did you ever want to just say "rockman is probably going to catch him with a big giant of a right hand, i can tell!" hahaah
I told Joe I was going to do that LOL. But of course didn't...I never could bring myself, even if I wanted to, to try and act like I had some brilliant foresight like that...it would be FUNNY if someone did, though :)
they alway play the same fights over and over Id wish they,d play pryor alexis one I love that fight.
Pryor-Arguello 1 is definitely one of my top 5 favorite fights of ALL TIME
Actually I remember that moment very well in the studio... I had never seen the fight before so I didnt know the punch was coming...I was in the middle of saying something when it landed and I was surprised enough as to where I said something like "Ohhhhhh!!" LOL
To be TOTALLY honest wth you...I did zero prep for any of those fights...the reason being I just felt like it was my job to tell what EACH guy...SHOULD DO if he wants to win. I felt like I didnt need to know anything about the fight, their styles etc..(most of those fights, believe it or not, I had never seen before) .I just wanted to kind of do it on the fly. I have actually heard rumblings of me possibly getting some even bigger work down the line but nothing is solid at this point
I did sense a littel premature ejaculation about 3 seconds before Rock landed his big right in the side of LL's face.
BTW-are you in Vegtas for the fight?
Looking forwad to Scully v. Maske!
How much preparation did you do for these? How did you mentally go in the studio when you taped? Just curious becuase again, I think you guys have done a great job and I have thouroughly enjoyed it.
thanks

No, a lot of times they have some guy named ICEMAN JOHN SCULLY doing it with Joe Tessitore :)
You're the man ICE. Have they offered you any other TV announcing deals because I know you're better than most of the guys out there now. PLEASE send HBO the resume.

Ice,
serious question for you. I've thought you and Tesse have done an outstanding job making the calls sound fresh in bouts that you and everyone else knew the outcome before you called it. Kind of tough to not sound stupid when asked "if you think a guy might tire in the later rounds"..when we already know he will...etc.

I'm from Britain and usually watch espn classic when i can (its shown on sky tv) Do they always have the same guys analysing the fights Sugar,Teddy etc?
I couldn't agree more but I tihnk they might be limited to what rights they have attained for certian fights. They probably want to show alot fo great fights but can't due to legal issues is my guess.
I dont know about the Ali thing i honestly dont feel they play enough of him, being the greatest and all... all ive seen in the last month or so is Holyfield fighting the same people Bowe, Dokes and well Bowe... they throw in something different every once in a while but its something that they already playd out... I see the commerical about them opeing the vault but ive yet to see a Odlh fight, or PBf, or Klitch or any of the guys they say they'll be showing and it sucks
I've seen some DLH and PBF fights on there earlier in their career, but your right I've seen Holyfield/Bowe at least three or four times in the past couple of weeks.
Honestly after you've watched ESPN classic for about a week you've basically seen everything they play the same fights over and over, Holyfield V Bowe is probley on atleast everyday
No shit, They play the same shit over and over again. They really need to play classic fights not espn 2 fights featuring the likes of Lawrence Clay Bey or Jason Litzau. They need to tone it down with all the Muhammd Ali programming, I know he is the most recognized fighter in the world but they overkill it to the point where you just get sick of the same fighter being featured over and over again. The voice over announcing really kills it for me especially when they actually show a good fight.
How Do You Find The Listing Of What Fights Are Coming On???
I like this site. You can even set it up by timezone.
