Oddly, what has not been written or spoken of, to a large degree, is the fact that Floyd Mayweather has also attempted to set up a much anticipated fight between himself and Ricky Hatton prior to signing a deal to fight Baldomir. Hatton reportedly asked for $13 million effectively pricing himself out of a possible showdown with Mayweather. Many fans are beginning to come to the apparent realization that Hatton wants no part of Mayweather. He moved up to 147 lbs. to face lightly heralded WBA champion Luis Collazo and won a controversial decision to win the title.
During his post fight interview, immediately following the fight when Hatton was asked about facing Mayweather, he stated that he needs a few more fights before "fighting the likes of a Mayweather." His actions followed as well, as he abandoned his title and immediately moved back down to 140 lbs., where he'll face another lightly heralded opponent, Juan Urango. Yet, despite these facts and Mayweather's obvious willingness to fight the best, he's still unappreciated and scorned by many.
So what else you all got?
Yes, Addison, you are right.
It's only speculation of me to say Cotto would always overwhelm Judah.
And it's a stupid thing to say, so I'm sorry. But I feel that Judah is not strong mentally, so I think the current Cotto would be too much for even a prime Judah.
I should have pointed out that it was what I felt, and not as a "fact" as I made it look like.
When it comes to Hatton-Mayweather, I have no idea what Ricky know.
It's wrong to say that too, as you point out. But that is only a figure of speech from my part, as it describes what I personally feel.
I really don't think Hatton want to fight Floyd, no matter what he says.
I said Oscar is an elite fighter as a comment on another post further back, and that had absolutely nothing to do with the next sentence, which also was a reply to an earlier post.
The only thing I speculated, was the Cotto-Judah thing. The rest was adressed to earlier posts that annoyed me.
Thank you for pointing some things out, and in a sensible way!
That's a gracious and classy post, Tyson. :beerchug:
Thanks, I appreciate that.
I concede that expression is written all over this - sorry to go after it like some silly school teacher..
I see alot of people appreciated your words. Nice.
ya'll both (tyson, addison) make good points. conclusions are just that. they are almost always relative & are nothin more thn hypothesis' given what is a given. shit it is what it is. certain things we know from reason. i agree that zab wouldve handed cotto's ass to him under different circumstances so i hope them *****s have a rematch!!!
Dont agree. You hope Judah would have under different circumstances. Judah is an amazing talent, but simply lacks the will and mental capacity to be great. He has no heart, Cotto who is slow yet great power has tons of heart. He picks himself off the canvas when knockdown and keeps at it. I must applaud his will. Judah just can not focus for 12 rounds.

I like the opening comment here but the rest of this has wholes in it.
Don't let the people who share your POV fool you into thinking this is objective work here.. It's full of speculation and opinions.
The issue srrounding Cotto and Judah is split just near 50-50. You are making a massive leap there suggesting Cotto "overwhelms" Judah at any point - unless you're including the low blows at "any point." You see.. Some of us have actually laced em up and know what a low blow can do to a man's constitution like IceMan... And some here are professional journalists like Ryan (AS), who think Judah would have taken Cotto out in the first stanza without the fouls.. No offense, but I'll take their word over yours.
You're also saying Hatton "knows" he probably won't have much of a chance against Mayweather..
Just how do you "know" that?...
You also say that "DLH is an elite fighter" - and then immediately refer to Ricky Hatton, as if he is NOT an elite fighter.. Unless you mean something else - although I cannot see what..
.........Your message at the end is a good one.

hatton got that clean shot off and it probably hurt, i just do not think it was enough to take castillo out. he did not fall. he kneeled and stayed on his knees while the ref counted and then got up almos immediately after the ref stopped counting.
Castillo stayed down for over two minutes and was then helped to his stool. And I really think you should lace up some gloves and fight a body-puncher to get an idea of how much those punches hurt.
This started out a great post but the part in bold just is not true. Many people had Castillo pegged for the upset. Why, because Castillo in his past was a warrior. But Castillo did not show up, is that Ricky's fault...NO. But should it be taken into consideration, most definately.
Winning fights is not about just piling victories, its about taking on the best competition available. I am not a Floyd fan, not a Hatton fan, not a Judah fan. But outside of Hatton's last 3-4 fights, you would be hard pressed to name any of his oppoenents, who has he fought for the remaining 39 fights? Why did he turn down a Floyd fight previously? Why did he leave 147 after what most experts call a loss?
Deny this facts if you want, but since when did a great fighter have so many questions surrounding his name?
Where did I say Ricky Hatton was great?

I totally agree with this.
Judah was elite enough when Cotto-huggers celebrated his victory over him.
Nobody knows beforehand how a fighter will do in his next fight, and you're never better than your last.
This was a great win for Hatton, shot Castillo or not. We'll never know how different it would be even in Castillo's prime, so don't bitch about it.
DLH is still an elite fighter, otherwise the Mayweather-fight wouldn't be competitive. Hatton knows he PROBABLY won't have much of a chance to defeat Mayweather, otherwise he would pursue that fight like a mother.
A lot of people in here needs to grow up and learn how to use their head, because the reasoning and arguments are getting more and more retarded day by day.
Judah go overwhelmed against Cotto. He would be in every part of his career.
Hatton would most likely defeat Castillo any day of the week, but not for certain.
It doesn't matter who anybody fights anymore, because you haters claim they're ducking everyone else anyways.
Why the need to be so far up your favorite fighter's ass that y'all can't see anything but shit?
Damn, this is ridiculous. A waste of time. There are so few people in here able to discuss the sport of boxing it's scary.
I think Floyd will beat Hatton. But that doesn't mean I have to act like an arse towards Ricky, or those that think he will defeat Floyd.
If some of you guys have so much hate buried up inside you, then go punch it out on a heavybag. It's retarded to spray it out on a boxing forum.
I feel sorry for the haters...
Peace

Sure.
Judah is elite.
Sure.
Nuff said.
You asked me a straight up question no hypocrisy.
I answered it.
I returned it to your hypocrite ass.
And you told me... "let me tell you why". Lols.
Try harder. Hypocrite.
Do they have reading programs where u come from?
I said judah WAS elite when he fought mayweather.
Im suggesting that if mayweather wants 20 million, Hatton aint the guy to do the PPV with,
and no mayweather cant do a de la hoya and make massive money fighting mayorga types imo.
That's fair enough. I personally think that Hatton is concentrating on other people than Floyd, and if a fight between Hatton and Mayweather happens then it won't be until Hatton has already headlined at least one PPV.
mayweather has proven he can carry a major ppv fight. numbers dont lie. this dude is second only to dlh in numbers. he knows how to draw. he talks a lot of shit and people love to hate him. they watch cause they want to see him lose. he not going too, but he will make people watch to see if he will.
Are you suggesting that Mayweather can't carry a major PPV fight?
