The result wasnt suprising to me as well simply because ive always thought Hattn was the better fighter.
The bottom line is noone has done that to Castillo before Hatton. If he was shot he has been shot before Hatton got to him and noone has done that to Castillo. It takes someone like Hatton to do it.
Thats what impressed me. Even though Castillo was shot and I believe there are other jrWW's who coudl've beaten this version of Castillo. I dont think another 140lber could've did to him what Hatton did to him.
no, castillo was good, im not taking that away from him. what im saying is a boxer can only take so many wars before they start to look old (see fernando vargas, etc). castillo to me had that same blank look in his eye that i saw scott pemberton have before the manfredo fight. hatton may have not looked that great in his last fights but there was no denying that he was the fresher and younger fighter, he'd been in far less wars then castillo.
i'm not saying this in hindsight, i was saying this when the fight was first announced
the point of my post isn't to take away from hatton, i think hes a good fighter. the point is - the outcome was not surprising to me because i feel castillo was a shell of himself at this point.

Castillo is a notorious slow-starter. He always looks slow and old in the beginning of his fights, so you guys can't say he was shot because he looked like it already when the fight started...
Nope, huge props for Hatton winning but Castillo was not gonna come on stronger.
Kellerman said the same thing you said in the 2nd round:
Kellerman: (IIRC) Castillo tends to get stronger as the fight goes on
Steward: Thats when he was younger, he looks like an old man to me tonight. I dont care what he did in the past, his legs are gone.

Jayzus, British hooligans are like coppers - when you really need them, they're not around!
I think Maxie's head would look good on a pole.
:)
ww
lol yeah he'd still be talking his shite tho lil maxie boy.
Its difficult to tell how much of Castillo's defeat was due to ring wear and age, and how much credit Hatton deserves for a great performance.
All i know is Hatton desreves no critisicm.
Credit where credit is due.
People should appreciate such a great body shot, and look forward to future Hatton fights against big names.
Castillo held as much as Hatton did, it was defo 50/50 clinching.
i know, but castillo never clinches and now in this fight he HAD to clinch because Hatton was all oveer the place, i do think Hattons vctory is quite immpressive and he is imo a good fighter, but his fucking "i dont care for my opponent" style as long as i win and his hypocrite attitude makes me despise him....especially his style, i like to see a fair clean fight...you can say Castillo is not clean himself, and youre right, but hes no fucking Hatton, Hatton is just surreal how much crap they let him get away with...........still Hatton's body shot was sick....Castillo has said it wasnt that hard but it was on the button and he couldnt even breathe...
i count this victory for Hatton as much as i count Pacman's victory over Morales....
I think I've never seen such pathetic excuses for boxing announcers, and i only wish that the krazy British boxing fans could have all heard how the little bug eyed junky was disrespecting Hatton after the fight so they could have stormed the ring and killed him. Hatton should have told little Maxie to fuck himself, and I think he was on the verge of doing just that.
ww
Haha if all the Man City Guvnors were there or the Salford Lads it wouldve went up lol theyd have had little Maxies head on a pole.
he had the shot fighter most obvious symptom, his legs were fucking gone....it reminded me a lot of Morales-Pacquiao 3 and Hatton's crap style dint help....when are they going to get a referee that warns him for doing all that crap??????........

I was hoping that Castillo would did down and show some signs of his former self but he has shown the signs that he was shot prior to this fight.
After the Ndoujo (sp) fight I said Castillo looked shot. It's not that he just squeaked a victory against him. It was that in that fight he showed no snap in his punches, no hand speed (he was never blazing fast but he did have hand speed), he looked like he had lead in his shoes and he didn't show any upper body movement.
I said all this way before this fight.
exactly. just watch his last fight before hatton. once a fighter shows signs of being shot like he did in that fight, its over. those who really follow boxing knew castillo had no chance in hell of winning this fight. furthermore they knew it wasnt going to be a war either
im not trying to diss hatton, but castillo was shot and that was known before the fight took place

I think they just said what was very clear to see. Castillo was a shot fighter.

Why was he in wars? Perhaps he was never that good, but PBF got great credit for beating him didnt he? ANd maybe people was overating Castillo just because he beat PBF in manys eyes. Maybe PBF aint all that good really? All ifs and maybes isnt it.
So why didnt PBF stop DLH? You predicted Hatton would win, so Hatton must be pretty good in your eyes. Why predict Hatton to win when Hatton has looked shit in his last fights as well? Face it Castillo was in great shape for this fight but just couldnt take what Hatton had to give him! And the outcome would have been the same whenever the fight happened. Castillo has never been on the floor because of his chin. But he hadnt faced a body puncher of Hattons calibre.
