You've all seen this highlight video before I'm sure. Anyway, I can only find this clip in highlight videos, so you'll have to fast forward a little bit.
But the left hook that Floyd drops (and when I say drop, I really mean DROP) that guy with at the 3:30 mark, is fucking unreal.
Just a little reminder for those who forget how fast Floyd was at 130.

The boxer with the fastest left hook was Sugar Ray Robinson! PERIOD! As a matter of fact Sugar Ray Robinson had faster hands then any boxer. His left hook was crazy fast! When it landed ohhhhh! lol

Its that video that reminds me why Floyd was my favorite fighter.
He used to be SO exciting to watch, combining technique, speed and power. He used to engage other fighters and put combinations together.
Somewhere recently, though, he realized he could get by by throwing one punch at a time, and now thats what he does.
The left hook Robinson landed on Gene Fullmer I think it was. Very fast, austere and artistic in slow motion, one of the greatest single punches ever landed.
The other guy stepped back and fully extended with hips turned and all. This guy just did an arm punch. I've seen Holyfield do this.
He turned it over midwalk but i don't see why it matters .
Zab is much smaller then Jones, and I firmly believe that pound for pound(if zab was 5.11) Zab would have been faster.
That is all.
i think you have it twisted. i think when you say he's p4p a harder hit it generally goes from smaller weight to larger weight. it's the exact opposite when talking about speed.
p4p jones is faster than zab because even though zab may be a bit faster in actuality, jones is much bigger, and smaller guys are expected to be faster.
makes sense.
PBF was very exciting at the lower weights, people seem to forget that, anyone thats a 5 division champ from featherweight up would fight how Floyd does now,a defensive master and great technision
UM NO
END OF THREAD !!!

I disagree with you here. IMHO RJJ is p4p faster than Zab. RJJ is the most physically talented fighter I have ever seen. RJJ is an athlete that boxed. RJJ defeated great fighters with his hand speed, reflexes and general athelticisim with minimal technique
Floyd is very fast, but I think his timing is what sets him apart from Zab and Roy. Once PBF gets your rhythm he times his punches to let go when his opponent has commited to their punch. His reflexes get him out of harms way, but his opponent eats a right counter to the grill. lol
Zab is not naturally faster than Floyd.
They were about equal in speed after Floyd moved up 4 weight divisions.
I'm talking about a 22 year old Mayweather at 130 pounds. You don't get much faster than that.
He moved up 3 divisions but even at jrWW I think Zab had better hand speed. I also believe Mosley did at the lower weights as well.
PBF is a great fighter with excellent talent but more importantly Tremendous skill. I people are doing a disservice to PBF when they say that he is the fastest, quickest.....etc.
PBF is more than Hamed or RJJ who mainly relied on there talent. PBF has tons of refined skill.
I think p4p Zab had better speed then Jones.
Zab's highest weight 147
Jones lowest weight 154 as a pro
???
SO MUCH TO FLOYD BEING A RUNNER HIS WHOLE CAREER...
While I think PBF has excellent speed I dont think its all time great speed. PBF's greatness comes more of a melding of exceptional talent with great skill.
I would say RJJ and others had better speed than PBF. Even Zab had better speed.
