Boxing is hurting because of "boring fights."
Boring fights = no 'hurt' exchanges, no knockdowns, no knockouts.
UFC almost always has blood, injury's, and knockouts.
(Submissions or actual fractured and broken limbs as well..)
Many well informed and knowledgable MMA posters on this forum have made it very clear to us all, that MMA involves skill, technique, ect.
I say very few of the people who follow UFC, Pride, and MMA are in this category.
I say most people who watch this stuff figure they're going to see somebody get fucked up.
They're going to see someone get hurt. :fing02:
That is the appeal of UFC.
It's all good. I meant my 'only'. I was saying that if anyone thinks the ONLY people who watch MMA want to see death and maiming, they are wrong. I can't defend the idiots, I just feel they are not a majority.
Glad you don't think I'm a prick. I'm for the most part laid back, but certain things get under my skin too easily.
I, like you it seems, am disgusted by the bloodthirsty types. But the most annoying fans are the 'armchair experts' who scream instructions every fucking second and have never trained a day in their lives.
It may be a misunderstanding. I did not quote you, did I? And they key word there is ONLY. Notice how my last words were "but there will always be a few". I admit there are idiot fans IN BOTH SPORTS, but you cannot honestly say the ONLY people who watch MMA are those wanting to see death or serious injury. That's crazy.
And like I said, that quote was in no way directed at you specifically.
Care to share your name? I used to watch the ISKA on ESPN(if that's where you fought) as a kid, and I wonder if I ever saw you fight. I remember 'Bad' Brad Hefton, Troy Dorsey, and Steve Doss mostly. I've actually met Mr Dorsey at an amateur MMA show, and Mr. Doss runs a MA school in Austin.
No, I never said "only." The majority is good enough.
In this case - any percentage above something small sounds like it would embarrass you, or any other serious observer..
This was aimed at "you" -for this reason.
......The unfortunate aspect here is that I've forced you to not only defend the idiots - I've forced you to tell me they don't exist.
And you aren't quoting my comments right now..
But you're still talking to me, yes?
Anyways, I think you showed me straight out you aren't a prick..
I appreciate your words here.
Fine.

Bullshit! I posted on #34 and got props on post #36. You said on post #40 concerning me: "It's a goddamn joke what you're saying." and "Quit talkin out yer ass." It went downhill from there.
Really? Because I'm pretty sure this was addressed to me..
And to the guys saying UFC only appeals to people want to see guys maimed or beaten bad, STFU. There will always be some idiots there, but there are idiot boxing fans too. UFC/MMA has been around since 1993. In that time there has NEVER been a death or anyone being cripppled in the US or Japan. UFC does not even try and market themselves to those kinds of people. If anyone is going to see MMA hoping to see that shit, they are A) fucked in the head, and B) wasting their money.
At the smaller shows, many of the fans there train in MMA and go to watch the fights. It's not full of a bunch of inbred hicks yelling for blood(but there will always be a few).
Of course the MMA fellows can't impose enough raw power and blunt force to actually damage or kill the way a Boxer can..
That seems obvious.
If MMA fighters were given standing 8 counts instead of the fight being called off, there would, IMO, have been MMA deaths in sanctioned bouts. There are none so far.
that is why they always brag about how their sport is more dangerous and tougher.
which i dont even believe.
but okay.
Are you retarded? MMA fans and advocates for the sport say the OPPOSITE. Especially when hypocrites like John McCain are trying to ban it. They may say it's 'tougher', but it's in the context of it involving more skills to learn than just boxing alone. I'll be the first to admit boxers are 'tougher' than MMA guys(generally), but sadly it's why alot of them end up like the Quarry brothers or Ali.

Glad to hear it. :beerchug:
This thread was in the spirit of the "Hegelian Principle."
(I find it gets better results :fing02: )
I don't initiate these little exchanges.
It was you - all we have to do is look at the thread here..
You barked up my tree. :firedevil

Dude is right, MMA is worlds safer then boxing on a long timeline. Boxers get straight up maimed in shocking and unacceptable numbers. This is not as true for MMA. Does this mean I like MMA more? No. Would I like it more even if it WAS more dangerous to peoples lives? Hell fucking no! I like boxing IN SPITE of the danger it inherently puts on its participants, NOT because of it.
That's where we went of subject..
The title of the thread, as was the content of my posting within this thread in regards to the "appeal of UFC."
Of course the MMA fellows can't impose enough raw power and blunt force to actually damage or kill the way a Boxer can..

I don't give a damn who you are. You said I was talking out of my ass concerning MMA and your wrong. I asked for your experience in MMA or your experience with its fans.
"Listen here 1bad.. I could step into that octagon if I cared to." I could try and pick up Jessica Simpson, doesn't mean I would be successful at it. "non-exception theorem"??? Do what? I simply was pointing out I would rather be injured than dead. IMO, MMA is safer than boxing, and I take it personally when I'm talked down to as you did to me. Disagree all you want, but if you want respect, you better treat others with it.

Dye, tell this motherfucker what my "experience" is.
(One of the youngest and wildest cat's here is actually the gatekeeper..)
.......Matter a fact - anyone who knows; please drop what has now become a "tag line" about my life and career.. :lol1:
Listen here 1bad.. I could step into that octagon if I cared to.
You need to be qualified to do so - and I am. :fing02:
I have fought professionally at the heavyweight class of my sport.
I have done well. Better than that really.. But there's no need for talk.
You made a mistake by putting me on blast. :purity:
I have the mind, and the credentials, to end this before it started.
Potna. :killyou:
you sir, are 24-0 as a kickboxer, and have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do

The shit is if boxing and Nascar culture had some kind of ugly baby. It would have a mullet, some big chops, a handle bar mustache, and some damn fingerless fight gloves. I don't care how much hurtin' is put on in the fights.
That's as fucked up as some anti-boxing assholes saying it's full of ghetto trash minorities. Hate the sport if you want, just don't watch it. But to insult the fighters and ALL of it's fans is a bullshit thing to do.
people watch the UFC the same reason people watched mike tyson: BRUTALITY. people say its a fad, i say its here for the long run. as long as people love blood, brutality, and excitment, they will love the UFC.
entertaining boxing is hard to come by. the UFC is regularly displayed on spike tv. with a regular time slot, thousands of fans, easy exposure, and constant excitement, the UFC is here to stay.
I don't give a damn who you are. You said I was talking out of my ass concerning MMA and your wrong. I asked for your experience in MMA or your experience with its fans.

I don't give a shit if MMA fighters fight to the death in the ring, that shit just doesn't entertain me. I have seen their flagship fighters in the ring and it has straight up put me to sleep. The shit is if boxing and Nascar culture had some kind of ugly baby. It would have a mullet, some big chops, a handle bar mustache, and some damn fingerless fight gloves. MMA isn't beating boxing at shit. Reactionary worriers just incorrectly wring their hands over the foolish thought.
I would rather have the injury that guy had than have the injuries Leavander Johnson suffered in his final BOXING bout. But what do I know, I like MMA, so I must just want to see someone maimed or killed.
Wow... A guy who invokes the non-exception theorem..
I thought all you guys died with the dinosaurs.
Do you train MMA? Do you go to the LIVE events or go to bars to watch it? There is a HUGE difference. And how many MMA fights have you seen with 'broken limbs'?
Common sense is good, but EXPERIENCE is better. What's yours again?
Dye, tell this motherfucker what my "experience" is.
