to focus on boxing and do what it does best....weve struggled in this area at time over the last decade, putting out so so fights instead of matchmaker "cant miss" fights...if boxing just focuses on boxing the sport is just fine. Now-marketing is another story, MMA has certainly shown itself to be superior in this arena although the Mayweather v. Oscar fight was a sneak peak at what can be done in our sport if the effort is put forth. Sure the fight was a stinker but everyone on the planet knew what was going down in early May it didnt matter if quilting was your fucking passion you knew who was fighting. Imagine if we had similar promotion when the warriors entering the ring were named Cotto and Hatton. MMA is great, Boxing is not in trouble in the least... we just need to look in the mirror little more often and a bit less at the folks that lie next to us, huh?
