In an interview on Btalk, Yoel Judah informed everyone that Cotto vs. Judah did over 1,000,000 pay per view buys! He also said Top Rank has contacted them and wants to do a rematch in Puerto Rico. Zab himself said he wanted a rematch in Puerto Rico immediately after the fight, so both parties are on the same page. If Cotto and Judah get through their next bouts (Cotto has his mandatory and Zab fighting Sept 7th as a 'stay busy' fight on FNF), expect the rematch fight to be signed for sometime in early to mid 2008.
That interview was complete BULLSHIT. There was no rematch even close to being a done deal, the buyrate no NOWHERE near a million. The event did around 225K buys and info came from Cotto's promoter Top Rank.

Is that true?
The scores were 97-91 three times.
Through ten rounds, wouldn't Miguel have had 100? Minus the point deduction makes it 99?
What am I missing?
That EliteSoldier has no idea what he is talking about and is one of the many people who jumped on Cotto's dick immediately after this fight and threw up a new Avatar.
Rematch for what? I can understand if the fight was close but it wasnt. Zab got knocked the fuck out. Even if he hadn't Cotto still would have won a decision by a pretty decent margin. I see no point in this.
The rematch isnt almost a done deal at all. Yoel Judah is full if sh!t. The fight did not do a million buys, not even close. Cotto and Arum never said they wanyt a rematch in Puerto Rico, that is was Yoel and Zab want and he is putting words in their mouths. This guy is so full of sh!t, but knowing the Judahs, that was probably Zab doing the interview.
Why are people saying Zab deserves a rematch? Are you gys serious? What has Zab dont to deserve so many chances? He chokes referees, throws stools, fights in riots, punches guys when they are suppose to touch gloves, and now everyone says he deserves a shot again? This fight waqs billed as Judah's last chance and thats how it should be. Zab didnt show that much fukin heart, he asked for the fight to be stopped when he was cut when his cut wasnt bad at all, he just wanted to try and win on cards. Bobby Pacquiao showed more heart than him that night because his was fighting in a mask of blood and still going for the win despite being horrifically outmatched. Fuk Judah ans his whole family. Zab needs to fight some more fights and earn another shot, not just get one, get some notable wins under his belt, and that is actally what Bob Arum said. Zab should go after maybe Kermit Cintron while Cotto deals with Margarito.
tredh.
post a link, playboy
There you go hope it comes out because it from another boxing site.

Where all the asterisk at type in boxing talk without the spaces.
Who knows if what Yoel says is accurate, but I think the public would like to see a rematch - the first one was actually an entertaining fight.
If Margarito wins, I'd like to see Cotto-Antonio Margarito first, and Judah to pick up some much needed 'W's against Second 10 or 20 welterweights, but this rematch should happen. Zab deserves it for his effort; Cotto already won once, so he's probably up for it - and HBO would probably be all for it as well
When he demolishes Margarito, if they ever fight, I guarantee you Mexicans will know who he is then.
that doesn't seem that likely cotto goes \/
zab really made for cotto with his fear/lack of knowing how to deal with pressure marg isn't....
marg is made for counter-punchers at WW not cotto
I think Judah wins this rematch by KO, setting the stage for a rubbermatch that might not make any PPV records, but it'll go down as being comparable to any great fights in the last 10 years or so, with the exception of only a few.
Judah is perfectly capable of beating Cotto if he keeps his hands working. He's faster, has great power, more ring experience, and enough cash to buy a stainless-steel cup. Or maybe he'll just have his balls bronzed before the fight. Anyway, I think he had it in his head that he was going to KO Cotto early, and just didn't come into the ring in the shape he needed to be in. I don't believe he'll make that mistake again.
Interesting point. Zab may have felt that he could get an early KO, but he fades a lot. Remember, he said that in the early round he was dropping grenades on Floyd, but in the end lost steam. IMO, Zab can't handle pressure fighters, that is what Cotto did, and when Floyd took over their fight his only change was to pressure Zab.
BTW, PBF v Zab was a good fight.
When he demolishes Margarito, if they ever fight, I guarantee you Mexicans will know who he is then.
HAHA, i would love for Cotto to KTFO margarito just as much as i would like Castillo to kill Hatton....and im serious....

That's a good point - he would definately get their attention that way.
It's very important to his career he performs well in that fight should it take place.. The PPV numbers from the Judah fight are non-befitting..
That means one thing primarily; Mexicans could give a fuck about Cotto.
........And of course the rest of folks out West as well..
When I was in Las Vegas I was talking to everyone I could by phone and otherwise - and nobody, I mean nobody had any idea there was a fight taking place or who Miguel Cotto was/is on June 9..

Read Bob Arum's interview on the same site as the Yoel Judah interview. Bob Arum said the Cotto Judah fight did about 2 hundred thousand and some change. He also said that the fight did well in Puerto Rico and the New York area but it didn't do well out West.
I would take Bob Arums word on the PPV sales over Yoel Judah because Bob Arum has more money to lose or gain by the PPV sales than Judah does. Since that fight only did 2 and some change Cotto isn't a bigger draw or hold more star power than PBF as some of you like to say.
Cotto is more of a draw right now because of his nationality than his skills.
Damn I didn't know this site censored the other when you type the name up. Good for business I guess

man this is completely ridiculous cotto needs to fight the winner of margarito-williams which he will but after that he needs to go after someone new that would prolly bring in even bigger money
like de la hoya, mayweather, or shane
why go after zab when you can make bigger money elsewhere plus it be better competition?
this makes no sense i dont see this going down at all
Zab Judah didn't even win one single round, and if he blames the low blows for not even winning one round then thats sad.
He clearly won the first round and a couple others. :ugh:
This is pure and utter bullshit. First of all, Cotto whooped Zab's ass - there's no reason to rematch based on that alone. Second, Zab had lost his 2 previous fights, so he's in no position to demand a rematch. At this stage in Cotto's career, fighting a former titlist coming off 3 losses makes no sense whatsoever. Also, Arum said Cotto won't fight here again because the revenue the fight can bring in does not come close to what it would do on the States with their huge arenas. Think about it, this fight broke the MSG record for attendance, which is probably the most famous stage in the world - why the hell would they bring it here?
Well for one, there were a number of people saying their first fight was a candidate for fight of the year. That right there disregards some of the boxing politics that would say Zab shouldn't get a rematch. I know a lot of people who watched the fight live, plus those who saw the replay on HBO would happily buy this fight again. I would. Zab wants a rematch in Puerto Rico, I'm not sure Cotto can say no to that. There would probably be a slight possibility of a rematch even if Zab asked for it in the states.
