Suppose this fight takes place at middleweight. I say this fight is the one that could help Floyd's resume the most. If he beats the recognized middleweight champ, he will go down for sure among the top 10 of all time, the first legitimate 6 division champion, plus Taylor is top 4 p4p currently. He'd probably belong among the top 5, although I wouldn't expect many to give him that credit out loud but in their heart of hearts. I think Mayweather beats him with or without Steward. Spinks had him irritated, so Mayweather can leave him beaten. Let's see it. Who wins?
If Taylors last two performances are indicative of how he would perform...Mayweather by fairly easy UD. If Spinks didn't get stopped or even hurt really then I don't think Taylor can hurt Mayweather and I know Mayweather is a better boxer with more pop than Spinks. On the point of historical significance, it would look a lot better on paper than in reality. Yes Taylor is undisputed MW champion and on some p4p lists but after his last couple performances he surely should not be on anyone's top 25 p4p list. Furthermore, the guys best wins were incredibly close, ugly UDs against Hopkins and a gift draw to Wright (even if you think it was a draw that was the BEST possible decision, no way Taylor won this fight). Also Taylor clearly has shown that he is susceptible to being beaten by smaller skilled guys because he simply hasn't gotten any better since he won the title. To illustrate, does anybody think Mayweather beats Pavlik (Pavlik probably is not as good of a fighter as Taylor but I think its a much more difficult match for Mayweather. I guess what I am saying is that styles make fights and this would be like RJJ CHOOSING John Ruiz as a tailor made HW to take down and hence not that impressive in terms of historical significance.
Like I said, if he fights like he did against Spinks... EASY WIN for PBF... And until I see something different from Taylor, my opinion will stay the same... Taylor did not take advantage of the much smaller Spinks... What makes you think he will against PBF... And I think we all can agree, if Floyd is able to pick his shots and expect only a few punches coming back per round, he will win another easy, "boring" fight...
I put the " " on boring because I am never bored with a PBF fight...
great point. Good karma your way,

Definitely. Ouma has a good chin, but he ate tons of punches from Taylor, a natural middleweight, and was never in any real danger of being stopped. Spinks didn't get hit much to his credit, but Mayweather is a lot more elusive than Spinks AND he hits back. Judah destroyed Spinks after all, but he was never able to catch Mayweather with a bomb.
taylkor would win by knock out. He is just way way too big for pbf.
Wasn't this the same thinking when he fought Ouma and Spinks? And those guys are not in Mayweather's class skill-wise, and Spinks' chin is not as good as Mayweather's.
If Taylor fights like he did against Spinks... PBF would win easy...
actualy now that i think about about it your right, Spinks out boxed him verry easly he just wasnt decisive enouph. Im gonna change my opinion to pbf by easy decision.
PBF wins this fight in a similar fashion that he beat DLH by fighting Taylor the same way Spinks fought him. The big difference would be that Floyd would throw the lead right hand and it would find Taylor almost every time. If Spinks would have lead more often, he would have won that fight.
Taylor looked foolish at times against Spinks, imagine what Floyd would make him look like.
that is my thinking. Mayweather is like Spinks except he actually fights and lands meaningful punches.

He took punches from De La Hoya and wasn't even fazed. So what if he gets a little buzzed from the 1-2 punches Taylor will land on him a round? The only trick is Taylor's jab. If he uses it effectively, Mayweather could be in for a long night.
Mayweather is easily the better Boxer.. But Jermaine Taylor is a REAL middle weight.. I think 160 is a little too much for Floyd to handle.. Seriously.. DO you think he could eat punches from Miranda or Pavlik and Stay standing..
I am sure added those few extra pounds would slow Floyd enough he would get caught.. he would not have the power to hurt these guys.. And they would serioulsy out reach him...
Floyd is awesome.. But NO ONE is THAT awesome...
Ha ha, HAHAHA, HAHAHAHAHA.
R U kidding?
PBF has looked increasingly shitty with each weight increase, to the point where he's reverted to this shitty potshot style of 'fighting' for his last two fights. I strongly doubt that he'll carry the extra weight even REMOTELY well, and taylor should literally be able to RUN through everything PBF throws.
Taylor is every bit as fast as Zab, with more power, and better stamina (although only slightly better focus), AND has a much better training camp than PBF.
PBF's only saving grace is that Taylor has a tendency to lose focus and not keep his punch output as high as it needs to be to properly pressure / win the fight. After taylor's fight with spinks, I'd imagine that this will change, but PBF could luck out there.
It would be a horrible move for PBF, especially with so much unfinished business at the lower weight classes. It's a good win if he wins, but win or lose it closes his career somewhat (what are the odds of him going down TWO weight divisions for a fight?). I'd much rather see him go try to give hatton a smackdown at 140, or shut up everyone by beating up on margarito, or better yet stop trying to kill the sport of boxing with his poisonous attitude to casual boxing fans and just stay retired. But that's just me.
Shoot, didn't make it public. It's cool though as I think Taylor has near the amount of haters Mayweather does. Hopefully that nonsense doesn't affect the poll. I'm not sure myself who would win, but I picked Mayweather.
