No wonder HBO didn't put out a press release touting some great number. They must be disappointed as well. Nothing without DLH at this point will crack 450k, IMO.
Floyd v Mosley could.
Floyd v Cotto probably could as well.
Floyd will be impossible to listen to after Hopkins v Wright.
"I did 2.1 million buys, almost 2 million more than Hopkins and Wright Im the biggest name in boxing, im the greatest there ever was, etc etc"
I don't really care what the numbers were. It was a great fight, I got to see it, why should I care whether or not a lot of other people wanted to see it? This is what I'm starting to realise. If boxing is there for me, that is all that I care about, and boxing always will be around. Everyone is always talking about how it is so important to get mainstream media coverage, why do I need mainstream media coverage to enjoy a fight?

I think MAYWEATHER-MOSLEY and MAYWEATHER-COTTO break 500,000 easy. AND would get mainstream coverage undoubtedly
Thats because Judah was the opponent. Did ya notice there were hardly any blacks at the garden? And he's from Brooklyn, If it would've been Cotto Vs Hatton, it would have made triple the amount of money. I hate Hatton's clinching fighting style, but there are alot of white people who consider him the next white hope.
I think it was too close to the Mayweather/Delahoya fight to do real good numbers.
There were alot of people that I talked to after the fight that thought they wasted their money. So I don't think they were ready to throw down another $50 a month later.

That's disappointing. I was hoping for 350-400k as a boxing fan.
To get 250k for a FOTY candidate with a great atmosphere, a solid undercard and a potential superstar in Cotto is a little worrisome. I thought Hopkins/Wright would get 250-300, but if Cotto/Judah got 250k, then I'm going to predict July 21 will only get 175-200.
$IN said the numbers were 250k buys. He gave a link which sent me to Dan Rafael's (of ESPN) chat/blog page. The link didn't work for me as I am not a paying subscriber to Insider so I wasn't able to confirm this.
