As far as I'm concerned there are 3 acceptable opponents for Mayweather's next fight.
1) Winner of Paul Williams - Antonio Margarito
2) Miguel Cotto
3) Shane Mosely
If he takes on one of these three guys in his next fight I promise to Mayweather fans to permanently shut up about Mayweather's opposition selection.
Mayweather needs to wait for Cotto to bust up the winner of Margarito Vs Williams that way he can shut people up. That wil be a nice win on his record and people will stop talking about Margarito so much. Peace
Dumbass. You can.
Just look at fake Floyd doing ala Ruiz in their DLH fight. He can't even stop an old DLH and chose to run like a chicken, throw 30 punches per round and bear-hugged.
And dude, boxing is different from running. Did you ever get to school? The definition is basic and simple.
Boxing is when you avoid damage and yet is able to throw effective punches, combos and all sorts of attack on an opponent.
It's a lot different from running like a chicken which fake Floyd does. Now get a dictionary.
Get some glasses or contact lenses. You can't win a 12 round fight running. So every fighter who bear hugs sucks? Hatton sucks too? Hopkins throws a small amount of punches per round so he sucks too? No man who steps into a boxing ring should be called a chicken? That's a fit name for bitch made fools like you who like to hate.
Question.
How old was DLH?
He got another gift from that fight.
He ran like the chicken that he is, threw 30 punches per round and basically bear-hugged an old DLH which would make Ruiz blush like a highschool kid.
Yeah, that's real skill.
Or not.
What hugging u talkin about? U must think every defensive fighter is a chicken. You can't bear hug while boxing and moving dumbass.
No need. PBF just stay retired. He'll just get exposed.
How the fuck will he get exposed? He just stepped up to 154 and beat Oscar who even at this stage of his career would still beat marg, williams, and more that likely cotto.
You are a boxing Guru?
Shut the hell up.
You are no more than 17.
What the fuck do you know about boxing.
You still have trouble cleaning your ass.
What the fuck do you know about boxing? All you do is mention Floyd in everyone of bullshit fucking posts. Without going to Boxrec name just some of Floyd's opposition. Talk about something else for once or get the fuck out of this site.
Here's how it's going to go down. Cotto will fight the winner of Marg/Williams. Mosley will fight the winner of that fight. Mayweather will fight the winner of that bout.
I agree, I remember reading an interview that Floyd will stay retired (except for dlh rematch) and will just chill with his family, stating that he'd like to see other young lions make a name for themselves....tho' i know mosely isn't a YOUNG lion, but floyd can't hold grudges forever...if public demands, then public demands....
All the fucking greats are accused of ducking.
This shit is old news for Boxing Gurus.
I don't think so. None of the greats are accused of ducking. The reason why is because what separates a great from a non-great is that they DON'T duck anyone.
Why do you think that Riddick Bowe is never going to be mentioned as one of the greatest heavyweights ever? Holyfield will always be above him on the alltime great heavyweight list and Bowe will never crack anyone's top ten.
In terms of legacy, the difference between Bowe and Holyfield is the same as the difference between Mayweather and a guy like Sugar Ray Leonard for example.
Here's how it's going to go down. Cotto will fight the winner of Marg/Williams. Mosley will fight the winner of that fight. Mayweather will fight the winner of that bout.

Talk about jumping the gun, hypocrite.
Where do I say I was a boxing guru??
I'm not like Stevie now, I can see my shit.
;)
...If Winky beats Hopkins, they could fight at 160 and that would be a big event...
winky will be 36 in november (old), will be coming down from LHW (weight drained), and i seriously doubt mayweather's going to fight at middleweight (floyd).
winky will be old, drained, and working with floyd is never easy.
1. cotto is slated to face the winner of williams/margarito, so throw those three names out... for now.
2. i dont know whos fault it is, but when mayweather's and mosley's camps talk, nothing happens. this fight has been talked about for years and is yet to happen and from what i hear, no progress is being made.
3. oscar has already refused a rematch with floyd. "been there, done that" is what he is reportedly said.
4. hatton's staying at 140. a wise choice. at 147, floyd would rip him apart.
really, the only fight that makes sense is one with mosley. cotto/margarito/williams are slated to fight each other, de la hoya says "no rematch", so sugar shane is the only one left in the welterweight-jr middleweight range.
but theres a few catches to that fight (in boxing, theres always a catch). talks for that fight keep falling apart, as previously stated. shane will turn 36 in september, so you cant really say hes in his prime either.
when you look at it, floyd's really in a no win situation. a fight with mosley will be hard to get, and shane's no spring chicken. but floyd has no1 to blame but himself for that.

Fight Mosley. The biggest fight that can be made in boxing besides for a DLH rematch. It shouldnt be that difficult. Split it 60-40, and do the damn thing already. The Cotto fight could be something huge, so you have to wait it out and hope that Miguel can beat Margarito.
If I had to guess, I would say that is what Floyd is probably doing, because IF Cotto can get by the winner of Williams - Margarito, the money would be huge. Not quite DLH huge, but big nonetheless.
Besides the biggest money fight that can be made right now, imo, is DLH v Cotto. That fight could do some serious damage in PPV sales.
If Margarito beats Williams, he'll fight Cotto - then the winner looks like a good fight for PBF
Or he can get big money with Golden Boy promoting vs. Shane Mosley
I think he sits out a long while and waits for a really attractive money offer like one of these - Mosley may need a name win in the meantime too. I'd like to see him fight Joshua Clottey or Kermit Cintron
Thank you. I could not have said it any better. Your points are right on target.
20 years from now, no one will give a rats ass about Floyd.
Don't use G@yweather's name in the same sentence of the GOAT Muhammad Ali.
Ali's has 5 Fight's of the year:
1964: Muhammad Ali KO7 Sonny Liston, see Ali versus Liston
1971: Joe Frazier W15 Muhammad Ali (first fight), see Fight of the Century
1974: Muhammad Ali KO8 George Foreman, see The Rumble in the Jungle
1975: Muhammad Ali KO14 Joe Frazier (third fight), see Thrilla in Manila
1978: Leon Spinks W15 Muhammad Ali
20 years from now, people will still be watching Ali fights.
People today wont watch a Mayweather fight more than once.
Ali is named Fighter of the year 4 times in his career:
1972 Muhammad Ali/Carlos Monzon
1974 Muhammad Ali
1975 Muhammad Ali
1978 Muhammad Ali
========================================
Floyd Mayweather Jr. does not have a FOTY
Floyd Mayweather Jr is mentioned as Fighter of the year ONCE in 1998.
Roy Jones Jr. does not have a FOTY
Roy Jones, Jr. Floyd is mentioned as Fighter of the year ONCE in 1994.
=========================================
These little JUNIORS (JR's) claim they are all that but we know better.
=========================================
Floyd is better than Robbinson?
LMAO!
Floyd is better than Ray Leonard?
Floyd is better than Muhammad Ali?
In your fucking dreams.
GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!
=========================================
FLOYD IS A FRAUD AND A LIAR!.
:owned:
Did you notice that Muhammad Ali also has Fight of the Century
Floyd does not have any of these because he wont fight anyone.
Floyd Fights Bums and old men and claims he is the greatest.
He is a joke.
If he wasn't a scared little boy, he'd fight Miguel Cotto. He's going to have some terrible scars on his face after cotto would get done with him.
lol eno is right cotto next fight will end his undefeated run sorry
I think it should go kind of like tournament style.
Shane-Mayweather fight
Williams/Margarito -Cotto
Then winner of fight one fights winner of fight two.
That's assuming that Floyd still wants to fight and if he did beat shane and still wanted to fight AND cotto beat the winner of Williams/Margarito then I think there would be huge demand for a Floyd-Cotto fight.
That'd be nice.
Well I would be suprised if Williams gets through Margarito, and if he does then I have a feeling Arum would avoid Williams to be honest. Eventhough personally I think Miguel would wear him down, even if the difference in height is scary.
When you talk as much as he does, you're going to contradict yourself and you're going to say things that upset people. I've come to expect it from him, but I judge him by his credentials in the ring, not his mouth. In that ring, he is one of the greatest of all time without a doubt.
Ali ran his mouth a lot too, but years later he is respected for it. At the time, many, many people hated him.
20 years from now, everyone will be in love with Floyd and pretend they were a fan "back in the day." It's just the way it is.
